Is it wise for Rory to ask Lorelai for help?

But I agree it could trigger Lorelai to go to Luke and put her cards on the table so to speak. But since ep 21 ends with the girls riding off in the carriage I would think they would got back to the CS for the night and Lorelai would stay there.

SO maybe the next day (ep 22) she goes to Luke's and opens up.

Couldn't it be because of Lorelai's failed marriage that Rory is scared to say yes to Logan? That whole like mother, like daughter thing.

I think that right now, friendship is what Lorelai wants from Luke. Yes she loves him, but I don't think she's ready to be with him yet. By the time Lorelai sings the song, she and Luke have only been friends again for one episode. Pursuing Luke right away without giving it any thought would just be repeating her impulsive pattern. Possibly, but I would think it's more about Rory's independence/future. Rory goes to Lorelai because she's not sure how to factor Logan into the equation (remember their little exchange in HBM?) but she wants to do what she's always wanted to do, that being this job in Iowa.

Think we'll get anything in the podcast tomorrow? I'm out for the night

But Logan proposes at the Gilmore's party the day before graduation, Rory just turns him down the next day. Lorelai could go home that night after the party.

I'd say yes, but Rory's relationships with men have been so different from her mother's. It's good reason for a conversation though.

I'd laugh if Rory goes to Lorelai and says "Mom, what do I do?" and Lorelai says "Don't let him take you to Paris."

Ha.

As long as DSR is the showrunner. New showrunner, all promises are revisited.

Well as I said she is a Lorelai.

IMO Lorelai doesn't know what she wants and the is part of the reason for what has happened over the last season.

I do find it ironic how she defended her friendship with Luke to Chris but is yet to do that with others.

That part makes me laugh every time I watch it. You can see him kicking himself for being so dumb and not being able to come up with anything better to say. I love Luke!

Why would Lorelai have to defend her friendship with Luke to anyone else? Doesn't everyone else want them to be friends? We know Sookie does. The town does. So who would she have to defend her friendship to exactly?

Good question. I think she's past the point of having to defend it to Emily and Richard. Is there anyone else?

Although I'm still scratching my head in confusion over Logan proposing to Rory after letting her know not to plan her life around him, I don't see anything wrong with Rory asking her mom for help. Even though Lorelai doesn't have a good track record (currently anyway) with the whole marriage thing, she does know Rory very well and can offer advice or at least just some perspective.

What I Learned From TV This Year

Quote:
Divorce isn’t a big deal anymore—so go on and get casually married: Britney’s done it twice. J-Lo is on rock number three. Jen and Brad couldn’t last, neither could Jessica and Nick. Marriage is fun and all, but when it comes to working out the kinks, why bother? This season on The Gilmore Girls, Luke and Lorelai’s meant-to-be romance was put on hold when Lorelai broke things off to reconcile with her baby’s daddy, Christopher. On a trip to France, the relationship-challenged duo tied the knot. It was only afterwards that Lorelai realized she didn’t love Christopher anymore. Oops. To Lorelai’s credit, she tried to overcome her fears of commitment. Since when is marriage a baby step? It seems that there’s a writer/producer at Gilmore who dreams of becoming the next Aaron Spelling.

Maybe she keep sto admit it to herself, It just sounds weird in the promo when talking to Sookie she's unsure where they stand but she was so sure when talking to Chris about the letter.

OT - productive today, just made a banner for ep 150, I'll post it when I get home (5 hours).

ETA - thanks for posting that Mots
