Rory's been so paranoid about their tentative relationship falling apart if C/L don't work out, I think she'd be the one to step up and make sure it doesn't.

Global promo: Click

eta: I'm getting a "This video is unavailable outside of Canada" message, don't know about other non-Canadians.

I know it's probably late but there is a plugin "DownloadHelper" that works with firefox that might be able to save the video and then unload else where as a FLV for other to see, but since I'm outside Canada then I can't test it.

ETA - Thanks 2ggObsessed

I like that idea. Just two guys having really bad days, and who better to take it out on then the person they dislike the most, and a Christmas display. That would very much in keeping with the Gilmore Girl way of doing things. Make it about something, but have them never actually speak about it or even speak at all. Just each giving that understanding glare, and the games begin.

Why wouldn't she step up and make sure it does work out between her and her father? Isn't that what everyone's wanted all along, for Rory's relationship with her father to be independent of Lorelai? Surely the end of Lorelai and Christopher does not mean the end of Rory having any relationship with her father, just as she was having before Lorelai rang his doorbell that night.

I'd prefer that to a Logan-Marty-Rory triangle.
I don't think Rory thinks he was a good dad. I think she specifically thinks he was at best unexceptional. Look at her anger in Haunted Leg, what she says to him in ICGS. Or even her hesitancy in PLG. She acknowledges that he's been a less than stellar dad to her. But that's different from the fact that he is her father and she seems to want a good relationship with him and says she likes and appreciates the one they'd been building in the second 1/2 of S6. He doesn't know her as well as he should, but she's not asking him to make up for lost time, that's his issue, she's asking for a relationship based on the people they are now.

And that's also a separate issue to if he has or hasn't beenn around as much as Lorelai maybe wanted.

Whether he felt intimidated, irrelevant, or was just plain selfish, it wasn't up to Lorelai to force him into it, it was up to him to step up, and he never did.
I wouldn't disagree with any of this.

She never has before, that was my point. It'd be something different. I think the expectation is history will repeat itself - Chris will disappear from her life again, and Rory will just expect/accept it. Some seem to think Chris should be the one making the effort because he has 22 years of amends to make. Rory being there to support her dad for a change would be a different angle.

But she was making it work through phone calls and emails, we just never saw it. She would reference talking to her dad or getting a message from him on various occasions. They can never go back and make up something that's long since past. The day when Rory needed a father in the home is gone. She's gone. And if, after this marriage winds down, Chris appears to "disappear" from her life, it's not going to be because they are not in contact but because the actor's not appearing on the show and we've only got whatever Rory and Lorelai say are happening between Rory and Chris to rely upon.

lemontart,I agree with you; I just would like to see a direct acknowledgment between Chris and Rory-she has infrequently spoken of his limitations but never in an adult manner directly with her Dad. Something on which to build a stronger relationship in the future. That's much more interesting to me than Chris' stultifying interactions with Lorelai at this point.

I'm still wondering how much will change with Rory and Chris when the marriage ends, will he be around, he's not on screen so it's hard to tell, IMO there will be several months with nothing (like in the past) then he will be back towards the end of the season, I hope this time "just for Rory" and maybe at the graduation.
