One-Time-Only in this timeslot - an Encore Presentation of the SEASON FINALE of "Gilmore Girls" (8:00-9:00 p.m.).

From the official CW listing
Wow that is interesting about the re-airing of the finale! I bet it is for ratings! I knowit sounds weird butI guess for those who don't want to watch the finale, without knowing the fate of GG this will be a good thing, because don't they have to tell by the 17th?

Thanks for the new thread Mots

Thanks for the thread, Mots.

2 possibilities that came to my mind about the the finale encore:

a. It's a preventive measure taken to ensure that those whose Tivo might've cut off the last ("Do you Luke Danes take ....? I do. ...") minute scene, a la the 5.22 proposal, get a chance to see it. As Cappu suggested, too.

b. When it originally airs it would still possibly be unknown that it was the series finale, a fact which would be announced at the upfronts two days later. Thus, showing an encore, is giving people a chance to rewatch what by then would be known as the series finale.

But, Ciao's conclusion about sweeps, makes the most sense.

BTW, I like seeing the "season" finale references in the official CW schedules, but I need a more official confirmation than that.

Okay, for everyone who is looking for a way to rinse the sour taste of French Twist out of their mouths and find a way to love Paris again:

Run, don't walk to see Avenue Montaigne. It's set in Paris, it's a cross between Amelie and Love, Actually, and it's freakin' adorable. Guranteed to restore the Paris love to the most EiF-battered heart.

Oh, and thanks for the new thread and the new info. The TV Guide peeps can bite me.

BTW, they mentioned on the podcast that ratings have been strangely down across the board in the past couple of weeks, for all shows. They couldn't explain it and even suggested that Nielsen might have to check their system.
I read that somewhere too and one of the reasons speculated was the early start to Daylight Savings Time this year in the U.S. On the East Coast, it's light out until about 8. p.m. now, so a lot of people may be out at their kid's sports events or running errands, etc

Thanks for the new thread!

Wow, that quick reply was goofy. Somehow I replied to the first post. Not sure how that happened.

There might be something else big going on the first time they show the season finale. Something that only the TV execs know about. A presidential address that no one knows about?

Some times, when they plan a double showing, they're anticipating that the first showing will be cut off/pre-empted/something like that.

P.S. Thanks for the thread.

The encore showing makes me nervous - as though it is the end of the show - and they want to make sure everyone who could see it sees it....

I gotta say I thought there were way too many scenes with the Rory/Paris/Doyle stuff and the letters. I would have so happily traded one of those scenes for a FND just to see E/R sooner than later. Thankfully, I DVR'd the thing and could zip through all that stuff about the letters, etc. One scene of that was enough for me.

Yeah. That was my paranoid thought too. Like, "We'll go ahead and schedule it, just in case it is the end and people want to see it, after we announce it."

haven't said anything here in awhile but I just wanted to throw this ideas about the encor showing out there: My first impression was that the season finale will go long like it did before and they are expecting people to undertape the last bit of it and show it again such as with the season 5 finale.

Couldn't they just be airing the finale to fill the Sunday night time slot until their summer series or whatever start?

There also seems to be a trend lately of encore presentatios for all the networks. ABC does it every week for Grey's Anatomy. Maybe there is a big AI event or something and they are airing it again for people who have tv scheduling conflicts.
