So Luke throwing the party is opening her eyes and once again she realized what a great guy he is and that she loves him ?!
Luke has to pull out the grand gestures over and over again for the rest of his life so Missy doesn't start doubting his feelings for her ?!

All the time in the world - right. The karaoke night was 2 weeks ago, she denied it in the diner where he works and where the chance of him overhearing it was a given.
We should accept that Lorelai doesn't want to jump again but Luke has to or what ?

I still think Lorelai´s monologue about Luke is strange. She doesn´t know any excuses why she should stop loving Luke.There´s the word again: Denial!

The Luke stuff didn't convince me she is over him, plus we know how the episode/season/series ends!

I think she means it like no more excuses for Lukes behaviour. In her eyes, he does nothing to move forward concerning the relationship. So she doesn't want to find any more excuses to explain to herself why it is like that. I can understand her very well. She sings a song, she comes into the diner, and he does nothing. She doesn't knows the fact that he overheard her talking to M.P and Babette and that he bought her a neclace. And she's still very confused and wants to be shure what she feels. I think she knows that even if there is the possibility for another shot, it will be defenitely the last one.

How did she not know Luke heard, he was standing right there!

Luke doesn't know how she feels (I doubt Lorelai knows how she feels) Luke saw her marry another guy months after a 2 year relationship with him, from his POV she's over him, she was drunk in the bar singing and has said nothing to show him she's even interested. I thought maybe with the song and then he heard what she said to Patty and Babette.

BTW do the ever leave Luke's any more, maybe they hang around to watch when Lorelai goes into there to get coffee.

oy with the torturing! I understand her need to see a gesture from Luke but for crying out loud she denied it meant anything in his own diner. And for this i blame the writers. They needed a contrivance to keep them apart till the last minute but this was plain stupid! The whole scene screamed "he heard you".
That's what happens when the showrunner believes he's got one more season.

I'm not trying to understand Lorelai, because both the directing and writing are terrible. We know, and we've even recently seen, that they still love each other, they never stopped loving each other despite everything. And they're really both written to behave as if they've learned abolutely nothing, zero, zilch. All these hints they randomly throwout at each other and then search in the blindness for some reciprocation. BS! After all the detours and mistakes, they needed to just say something directly and unambiguously already. Jeez! This is not season three or four, for crying out loud, and there's no time left, did the writers not realize this!!!

I just hope the new understanding, if there really is one, isn't the kiss, but some talk, some verbal acknowledgement that this is truly it for them, no more waiting, no more tip toeing around each other, testing and trying. I'm in for a huge disappointment, aren't I?

I was just about to say that. As much as I love the guy he hasn't done nothing to prove Lorelai he has feelings for her.

You guys here on JJ thread are very negative. I think you're negative about the show ending and you taking it all on Lorelai. She looks hurt and doubtful and not happy at all about saying she's over Luke.
She's not throwing a hissy fit, she's not saying she's princess Lorelai and that the knight in shiny armour has to do some big dangerous gesture to prove his love to her.

She's just waiting for a sign. Ans since he never told her how he felt about the song or that he's gotten her a necklace she NEEDS a sign.

Plus I know this is the JJ thread but did anyone notice Rory's comment? Her "WHAT?!" when Lorelai said she's over Luke?
And I don't think it was referred to the fact that LL being together was sort of a canon in SH, as much as a "what? how's that possible? you still have feelings for each other, clearly!".

It's not ONLY Lorelai's fault but also Luke.

Well Miss Patty and Babette maybe. Kirk probably sleeps at the diner so he can keep track in his back organizer of how many times Lorelai visits the place.

Apparently not and Rosie should have cooked his own soup and not let everybody else interfere. He was the freaking show runner for crying out loud.

One up side of no S8, we won't have to live with the possibility of L&L miss communicating for 13 eps.

Thats the possitive thing about no S8....no more crappy writing, no more drama, no more dragging out LL......hopefully we´ll get some great fanfics.

btw - do LL go on a boat trip ??? Why hasn´t anyone mention something about the end ??

Heh, you make a very good point. Although I'm somewhat disappointed about the last minute-one (two if we're really lucky) kiss- little (or no?) talking resolution, I'm now glad that they're ending the show. One shudders to think what 'drama' L/L would have faced in season 8. It's just a pity that, as far as L/L are concerned they seemed to have learned exactly nothing about communication. Lorelai isn't speaking up and expects Luke to read her mind and Luke is slow to make a move and is required to make a 'big gesture' in order to stop Lorelai from walking away. For a season where certain relationships were discussed in depth, ad nauseum (ie. L/C), it's a pity L/L couldn't have had the same treatment. But, no, obviously keep L/L exactly as they ever were, complete with sitcomy 'misunderstanding' hijinks followed by a last minute reconciliation is just so much more satisfying that an actual discussion of you know, feelings.

I would really like to see how s7 would have played out if they knew it was the end. I bet we wouldn't have heard any of these stupidities they have Lorelai say in the last episodes. They just wanted to prolong the reconciliation.
