But in the maze (yeah, yeah I keep go back to that), we saw a bit of banter, we saw an easy flow of conversation, we saw smiles. And then bam, the next scene we have of them together and you'd never know the scene in the maze happened. At least for me anyway, lol.
But... It's the first time after they apologize to each other. They let the other see how they felt about the break-up and now they are back to "knowing they like each other but not sure how the other one feels". I think it's right. It's L/L .I dunno.. it feels right to me.

I understand the apologies making things awkward, 'cause all that stuff they've been repressing is back out in the open. But I really don't think they're already back at the "liking each other" point. Maybe the "what are we?" point, just barely the "I miss my friend" feelings, but that's it.

Thanks for all the new info from yesterday and thanks for the new thread.

At the party, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Christopher (David Sutcliffe) are reunited for the first time since their separation, and both are relieved to find they can still be friends.
I take this to mean that LC have not been communicating with each other over the phone or by any other means seeing their surprise to discover they can still be friends. It seems however that Emily has kept in touch with him seeing that he’s a guest at the graduation party she planned at her house. I hope she has gotten over her desire to see them together and isn’t meddling behind her daughter’s back.

But when did he start using small cups? Didn’t he serve coffee to all his customers in big cups? Lorelai certainly kept him in business where coffee was concerned. Similar to Craig’s spec, maybe after Lorelai stopped coming into the diner, his sales in coffee went down and he switched over to the smaller cups for economic reasons never expecting her to return.

And it's the first time she enters the diner. After that horrible night. And everyone is mentioning that "it's been a long time" Kirk even knows the date, so I think the past is bashed right into LL's faces. So it has to be awkward...

Yeah. you are right.. Heh. I guess that was what I really meant. Not like like but more like as in we are getting back to being friends and I'd like it and I want things to be normal between us but it's not just there yet. I guess I just think it feels right when you have been through what they have. It's bound to be awkward. It's the first time she is back in the diner. It was supposed to be awkward. YMMV

ggobsessed: I just looked at it as nothing more than practicality. When have we ever seen them actually pour a coffee from a big mug into a take away thing before? I just don't think there is anything to it thats all. Like so many other things it might just be one to let pass. lol

Thanks for the new thread, gjoni.

As for L/L's uncomfortableness in the DC...I chalk it up to the neutral ground thing. I mean, in SSS (Santa's Secret Stuff) when Luke went to the Inn to ask Lorelai to write him the reference letter it was majorly awkward. Now I know L/L have talked more since that episode, but it has all taken place out in the open and most run in's have been accidental. Lorelai going into the diner was a decision made by her. Luke sees that and probably doesn't know what to think of it. His awkwardness and not knowing how to react is perfect. At least I think so.

I really should be doing work. Eh well.

After the apologies though, I personally saw this huge weight lifted from their shoulders. Obviously not everything was going to be perfect, but I felt like they kind of finally felt like "Phew! We don't have to tip toe around each other anymore." So awkward, yes, but.. eh. I don't know, lol. I can't explain myself, lol. I just felt it could have gone a little smoother since they had cleared the air a little bit, lol.

But it's honestly hard to judge one scene without the context of the whole episode, so my opinion could very well change after we see what happens after.

The LL situations following the apologies are intentional as opposed to accidental (as elle mentioned). So I understand the awkwardness. For once I understand Rosenthal's thought process. Sort of.

I agree with you there. It was not going to be perfect which is why I think the DC was great. It showed that it is not just that easy. It takes some getting used to and being comfortable. I do get what you mean, totally, I just feel they portrayed that "the first meeting" great. (Not first meeting obviously, but the first one after you bare yourself to the other one.) Heh. Maybe it's just personal experience and preference coming in to play here.

But I think it's great that they let them be uncomfortable, only because we WILL have that S8. I dunno.. it just seems right to me. We know they will fight later which is another step forward. I just love it all! lol

I'd probably have a bigger issue if they weren't awkward around each other.

Btt: What I love about the DC is that Babette and Patty are so happy that Lorelai is back to the dinner and also Luke seems uncomfortable, but happy.
But it made me said when Kirk mentioned the 21. Mai... 10 months... reminded me of June third.... btw. I still have one problem, I h since then and no-one was able to explain it to me yet.... Why did Lorelai freak out around Mai 21. when the original marriage was on June 3.? Why? Would she have been tired of waiting under normal circumstances also?
Ideas? Exlpanations? Suggestions? (other than a completely loss of ASPs mind)....
I think she had enough and after the talk she knew it would be now or never = communication was not the good thing that day

Thanks for the new thread Gjoni!

I loved the DC! Everything about it ... Kirk "face-time with the boss", Miss Patty and Babette, and of course the uncomfortableness between Luke and Lorelai. I did feel both were happy to see one another, even though uncomfortable. Lorelai and her big sigh of relief to be outside again, also felt for me as being very relieved that was over and done with. As if she knew, sure, it will be uncomfortable the first time ... but it had to happen one time to try and become friends again. And she did it ... went in and that first time back in the diner was dealt with!

And I do feel that is all she is thinking about right now, back to being friends. And I can understand that Lorelai sees the 'bickering' at the car shop/sale as a good thing after that DC, because well that is what they do or did, opposed to trying to small talk about the weather ... yep, sure was warm outside

OMG *bows head in shame*. I totally missed that the DC is out. Off to watch...

ETA:

One amazing DC. I'm almost crying and laughing at the same time. I'm not leaving my computer all day.
They are talking about the weather, god darn it. That's funny. And Kirk and all of them. How dissapointed was Lorelai when Luke said he was really good. LOL
Look at her pouring that coffee into the togo cup. LOL
Amazing. Wow, I can't wait.
its like he is lying or he is really good because he is finally over her and has april and he feels maybe he doesn't need her anymore and of course that crushes her - but good lets see her crushed because personally i am so tired of luke saying how good he is - without her be a man say you want her one day just not out loud

My problem isn't the awkwardness. I get the awkwardness. It's the choppiness of the awkwardness. Or something along those lines, lol. Because I end up feeling so uncomfortable for them. Whatever. It's obviously not explainable, lol. I liked it better when I didn't watch it with sound. How's that? lol.

It's been a long day and it's not even 10.

I don't know. I watched the DC again last night and it's not that I hate the scene or anything, and I did laugh at the way Luke mumbled about opening the diner or whatever, but it was just so uncomfortable. I guess I didn't like it over all because I felt uncomfortable. It's hard to watch LL trying to work things out. Everything seemed to flow so much more naturally when they were together in the maze.

We saw Lorelai's reaction after she walked out of the diner, I wonder if it'll cut back into the diner so we can see Luke banging his head against the wall, lol. Or all the townies staring at him and he can look up and just be like "What?" and walk away.
i personally think the cup meant that here i didn't or don't remember where your cup is - this is how it is now - you don't like it - who cares let discuss something so insane like the weather because hey we are both adults - he is obviously still hurt but covers it up with oh i am fine crap - its annoying
exactly we are uncomfortable because they are so - because they were never like that before and we don't like them like this
