I would have thought she'd learn to move past that but i guess thats what happens when the "talent" start poking their heads in the writing.

I think she learned a lot from being with Chris. I think she knows how to better communicate given the chance. I really do think she is truly over Chris and she left him thinking that she'd never have her shot at the "whole package"

She has made the effort with Luke instead of sitting around moping. She thinks that he doesn't feel the same, so she's ready to move on. That's pretty mature.

You can hate Lorelai all you want, I just don't see her character from the same perspective you do. I'll always love her character. She's flawed sure, but I don't see her as this selfish person that some do.

I do agree with a lot of what you're saying aussiekate, even though I've just spent several posts bitching about Lorelai. I guess I'm stuck on the fact that if Lorelai thinks Luke doesn't love her why was her reaction to the karaoke not oh my god, I've made a fool of myself in front of Luke but rather gee, I wonder if these 'feelings' are nostalgia or not. If Lorelai had had a different reaction at the start of 7.21, then I'd probably feel differently. And I agree that Luke should have have made a move in 7.21 but then I also think of the fact that Lorelai's declaration was made when she was drunk and she later said she still wasn't certain of what she felt and I have to wonder why should he bother.

Given the playing out of the misunderstanding, I can understand Lorelai saying she's over him. It's the fact that LG plays it so emotionlessly that it really feels like she's saying Luke's just not worth the effort and she'll only want him again if he makes these big lavish gestures and makes her the centre of the universe.

maybe its the fact that lg phoned it in. But seriously the dialogue is lacking even if the sentiment is there. Why oh why do they have her say such harsh cruel things.

I see your point but I don't look at it that way. Perhaps I'm stupid or it's self preservation or just a basic need finish watching this show happy. Who knows?

I just believe strongly in the school of thought that doesn't make Luke a total victim in all of this and I do think it's about time he returned the gesture. I love Luke and I understand his hesitancy but relationships aren't a one way street. It's time to step up. He loves her - hell he brought that necklace because of karaoke night.......man, if only that denial diner scene had played out differently....

The writers really, really dropped the ball on this one so I am gonna have to fanwank it! I'll just keep watching the promo!
