I do think because he paid and because Rory wants him there he should be at the graduation, but Luke is the one who earned his invite by "actions speaking louder than words"
Very true and Rory knows and believes it. That's the important thing.

if one of the two deserves to be there that's Luke. But enough with this talk. I can't wait for LL's interaction in the next episodes.

The phrasing on the "Luke sits with Rory's family" spoiler, doesn't it sound a bit like Luke arrives by himself but still get to sit with the Gilmores? I know I always get annoyed when we pick at the wording of things, but that one kinda stuck with me.

IA. If it was something like, "Luke arrives with Rory's family" then you know he went with them and obviously if he reached there with them he would sit with them.

I expect that by the time L/L/C shows up at Graduation the "notatrianglefromhell" (as notoutforawalk used to call it) is over and both men swallow their pride, "bury the hatchet" for a day and allow Rory to enjoy her day...at least I surely hope so.
How refreshing, a common sense view on the event. I don't get how it was ever an either-or-situation in the first place.

Can't we discuss something more substansive.....like the seating arrangements ? According to my goddaughter, she thought commencement was held indoors in very tight quarters. Any family members who couldn't sit iin the main hall watched the commencement from another room on live-feed tv's.

Was it really a surprise that Luke would be sitting with Lorelai and the others? Seriously? I know LL have their issues and all, but I would doubt that Lorelai would ever let Luke sit somewhere in the audience of a big graduation by himself. Luke and Christopher are just going to have to suck it up. Christopher knows that Lorelai was never over Luke, I'm sure he expected them to get back together, and he's well aware of how important Luke has been to both Lorelai and Rory. I doubt he'd be surprised to see Luke at the graduation. They are there to celebrate Rory, not gloat over who is with Lorelai or grumble about who isn't. The only thing that might come out of it is us seeing that LLC have all matured, gotten past their lousy history, and are all there for the same reason - they love Rory.

I would think that Rory's dream sequence would be for CA. Maybe CA is only available now and their filming her scene early. Or maybe MA is wrong. Imagine that. I always imagined CA to be in the graduation episode, ever since S1. And all DR knows how to do is repeat storylines, so repeating the MA type of dream would make sense. But what do I know.

I just hope we actually see Rory ask Luke - maybe when she is in SH she goes to the diner and asks him - but I imagine she will run it past her mom first to be sure Lorelai is fine with it.

People who hate Luke will hate everything he does or anything involving him - it's just baiting for people to come here to this thread to post something negative about the guy. Same old, same old.

This episode does sound like the catalyst for the family and potential family (Luke) to get past their issues with one another and just be there to celebrate this landmark in Rory's life - I think there may be a modicum of initial tenseness as everyone first lays eyes on one another and then that will disappear as their attention becomes focused on Rory and the happenings of the day.

I think it is highly appropriate that Rory will be the center of this gathering as she has, throughout the series, been the one that has always been seeking and hoping that everyone gets along with everyone.

good, wasn't just me then. It just made me reconsider what stage the LL relationship might actually be at this point. I had just assumed that LL would go together 'cause things were better, made me put my optimism back in some perspective.

I don't hate Luke. I just want something on this show, this year, to finally *finally* be just about Rory and not Rory's storyline being a catalyst for what the "more important" storyline is in *this set of writers* eyes.

See above. A catalyst for Luke to be a part of the group.

The only catalyst for which Rory's graduation should be is a catalyst to her new life as a professional journalist. The end.

Certainly this has been true for her mother and grandmother, but she hasn't had much of an opinion or even known about her father and Luke or even said very much about Lorelai and Luke. She's been much more focused -- when she's focused on it at all -- on her mother and father this season. Other than that, there's been Logan and heaven knows if we'll even see him at the graduation or whether he and Rory will matter.

I would, however, still like a small side storyline where Christopher and Luke come to an understanding that the battle for Lorelai is over and over for good. So that if there is an 8th season, we know not to worry about what Christopher might do if we were to see him, or if there were not an 8th season, so we would know in our minds that in LLs fictional future, Christopher would never be the one to cause them trouble again.

I'm not worried. I was worried (and rightly so) when we learned that DS was coming back for 13 eps this season. Extremely worried!
Christopher is never going to cause trouble again, I think. Both Luke and Lorelai are now sure that Christopher is not an option. Chris might not be sure, but that's his problem LOL.

I might feel a bit anxious if we were told that DS signs for a full or half S8 and SP doesn't.. yes, that'd freak me out, but otherwise I'm calm. Totally

That said. I would LOVE a convo between Luke and Chris about Lorelai that the battle is over. Absolutely.

From a tour report on TV.com:

Quote:
Jackson stays at Lorelai's house for at least one night. (I don't know the whole story behind this)

Jackson breaks Lorelai's dollhouse from her childhood

Lorelai will finally go to Luke's for coffee, with all eyes on her and comments from Kirk.

Luke will help Lorelai shop for a new car after the jeep breaks down. (They decide to become friends again in episode 18 )

Paris breaks up with Doyle and later misses him.

7.20 is titled Lorelai Lorelai

Episode 21 will be written by David Rosenthal and Jennie Snyder and directed by Lee Shallet Chemel. Lee will also direct
episode 22.
Lots more in the article.

I understand that this has been a bad year for Rory storyline wise, but, come on now, nothing good in Lorelai's life has ever come without something with Rory taking away from it either, Lorelai's own graduation became Rory skipping out to see Jess, the opening of the DFI also had Rory sleeping with Dean. I don't expect anything dramatic to happen, but expect nothing else to happen either just isn't how tv works.
