There wasn't any contact with him for a year after JACF. It's only been since he showed up in HSTB..D that they've had regular contact again, and she's still insecure about the status of their relationship. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have blasted her mother for potentially screwing it up.

They can never go back and make up something that's long since past. The day when Rory needed a father in the home is gone. She's gone. And if, after this marriage winds down, Chris appears to "disappear" from her life, it's not going to be because they are not in contact but because the actor's not appearing on the show and we've only got whatever Rory and Lorelai say are happening between Rory and Chris to rely upon.
I'm not sure what you're arguing. I'm saying if DS stays on for more than 3 or 4 episodes, maybe we'll get to see Rory fighting for their relationship. Maybe she won't let it fall back to emails and phone calls. Instead of being passive and waiting for him to roll back around, she'll make sure it happens. Maybe finally we'll get to see that father/daughter relationship standing on its own merits.

I'm still wondering how much will change with Rory and Chris when the marriage ends, will he be around, he's not on screen so it's hard to tell, IMO there will be several months with nothing (like in the past) then he will be back towards the end of the season, I hope this time "just for Rory" and maybe at the graduation.
i really hope he will stay in contact with rory after divorce. he should be there for her, after all these years of being a bad father. especially on graduation day. and yes, just for rory. cause i think he could never be just a friend with lorelai, he's so in love with her that he can't control when he's around her. he's pretending everything is ok when he sees her with other guy, and he's trying to be just a friend but he never succeeded. it's better for him to not be around her to much.

Though it will be nice to see more of Rory and Christopher relationship, I don't want to see her fighting for his affection. She is a gown up woman now and don't need her dad as much when she was a kid, but is still Christopher's job to make her know that he loves her, and not the other way.

I wouldn't put my money on Rory even want to have contact with Chris after he leaves.
After everything he's done so far and he still doesn't really show any interest in her. Who knows what else he's up to. I mean he kicked her out of her own room - no I don't want to run around that tree again. I can't wait to see Rory's face when she comes home and her whole room is gone. Everything is pink and she may not even have a bed anymore

I think it will be a scene, 2 old dudes fight's over the love of a woman and destroying a Christmas display in the process,

I'll be disappointed if Taylor doesn't have something to say about that!

She's not in the room anymore and Lorelai asked her if it was okay. I don't understand why everyone feels that Rory's room should never be touched, even if she never comes back to it again. I'm sure she's not going to end her relationship with her father because he wanted her sister to have a place to sleep. (Let's leave aside the fact that L&C are now going to be looking for another house anyway.)

But, what are you expecting? For them to have a weekly dinner and for us to see that every week? What are you expecting once she graduates and moves heaven knows where, let alone the time she has to spare during the rest of this school year? Once she graduates and moves away, she's going to be communicating with *everyone* via emails and phonecalls -- Lorelai, Chris, Emily & Richard, you name it. I'm trying to figure out what you expect to see on screen between an adult child and her parent, when one actor won't even be on the show for more than a few episodes to prove that they have a relationship, despite her mother's issues with him. You know what's the real conundrum? People want to see more than they want to see, i.e., they want to see Chris gone but they also want to see -- before their eyes -- a healthy relationship between father and daughter despite the fact that these two characters are off on different paths and, literally, won't even be on set shooting.

The fight sounds super dumb, yet I'm really looking forward to it. For some reason I wouldn't be surprised if SP and DS probably had a lot of fun doing that. Most guys I know enjoy wrestling and being dumb like that. I have heard that it can be a form of communication. I don't really get it, but hey, there are a lot of things that guys do that I don't understand.

I don't know what I'm expecting really, it's just something different they've never shown. I'm thinking about the period between L/C breaking up and Rory's graduation. If he's around for more than 3 episodes it'd be nice them explore that relationship with Rory for once, instead of revolving around Lorelai, again. Even adult kids see their parents, and if Chris goes back to Westport, he's not far from New Haven so it's not unrealistic. They've already shown Rory to be insecure about their relationship, so why not explore that dynamic if Chris is going to be around for the rest of the year?

Some want to see him gone from the show, some want to see him gone from Lorelai's life. We know he's re-signing for some of the back 9, so again, some kind of story with Rory/Chris, and god-forbid, the forgotten sister Gigi, would be a change of pace.

ITA Scott and David (Just like Lauren) are probably having a ball this year and the fight would be no different, I'm begging that DSR puts the behind the scenes for that on the DVD, please please please!

Sandilyn re the room 1. L/C eloped, they did not let Rory know in advance that they were getting married and living in the Star's Hollow house, therefor Rory never had a chance to say'Oh, I guess Gigi will need my room, I'll move out my stuff." 2. it was upsetting, obviously, to Lorelai to see Chris just pushing Rory's things aside as she has a lot of good memories of that room so 3. Chris was being insensitive which has led to a lot of the current Chris/Rory discussion on this board. Wether it was intended or not, it really looked like he was saying, the heck with daughter 1, I'm all about daughter 2. And yes, I would expect them to have weekly dinners, not on screen, please as we've had way more then enoughof Chris as it is, but in passing comment. Why shouldn't Chris make an effort to see Rory? And if she's busy, it's his job as the parent, to try harder and accomodate her. I think that's the whole basic issue here, he's never been the grown up or the parent, he's never put himself out for her. Wether or not he and Lorelai stay together, it's time he did.

ckomodo I don't mind that they eloped, I know that sounds stupid but what I mean is you elope you don't stop to make a phone call to tell or invite anyone, that's the whole point of eloping. But what I find stupid is there must have been at least a day or so between the proposal and them getting married or at least a couple of hours, so why didn't Lorelai call Rory to tell her "I'm engaged" before they went to the town and church?
