You're not seeing that they ARE promoting and featuring Luke right along with Chris. What they aren't promoting or featuring is Rory, a title character, nor her romantic lead, Logan.

Ratings dropped last season because of the introduction of April and how that storyline broke up L/L, along with the general consesus that the show had "jumped the shark". I don't remember reading anywhere, even from critics, that the reason the show began to sink was because there was "too much Luke". But I did read huge amounts of annoyance at the way Amy broke down Luke/Lorelai's romance.

But nice spin. Aren't you guys dizzy yet?

Still no TVGuide Podcast. I'm not expecting much in the way of spoilers from it however without Ausiello.

Well, Ausiello was back posting on his blog at tvguide yesterday, so he might have been around for the podcast too.

IMO a lot of Emily not liking other men for Lorelai was the fact she always say her married to Chris, she has that now and I think she will be hit hard when it ends, he dream once again shattered.

As for the other people in their lives, well I just dont' know maybe it comes down to what ever is going on in Emily's mind and if anyone can crack that mystery then I'll give them a toy LOL

Thanks, I didn't know that, he sometimes does the podcast by phone as well.

All of which revved up an independent storyline for Luke. Did that not happen? Or was I dreaming that Luke spent a good deal of screen time not with Lorelai after April was introduced?

All I know FOR SURE, is that the ratings drop can't be placed at the door of Rory or Rory/Logan nor the senior Gilmores. All whose screentime has been dropping while ALL things centered around Lorelai have increased.

which is teribble cause this show should be baised on rory/lorelai relationship the most. GG this season is not much different then some soap opera. awful.

Good (I hope MA is okay but) I've gotta go to a Blockbuster DVD sale in about 20 mins so I'll catch the podcast when I get back.

I know, some just want to blame Chris for everything. When in reality all of his scenes but 2 have been with someone whose last name is Gilmore. Lorelai, Rory, Emily or Richard. Unlike Luke. 90% + of his have been with Danes, Nardinis, townies, etc., but not Gilmores. That's what's cutting into Rory's storyline along with Emily & Richard. Not Chris & Lorelai. That's justified in the history of the show just like Lorelai's relationships with Jason, Max or Alex were. Luke getting more screen time than Rory, not the way the history of the show has gone, even when he had independent storylines. They're filling up the 43 minutes with Luke/April which crowds out the ability to have time to explore Rory.

If Luke having an independent SL is cutting into Rory's screen time, then there's an obvious solution to that (and no, it's not getting rid of Luke altogether, since there's no doubt that SP isn't going anywhere) - get LL back together and have April fit into their lives. LLA having a joint SL, clears up more time for Rory and Logan! It's as simple as that (and I'll personally be happy about both SLs).

so your beef is with MR SHOWRUNNER...who probably cause he's a man prefers to explore a man's story to a young girl's frankly i'd take a pure logan storyline over the crapfest that is rory's friends anyday....

And why did the ratings drop ? Because Amy wrote LL apart. There was no progress at all and at the end well we got partings.
I can remember a certain time in season 4 where the suits went to Amy and told her to bring them together finally because they needed it for the rating et voila what happened in season 5 ? Ah wait I can already see the response to that one. It was ALL because they introduced Logan to the show

gjoni, I'm not just talking about Rory & Logan, though they're always lovely to see. But Rory in general. Rory/Richard in particular. But her getting ready to leave school and be launched into the world. Throw in some Rory/Logan/Mitchum for good measure.

There's no need to get rid of Luke, that's not what anyone is saying. But his screen time should have never superceeded that of one of the 2 title characters, which it has this season.

I think luke's screen time has always taken up lots of space....SEASON 4 AND 2 being prime examples...the only reason imo that rory's time has been eaten up is that DR has chosen to give Lorelai more screentime....

but whatever we all knew this was coming anyways
