While Lorelai needs some signs and reassurence and complaints about lack of those, Luke plans the Bon Voyage party for Rory, and FOR Lorelai even when he KNOWS(because he himself heard when she herself said) the drunken serenade meant nothing.
This is true. For all Lorelai's talk of a leap of faith, Luke is the one to leap, without any expectation of getting anything in return. I guess a 'leap of reciprocation' is what we get from Lorelai.

In my little corner of fantasyland, I would have loved if, during that talk in front of the diner when Lorelai said you just have to take a leap of faith - was to hear Luke say "is that what you did with Chris? Take a leap of faith?" or something - I know it would never happen because I think they have decided to just ignore her marrying someone else in order to get to the finish line, but honestly, I think if I had been Luke having that conversation - I would have asked/mentioned something about her marrying Chris.

IMO at this stage any mention of Chris would set them back, not help them out.

Liz was right though, he needs to make a move and I guess next week he does, I still don't see why he has to make to move, she should talk to him about the song and other stuff. They said sorry in the HBM but more is needed, just a pity we are unlikely to see any of it.

Night all...

But how does the dc and what she says fit with "this might be my last shot" from the audio promo ? The line sounds so familiar. Didn't she use that with Chris or something ?
Does she make a last attempt towards Luke but he is "faster" because of the party ?

I just have to keep reminding myself that Lorelai doesn't know what we do. She doesn't know Luke couldn't get the song out of his head. She doesn't know that he was actually getting excited about what it might have meant. She doesn't know that he got her a necklace to show her he still cares. She doesn't know he overheard what she said to Patty and Babetter (and yes, I agree that was a badly written and directed scene, but it's what it is).

All she knows is that she made an embarassing, drunken display pouring out feelings she may not have even been ready to deal with to a man who has given no inidcation that he wants any more to be her friend and bantering partner again, and that the next time she saw him he practically shoved her out of his diner with coffee to go and a muffin and donut he practically threw at her. I don't blame her for being cautious and trying to be all "whatever, dude" about it.

Now that I've made my peace with the fact that we're not going to get a true L/L reconciliation until (almost) the end of the episode, I'm kind of enjoying all the hijinks and misunderstandings. At least we know there will a (IMHO) good payoff.

I just really hope that all the specs are right and that L/L will take the boat trip together this summer. That would even be a good way of showing us that they'll have lots of time alone to talk and really work through things (along with . . . you know . . .all the other stuff they'd be doing on the boat )

Maybe it is after Sookie tells her about how Luke did everything, worked all night that she says it to Sookie - maybe realizing that his doing the party and thanking him is an opportunity for her last shot. We are obviously set up for that by the DC where she says it's done or whatever - so after that she decides to give it one more chance.

Thanks for the TS Craig.

Poor Luke. What an awful life of servitude he has ahead of him. "Luke, you didn't refill my coffee cup all the way to the top! Don't you love me anymore? Luke, can you make 400 burgers for the DFI summer picnic? What? You have a busy day at the diner? Don't you love me Luke? I didn't get the purple wallpaper because you didn't like it? Can't you ever do anything to show me you love me???"

What a load of crap this is. So Lorelai hasn't learned a friggin thing on her journey; other than "it's just not right" with Dopey. Puh-leeze.

Ooh my brain is working again, Ooh is the right word not Oow or Ow.

BTW - I'm up to the end of the Liz scene, should have it done tomorrow night if I'm not too tired.

Okay off to sleep now...

I would love them to take a trip, some days on the boat then drive to a roll-a-coaster ride, that would be a fun trip.

now night, really...

What's even more bothersome is knowing this is the type of emotionless (both Rory and Lorelai in the scene) stuff we get AFTER the script was sent back to make it more emotional. Hard to imagine a scene with less emotion given they are both talking about the men they love - hate to think what the script was like before LG sent it back. Yikes.

Yep it's looking pretty good for Luke isn't it ? You have no grand gestures for me - oh well the next guy is waiting for me somewhere. Hey maybe she can follow Logan. He is good with grand gestures
But I think she will stick around now. It's not worth the hassle you know. She isn't getting any younger, her daughter is leaving and she will be alone and before the cats show up on her porch again she takes the old dude back. He seems to have learned a few things on his journey unlike her though. But you know she is the heroine so wherever she goes everyone will follow.

What a bitter, cynical place this is. There is one episode left of a show we've all loved and adored for 7 seasons and yet all most can do is moan, complain, and nitpick into oblivion. Now would seem like the perfect time to ignore inconsistancies and watch the final hour of this show unravel. It's going to be over before long so why not at least attempt to enjoy it's final minutes instead of hacking it to bits and pieces?
