Its a fictional world.
And a crazy one at that.
Not Dr. Phil.
The fight is being used as a promotional gimmick.
How many times has a Luke vs. Chris argument shown up here?
They know most people compare the two so here's a physical match up for the masses.
Luke is a character that doesn't say much.
We have not seen much evidence of his pain and this is a way to show it.
Hopefully we will see what he is really thinking amongst all this silliness.
Before, during, and after.
Otherwise the fight will be pathetic.

I was curious about that wording as well. Is this reminding anyone else of JAG and the Maddie custody thing or is it just me?

Sure, fighting is pathetic, sure they should use their words ... yep ... and again let me state I would never 'promote' fighting in real life, but this is Stars Hollow and GG we are talking about. And because of that I am so looking forward to this. I love the fact that there will be Xmass ornaments ringing while they are taking each other on. I sort of see this as the two worlds colliding ... BOOM ... Lorelai's old world (the world of having to follow certain procedures to be accepted, money and status overruling kindness on many occasions), represented by Chris and her world for so many years, Stars Hollow (the whacky town that has no problem accepting others who have their own whackiness, a place safe, where people might be deviant in some ways, but they do stand up for those who need it, money is overruled by kindness). And I guess these SH-rules only apply when you show you also embrace the whackiness ... I guess Chris represents to much that world that SH really doesn't want too be and well Chris took a place in a certain house that already in their mind belonged to a certain townie ... I loved the in many ways so logical response from Chris towards Babette Oh, yeah? Did Morey go as chucky? Huh?! No, he was a futuristic pirate! or Chris to Miss Patty This is so cool I didn't know the welcome wagon came in a real wagon. Yeah. Well... so there you go. Sure these were logical responses by Chris, but SH simply has their own logic. Same as Chris paying that huge amount of money at the Knit-a-thon ... nice gesture, but not the right one in SH ...

I don't even see this as solely Luke fighting Chris for Lorelai, nope, this whole town is represented by Luke, fighting the outsider. I do wonder if the other townies find out, how they will react to this. I can even imagine Taylor looking through his window and once he sees this closing the curtains, in a way sort of silently approving. There is weirdness when it comes to small towns and well Stars Hollow has definitely proven this already over the years.

What should she write? That he loved his daughter more than his fiance? And didn't choose her because of that, when she asked him to marry her?

That's what I thought when I read it. I read it earlier today, and was like 'oh, we already know that', didn't even really wonder about the wording.

I wonder if this letter ever comes to light outside the custody case? Or should I say will it cause other effects besides Christopher seeing it early and it's obvious intent.
Anna again is going to be faced with Lorelai's interference.

Luke probably needs a letter from Lorelai because he let so few people in on his care and concern for April and has so few friends.

I think he will invite her for a cup of coffee. Seems like the thing to do ... I am guessing he will tell her that he would understand if she doesn't want to do this, but he would appreciate it. I am not thinking Lorelai will have a second of doubt, because even though their was a lot of messiness, I do feel she always wanted Luke to have a great relationship with April and if this is what it takes she will support him in any way possible ...

Maybe they will be talking and she will offer. He will be surprised and something will come up about friendship/feelings.

Yeah, I didn't even think of that. Sure, that makes sense, he will just tell her what is going on with April and the custody case. In response she will say Is there anything I can do? And he might first say no, but will change his mind and ask her this.

Or his lawyer will say he needs one and Luke will go over to the DFI while she is working or he will call again and it will be very undramatic, compared to the response Christopher will give.
