Sounds like DR might be hanging onto that ace just in case he gets that eighth season.

If he doesn't, we leave Lorelai in a legal limbo only half-divorced from Christopher. I'm running out of words to express my disgust.

And yes, I enjoyed 7-18 - but not enough to open the Pandora's box of previous seasons. I still can't watch those, knowing what's to come.

It looks like DR won't ever go far enough to undo that damage, to give that back to us. But oh, Christopher will get yet another closure with Lorelai. Like that's the most important issue on the show. Seriously, was that ever what the majority of fans cared about, or were even interested in?

leonana, my reactions aren't only about "shipping" or whether to ever ship another couple. I enjoyed West Wing (if you saw it) and I did think Josh and Donna should end up together but that was never central to the story. And when the writers pissed around with them in the Gaza arc, coming so close then withdrawing, I got annoyed and lost much of my interest. Teasing isn't what it used to be, in TV these days, and either I'm weird or as usual the showrunners haven't caught up with the audience. I do have a few friends who lost all interest in Lorelai's love life after Partings, and that I can respect, even though I was dumb enough to cling to hope.

I don't honestly know how long I would have felt dissatisfied and even unhappy if they'd merely split up LL. We'd grown to know and invest in them, as part of a wider story not in a vaccuum. They have great chemistry but if you marooned them on a desert island, I'm not sure quite how long my interest would last - it would be fun for a while, but then?

This was also a story about a single parent, and a mother/daughter relationship that hooked and interested so many viewers. And - with the usual caveat that an apparently small minority of kids from single parent families feel unable to dislike Christopher - for many if not most of the single-parent subsect, Partings was a punch in the gut, and the C/L marriage followed up with a fatal body blow to our ability to trust or enjoy a show again. (Many viewers felt the same for equally valid moral or emotional reasons it was really a betrayal of everyone who believed ASP's hogwash.)

And for DR - the issue this year should never have been what Christopher meant to Lorelai (which still isn't clear, btw - it sounds like C/L willl learn they can still be friends, when really, what those two need to learn is how to manage without being friends.

The issue this year should have been how Lorelai ever let herself sink so low as to turn to him of all people. That was the drama we needed but will never get.

Thanks for the info, Saranoh.

I'm only relatively calm about the info because it seems season eight will happen. Otherwise, I'd be hoppin' furious about not getting a Luke's bed hopping Lorelai.

Ugh. I just love all the LL spoilers we had for ep. 18 and 19. It's all so great. Then everything afterwards just makes it seem like LL are going back to their own old routines about dealing with how they feel. Journey? psh. Weren't LL supposed to learn something? Or is the one step forwards and two steps back really going to keep continuing with these two?

But, no. She goes on denying things. She has to be drunk in the first place to admit her feelings, then she takes them back the second she thinks they might not be reciprocated? He gets hurt again, and ends up thinking she doesn't feel how he feels. They can't communicate or take the risk on their own without being totally sure the others in too. The circles they're going around in from ep. 19-21 are just annoying. When are they going to be able to make progress that isn't immediately followed by something that ruins that progress?

Who else is betting the LL kiss is just going to be some little thing where she gives him a sweet kiss when she sees the party he set up. Then they, and we, can have all summer (or forever) to ponder what that meant.

I mean, I can understand the waiting to have sex thing, I don't want them jumping into bed the moment they make up. They can take their time, let things calm down with Rory leaving and just be together and continue to work out the issues that they'll still have unresolved. And things are just so busy in ep. 22 that I don't see where it could fit in, anyways. But just the fact that ep. 21 and 22 are so busy already really isn't making me see any reason to even be remotely optimistic about this kiss and the "understanding."

As long as there's an 8th seaon, I'm fine with this. I won't even mind the anticipation/waiting. But I'm just so worried that something is going to fall through with the negotations, and we are going to be left with a meant-to-be-a-season-finale series finale. Then I will be sad

because in an essence he was the last straw in her complete nervous breakdown - he was like a cab that was protective of her wouldn't question and she apparently needed that because last year was a whole year of a nervous breakdown so in essence this woman went for six months leading to a nervous breakdown and chris was essentially her depression aka her actual nervous breakdown that entire time with him -she was someone else and when you apparently have a breakdown you go through things - that was her going through it

Well if Lore and Chris are still not legally divorced then I'm not sure I like her kissing Luke. The season/series canNOT end with her still "married" to Chris. It.Just.Can't.

I fraken hope so!

...as Luke said in the HBM you can't fix everything before moving on as he tried with April last season, they need to get together and then continue to work on things.

Define "good", Saranoh.

There are conflicting spoilers for 721 on the main post. Luke is either at the graduation or he's not. Which one is it?

It's an educated spec. Based on rumors. So, don't put any stock in it. LOL

Let me just throw this out there.

We're assuming L/L get back together in the finale now, right? And if it happens due to Rory's party... when exactly would they have sex? Are they going to leave Rory's party and have sex? Or are they going to abandon Rory her last night in Stars Hollow before she goes to Iowa to have sex? Of course, that theory goes out the window if they get back together before the party gesture, but otherwise, it makes sense to me.

Now, if this was Chris we were talking about, I'm pretty sure he'd try to get Lorelai to have sex with him and leave Rory the night before she goes to Iowa. But not Luke.

I see the point about the bedhopping thing, too. Though if this is the last season and they don't give us that to preserve Lorelai's already shattered image, then I won't be too happy. But if there's a season 8, then fine, I can wait. It's better for them anyway to not rush. But that's only my diplomatic stance if there IS a season 8.
