But in the maze (yeah, yeah I keep go back to that), we saw a bit of banter, we saw an easy flow of conversation, we saw smiles. And then bam, the next scene we have of them together and you'd never know the scene in the maze happened. At least for me anyway, lol.
But I didn't get a feeling that it was as uncomfortable for Luke when he went to the DFI for the letter, maybe it was just me.

Okay anything new?

When he was dealing with Michel? Yeah, he was fine. When he was dealing with Lorelai? He was pretty nervous, it seemed to me.

That they are "together" and we get them just past where we were at the end of season 5 in the series finale. Boy, would I love to be wrong.
Well, Dawn Ostroff didn't think it was "good TV."

I agree.
My happiness for the spoilers and a L/L reunion is bittersweet.
Underneath is a seething resentment for the knuckleheads who took us on this "Journey". gads. I should be grateful they are getting things on track.
But I can't forgive that easily, right now.
I need to be eternally sunshined from the end of season 6 to most of this season.

Mm. Luke-o Zuko in tight pants. Yowsa.

I was told that DR doesn't want to make Lorelai look like a bed hopper(please no snarky comments about "Partings"), and that's why we won't get an L/L sex scene this season. I was told that we'll definitely get one(or some) in season 8(if there is one), though.

You're not ready to make nice? Yeah. I sort of have that same bit of pissed off seething away, as well.

Which is why I don't understand why the writers are still out there defending their screw-up. It's like the Bush administration is running GG -- "Oh no, everything is going great. We're very happy with how things are progressing. Mission accomplished!"

uh huh.

Hm, sounds good to me, fair enough, don't kill me for that, please.

It's frustrating...but I'm trying to stay positive!

At the very least, I want all the sentiments in place. Like at the end of a cheesy movie, when the girl runs to the guy in the pouring rain and says: "it was always you" -- fade to black. You know? That feeling. I want to KNOW that this is it. I want the whole Gilmore world to know that this is it! I'm scared that if season 8 negotiations fall through at the last minute, this sentiment is going to be choppy and not so cohesive...
ah the notebook = yes lots of rain - everytime Lorelai and Luke are together its a kaboom moment - we just have to throw away out images of chris yet it will be hard = but an eye roll between luke and lorelai is better than an ily from c to l -

Then we must have a season 8! I want the before and after sex scenes.

But they are so easy to make.

I am just curious, if it has been 10 months since she was last in the diner, and it is 5/6 months after that she married Christopher, and they were married for about 3 months, do we have to deal with the divorce/whatever in season 8? They have only been split for a month or two at this point. Bleh. Or perhaps I should take my usual advice and ignore the timeline.

Ya know one thing that bothers me about the 7.21 description? It says LC meet for the first time since their separation. Being separated and divorced are two completley different things. And I can't imagine Luke would get back with Lorelai if she was still legally married to Christopher. I'm wondering if LC talk about how far along they are in the divorce process at some point in 7.21. Even if it's just a passing comment like "I got the papers. I just need to get them notarized and we'll be all set. " "Okay. Thank you."

Gee, great. (not directed at you, Sara - thanks as always for sharing)

See, what he fails to realize is that so many of us, in some illogical misguided emotional way, were clinging to the hope of seeing enough of LL together to wipe out the disgust and bitterness from all the C/L scenes.

Obviously not everyone agrees - but does DR realize how insulting and unbearable that was for many fans to watch, or even hear about? One hears that reaction all the time, in real life even more than online.

Does he realize that it could have taken a year without Christopher to undo the bitter stench of Partings?

Does he realize that most of us don't care if DS is a nice guy in person. We'll never meet him. But for many, his character has destroyed the once-beloved wonderful characters we let into our living rooms once a week for so many years.

eta: Excellent comparison in this post, voncey.

But are they really defending it? I thought the remark about "wouldn't have gone there"(except for ASP's mess) was rather telling. What could they realistically say? "We were stuck with David Sutcliff's contract and had to make up some asinine story to go around it..."

From the Columbia Daily Spectator interview:

"Happily ever after isn't a show, it's an ending. To do a show every week, you need conflict," said Rosenthal. "Sometimes fans want the romantic couple to be together and be happy all the time, but that doesn't provide the most interesting drama."

I don't know what fans of other shows want, but most fans of this show, fans of LL have this to say in response:

Even without the memories of lying, cheating, and jumping into a new marriage - doesn't integrating two step-children, dealing with Emily and Richard's endless disapproval, figuring out where to live (after Luke renovated the house - without enough bedrooms - then Christopher lived and left his flatscreen there). There's always been ample conflict material in a new marriage, and there's so much more to deal with now.

If the writers' vision is so limited that all they can see is "your're pretty, no you're pretty" then I give up. I still can't believe how severely lacking they are in imagination, in understanding, in just about everything, except a bag of cheap shock-tricks.
Well said caf. When will they finally get it into that thick skull of theirs that we don't need LL to hold hands and skip around their white picket fence all day whistling show tunes. We do want them to hold hands sometimes, and have a home together (perhaps with a fence, white or not, around it), but to do so while keeping their unique often bantering and clashing personalities alive, as they tackle everyday issues of couples, of this specific couple. Just get them together already, fully committed, and let them deal.
