I agree. I can't wait to see Lorelai excited asking Rory over and over what it means without waiting for an answer. It will be so wonderful to see her happy and excited again!

If Lorelai is excited about the hat returning and talking to people all excited like... is anyone going to ask her if she still has feelings for Luke? Or at least why she's so excited he's wearing a nearly decade old hat?

I love it when the child comes out in her - it's so cute. The smile, the sparkling eyes, bouncing up and down - she was just so happy last week in the porch scene.

I imagine she's going to say it to either Rory or Sookie and then try and claim that she gave it to him back when they were friends, so it must mean they're 'officially' friends again. I just can't us getting into the whole 'feelings' issue yet, especially if Lorelai is surprised in the finale to feel whatever it is.

I'm wondering how much of this "shopping and eating" we're going to see tonight, it's been in every ep description, but no promo or stills. Or are we just going to get them recapping their shopping spree in Luke's like in SiaM?

Hmm.. I am not sure I buy the Lorelai is surprised by her feelings. She has said not so long ago that there were still feelings and that they never really went away or did I imagine that. Plus, tonight she sings a love song to Luke so surely she can't be surprised by her own feelings. Even if alcohol is involved.

"Reach an understanding" is a lame phrase.

IA. I think she knew at the end of last week's episode that they were friends again. Luke ranted, but then took care of her like he always did. The blue cap has to get her thinking he feels more, which is probably what leads to the singing. I hope she tells somebody (Rory or Sookie) that she's afraid of what she's feeling and doesn't want to assume too much about the hat.

Oh, I just think the "new understanding" thing is a lame way of trying hard not to give away anything big for the finale.

I wonder what it is that Rory's moaning is about after Lorelai tells her about Luke's hat - maybe because she's kind of tired of her mother' wacky love life or ?

Didn't we have info that Luke puts the blue hat on again because he can't find the one he has been wearing this year but that even when he does find that one, he keeps the blue one on? I wonder how much we will see of that whole thing with Luke trying to find the hat, etc or of if we just hear about it somehow. Maybe Kirk mentions the hat.

If they ask, she'd give them the old friend excuse. But it does seem like it means more to her if she's that excited about it.

So I was watching the DC (again) and I was thinking that after Lorelai sings her song to Luke, that they chat briefly. Lorelai mentions the return of the blue hat, but Luke just shrugs it off and says he's wearing it because the black hat suddenly disappeared and he has to wear a hat in the diner for sanitary reasons. Lorelai is discouraged because she really feels that Luke was trying to tell her something with the return of the blue hat and out of self-protection of her pride, when Babette and Patty asks her about the karaoke song in the next epi, she basically shrugs it off and passes it off as insignificant.

I agree. I'm certain that finding out the truth about the hat has something to do with it.
