Yeah, I've got nothing to add today at all.

Actually, I hate being spoiled. This is the only show for which I'm spoiled and I only started looking for spoilers late in S6. I wanted to know when the unpleasant episodes would end -- I never dreamed the unpleasantness was going to be followed by ugliness and that it'd take a year to get good news.

Yeah. I can rewatch all the old episodes, but I tried to watch season 6 and I just got pissed off. I just couldn't watch them. Maybe this summer. (And it isn't just the LL meltdown. I hated the way the rift was "resolved".)

I don't know, if it's a consequence that the showrunner of GG is a man now, but it's interesting to watch how he used a car issues to resolve some problems and to show how great Luke is. He used it in "Philadelphia" episode with Richard's car being a little low on gas and I loved the double meaning of Emily's words about filling it "with premium, not whatever sludge they try to pass off as regular". And we got a new version of car symbolism in the last episode. Lorelai's jeep having, according to Gypsy, "total internal destruction" is in my opinion a symbol of Lorelai, exactly, a symbol of Lorelai's heart: There was a place the little place where Rory signed her name in permanent marker.
Lorelai caused her own total internal destruction, destruction of what she was before, when she decided to go to Christopher and then she continued it getting married, despite the "check-engine light" indicating that she's going in the wrong direction. She said to Jackson: "I guess that check-engine light is not just a suggestion". She ignored the red light, she did what she did, she got what she deserved. If you ignore the inner red light, the gut, the self-destruction is programmed to happen. A new engine, with clean history - no accidents, no failed emissions -is needed to repair a broken heart.
Too much symbolism?

Season 6 is painful, I watched it three times in a row when I rented the DVD's and it didn't get any easier, even though I knew they were going to find their way back to each other. I must admit, however, that I find it interesting to watch the LL relationship fall apart, just because it was such a roll reversal for them.

[rant]And the DSR wasted most of the season for Lorelai to go on this crap journey which ends in divorce, nice story. I still want to know what happened to the strong independent Lorelai, did her love for Luke and then the break up have that much of an effect on her whole being?

And now she still can’t be honest to herself until the final when yet again Luke shows how good he is for her, what he makes one mistake and it takes a 1000 good deeds to make up for it? Lorelai makes a string of BAD choices and one kiss fixes things.[/rant]
