Think of all the hate mail they'd receive from angry fans if there wasn't a S8 to expand the LL story.

Speaking of which, has a S8 been confirmed?

Mine won't. Because they're repeating what's already been done. We've been there, seen that. Don't need a retread.

I'm going on the premise that there is one, so they are dragging out L/L, and we will see everything we want to see in S8.
DR doesn't share our interest in seeing LL together or exploring how the heck they would function as a couple after all this.

What makes anyone think that DR is interested in how April fits in, how Rory fits in, whether Emily and Richard ever fit in - all the questions left unseen and unanswered this year. Does he really even believe they could overcome

If there isn't a S8, I'm still not going to be depressed. Life is too short to get that worked up over a tv show. The Virginia Tech shooting taught me that if nothing else.
Uh, this is a sad day to discuss that - but that's also part of why people turn to TV. We all have a need for entertainment; it's strongest But when real-life downturns or tragedies strike.

Clearly there's no comparison between the VT and TV. That goes without saying. But when real life deals another bad hand, is when people need actual entertainment even more. And what this show has done, is killed that capacity in some of us.

We don't need shows to suck us in, pretend to be one thing, offer public lies by the showrunner, so we fall for them - because how interesting is a show if you don't care and only superficially enjoy the comedy? - then have those feelings betrayed and trampled on. We now learn we're likely never to get a pay-off, never get them back, and we'd have done better to turn off two years ago.

This has killed my capacity to fall for another show. I wouldn't dare let myself care again, and many families also wouldn't risk another "bonding moment" like Tuesday evenings once were. Something has been lost, and it's obviously not in the same ballpark as the tragedy at VT. But that doesn't make what ASP and DR did any less wrong.

Especially now that we've been teased with Short S8.

Hee. I don't care. I love the DC and the global promo. Makes me smile, makes me chuckle and makes me hopeful. So cute. So sweet.

These two are so clearly made for each other.

I was thinking that with the singing in 7.20 and then in 7.21 there also needs to be some singing in 7.22. I'm thinking that Luke and Lorelai should bust into You're The One That I Want in the middle of the town square.

Lorelai comes to the party, sees it all thrown together, absolutely amazed. She starts asking who did it. Miss. Patty says Luke of course. Then the music starts to swell, disco ball and lights start a-flashing. We see Luke standing in the gazebo watching the townies having so much fun. He turns and notices Lorelai walking slowly towards him, an evil, but delightful smile on her face. He looks side to side and starts singing - I've got chills, they're multiplying, and I'm losin' control..... Lorelai gets to the stairs and starts to walk up them - You better shape up, cause I need a man,and my heart is set on you.... and to my heart I must be true. Standing in the middle of the gazebo they smile together and looking right into each others eyes -you're the one that I want, ooh, ooh, ooh, honey!. (The townies chime in as the Pink Ladies and T-Birds ooo, ooo, ooo). Lorelai starts circling the gazebo - If you're filled with affection, you're too shy to convey, meditate my direction, feel your way.. and continues down the stairs. Luke quickly follows after her - I better shape up, cause you need a man.. They walk together around the town square.. You're the one that I want, ooo, ooo, ooo, honey! (Townies again chiming in ooo, ooo, ooo). They get into a car, drive through a sea of townies, and fly off to the sunset, together, and happy.

Bored? Never.

If you guessed anything but 7.22, I'd say you're probably right. lol.

Not officially.

I'm still mulling those comments from David Grae. I love how we're too stupid to know what would be good TV. Amy might have left them with that storyline, and hooray for them for being interested in where it might go, but it could've been dealt with in a much shorter arc. There was no reason to go that far down the road, and drag it out as long as they did -- guess they've never heard of a U-Turn.

I'm just worried it might be anti-climatic. And yeah, a kiss between L/L right now would be a HUGE thing, but only because of the crap that preceeded it. JMO of course, but I can't shake the feeling that we've been played.

But I'll probably squee like the rest of yah lol, but more for Luke. I guess I just don't care about Lorelai by herself anymore.

I apologize for my comment. I'm extra sensitive today. I'm starting to enjoy GG, and it is working as an escape for me.

But you both are right. I can't count on DR seeing L/L the way we do. I guess I'm hopeful because I have enjoyed the promos and DC, and I also like the spoilers. If there is no S8, or DR gives us a bad S8, well, I've got a few other shows I enjoy to take GG's place. But right now I'm enjoying it.

Now that's an escape! Works for me.

What I've learned from GG is that you can invest in a ship, but superficially. You can't depend on it in any substantial way. L/L is the only ship I invested in more than superficially. Learned my lesson on that one!

However, on the upside, I now have the ability to just enjoy a show for what it is at the moment. So if a show has ups and downs, I can enjoy the ups, without focusing on the downs. That's my philosophical thought for the day.

I know we've "been there, done that" but what other choice do I have? I can't undo all the crap set up by ASP (even though I have become more sympathetic to Lorelai) and what can I say? I'm a total sap and I just love watching SP and LG act together - they mesmerize me. So I'm happy, godammit!!

I've been mulling too. And I have to say, that my mulling those comments tends to put me along the same thought line as caf. If it was good TV last year, why would it be good TV in season 8? My spec? That they are "together" and we get them just past where we were at the end of season 5 in the series finale. Boy, would I love to be wrong.
