Thanks for the info!

No wonder Lorelai looks at him that way (especially pic three) So, the gradual LL movement towards each other continues.

Absolutely. This is the new family in the making, all four of them! Too bad it's materializing so late, probably too late for us viewers to really enjoy.

From Fraz at FB:

Quote:
Santa's Secret Stuff" (R-L) Rory (Alexis Bledel) returns from London after the holidays. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) is disappointed that Rory celebrated Christmas in London with
Logan, but decides to have a ÒChristmas after ChristmasÓ celebration as a new family complete with trees, decorations and shopping. Luke (Scott Patterson) asks Lorelai to write a character recommendation letter for his custody battle with Anna over April
somehow we didn't get that last part earlier.

You are more on Lorelai’s side on this, I’m more on Emily’s side.

I don’t think Lorelai’s age is an excuse for her behaviour or that Emily and Richard are more responsible for this because they are the parents. Lorelai was a parent too.

Emily and Richard wanted for Lorelai to get married to Chris. Obviously Emily and Richard respected Lorelai’s wish to not get married, and let Lorelai stay at home. They respected her and accepted Lorelai’s decision.

Again, we don’t know what Emily and Richard did way back to keep Lorelai and Rory in their lives. But I’m sure Emily didn’t let Lorelai and Rory go without a fight.

But once Lorelai made up her mind there is no chance to change it.

And why did Mia never say a thing? Emily wished that Mia would have sent Lorelai home instead of giving her job. But apparently Lorelai felt fine where she was and made it clear that she doesn’t need her parents.

During her rift with Rory, she said that she wanted to do it alone without any help and Rory should do the same.

Lorelai was too proud to accept any help from her parents.

I could imagine that Emily tried again and again to have contact with her daughter, but what if Lorelai always rejected her and Richard. Not wanting to have any contact at all. Maybe Emily and Richard reached out to Lorelai, but Lorelai didn’t want it.

So what should Emily have done, dragging Lorelai home by her hair and keeping her in her room day and night? Lorelai only would have run away again and this time probably a lot further away, where nobody would have found her.

I guess after some time Emily accepted Lorelai’s choice even if a part of her died inside of her.

Apparition, I know that Emily and Richard had problems before, Richard lied to her about Pennilyn Lott, his work was getting more and more important, Emily felt like he didn’t need her anymore and on top of that he put his work before his family. Lorelai was the last straw for Emily to leave Richard. Still it was a major one too. She endured everything, but she couldn’t lose Lorelai again.
Nothing more to add, glad you do all the writing work

Apparition - "She couldn´t understand his motivations anymore" - ITA here as well.

crimson, how was Chris asking Lorelai to have a baby random? He had just witnessed a touching scene between LL drooling over Doula. It seems very obvious to me that Chris loves Lorelai and is committed to the relationship (complete with new house and new baby). It wasn't so farfetched of him to ask her after he'd seen how into the baby she was. And I don't really blame him for being upset that she'd said not right now either, he could have acted more mature about it...but well, that's what guys do sometimes.

Is it any wonder some of us don't think some of you don't bother to watch Rory's part of the story? I don't mean this rudely.

But in The Long Morrow Logan & Rory have an entire conversation about how he's cleared with Mitchum already a 2 week vacation for him & Rory to go to London, Paris & Rome together. Lorelai encourages her to go to London for the summer, she's disappointed since he tells her he's got tickets, for Christmas. Seeming to her to say he's okay with not seeing her till then.

Well, for Lorelai I can see it. But what about Rory? Ever since she had been in Yale, during her fight with Lorelai, after the end of the LL relationship, she never seemed really to care for Luke (The only point where I had the feeling she really does was her "Step-fater-to-be" comment in 21ITLN) aka could go on pretty well without him and without mourning him or trying to stay in contact which would've showed that she likes him and he means a lot to her, no matter if he's with Lorelai or not.. And seriously, next to baking her a cake for her 16th birthday - what is the big thing she could realize he was for her next to the fact that he's the nice guy who poured her and her mother coffee back then, in the good, old days?

ITA. But I guess - from Lorelai's POV - X-Mas was just far, far away, plus she hadn't been married to Rory's dad at this point (their first X-Mas as real family and stuff) and around X-Mas she gets sentimental anyways (Remember F&S and how she hated it that she wasn't with Rory?) and she just might not have realized how much she'd miss Rory, if she wouldn't be there for X-Mas.

That’s fine, as long as you don’t forget to write an certain epilogue ...

Thanks for all the new spoilers. I love them, finally some LL interaction again.

Coffee supplier? Burger Maker? Porch Rail Fixer? Whatever could they be thinking about?

Thanks Nicholalala.

Just like we haven't seen every interaction between Chris and Rory, we haven't seen every interaction between Luke and Rory. I certainly don't think she should start calling him Daddy or anything but he was an important figure in her life. I agree it's been less so since she started college. But he wasn't just her coffee supplier.

Thanks Katie and Fraz.
So the character reference letter story begins in 7.11. And if Lorelai and Rory recall what/who Luke has been to them, it'll be even easier, though probably heart wrenching, for Lorelai to write.

If this is what the hiatus is about, all this abundance of info and pics, I say bring it on.

You know some nice little things like he was always there for them when they needed him or fixing things so the roof wouldn't came down or going to a caterpillar funeral for a 10 yo or making mashed patatoes because a little bundle of joy had the chicken pox or simple being there for someone's mother and making her happy or just taking part of important events in Rory's life like graduating highschool or moving into her dorm at Yale could come up. But well those are just stupid things a random diner guy did for a mother and her daughter that mean absolutely nothing to him and wise versa.
