Lorelai does not appear to be drunk or tipsy when she is performing on stage. We know that she invites Luke to the bar but he does not appear to be there when she is performing. I think that she’s really disappointed that he’s not there and fearing that he is not coming, she starts drinking.

By the time he shows up, she’s had one too many drinks, is happy to see him and serenades him. He’s probably embarrassed by her public actions and pretends to be disinterested. She gets embarrassed and self conscious and makes her remark that it didn’t mean anything.

Watching it again and pausing it right when they show the 'audience,' you can see Lorelai sitting next to Rory (to her left, I believe). That could have been when someone else is onstage? And Luke wasn't there yet?

I figured Babette and Patty were on stage, since we can see Morey in the audience, but not Babette.

The way she waves her arms out (curtsey-like) as if she has just completed a performance and the crowd applauding seems to indicate that she did something other than making a speech.

The CW website has its extended promo up, no L/L, but what else is new? They have a weird way of promoting tv shows, I think...it looks like Lorelai's about to cry in the end of the extended promo...(while talking to Logan...)??? What's up with that?

About the global promo...if you look closely, SO many townies are at Karaoke night! I'm seeing Morey, Kirk, Lulu...

She's probably thinking Rory has enough on her plate and it's a bad time for Logan to add to it.

i see it playing out like this: lorelai goes up, laughing, having a good time, and wanting to sing to rory. and if you think about it, that song could apply to their relationship loosely, especially at this point when rory's really leaving. but i think once she's reminded of luke, or sees him, or something, she starts getting into it and singing to him.
