Ah, that would make sense. Because if Lorelai is obviously singing to Luke and intending for him to hear it (as has been stated all over the place), something must trigger her to suddenly be embarrassed by it. Luke reacting in a way she didn't expect, overhearing something from someone.. etc etc.

Didn't we have info that Luke puts the blue hat on again because he can't find the one he has been wearing this year but that even when he does find that one, he keeps the blue one on? I wonder how much we will see of that whole thing with Luke trying to find the hat, etc or of if we just hear about it somehow. Maybe Kirk mentions the hat.

That would make a good teaser. Luke in his apartment looking for the cap, not finding it, getting the blue out of his closet, putting it on and then he spots the black one somewhere but puts it away. After that we get the dc scene.

I'd love that to be the teaser - but have we ever gotten a teaser that didn't have one of the girls in it? I can't recall but I don't think we have -

I didn't find it satisfying or enjoyable. I would've preferred another raw confrontation with Lorelai instead.

I have always thought that Lorelei sings to Luke because she reads too much into that return of the hat. Maybe she realizes that he didn't mean anything by wearing the blue hat, she is embarassed, so she denies that the song meant anything. Or as you say, Luke doesn't react to the song, so she thinks that he doesn't feel the way she does. Can't wait to watch tonight!!

ETA: Ay ideas how Lorelai will respond to Logan tonight? Will she tell him that Rory is not ready, or just tell him he needs to discuss it with Rory?

I think Lorelai is going to stay clear of saying anything maybe more than she would kind of like it if Rory decided to wait awhile before getting married but that it is solely Rory's choice to make. I will be incredibly surprised if she tried to talk Logan out of a proposal or express strong disapproval - but, with this writing crew - who knows.

I know a lot of people had thought that Lorelai was going to criticize Logan directly to Rory in the Maze episode and she didn't - telling Sookie it wasn't her place to do so. So, unless she has suddenly morphed into someone else (again) - I don't think she's going to offer much input on this weird "permission" scene.

She must end up giving him her permission, since he ends up proposing to Rory infront of Lorelai and the rest of the family.

I'm looking forward to seeing what LG and MC do with that scene. I loved the scene of them in the kitchen. It'll sure take Lorelai by surprise, so that'll be interesting. I hope she doesn't go into any concerns she has. At the most, maybe she'll ask him if he's sure they're ready. But besides that, any concerns would just be repetitive and show no progress after Logan and Lorelai talked in HBM.
