Well we all know how the last season of Roseanne ended so maybe DSR is using Amys play book still?

I'm not worried about Chris at the graduation - I think it could be a good opportunity for Luke to see how Lorelai and Chris interact - maybe it will make it crystal clear that there are no longer any romantic feelings for Chris on Lorelai's part.

I do hope that the elder Gilmores are civil to Luke and there's none of that "what's HE doing here?" crap from either Emily or Richard. Would even be refreshing if Richard were to thank Luke for whatever he did while he was in the hospital to help out Emily....though I doubt it.

I have a feeling L/L won't be back together romantically yet at this point - Luke will be there as a friend to Rory and on good terms with Lorelai - I do think they are setting us up for a last minute reunion in the last episode. Don't know why I think that - just a gut thing. Hope I'm wrong.

Maybe if Lorelai and Luke drive to the graduation together then the last stop is Luke being dropped off at home or he walks from the CS back to the diner. They share a moment again and Lorelai invites him in for "coffee" well I can dream.

I agree Luke will have a chance to see that Lorelai is over Chris and I do hope E&R are okay with him there.

Yeah, it would be a nice ending to the graduation episode for L/L to have a romantic moment - maybe at the diner or on a walk to the diner they could reminice a bit about young Rory and how she has succeeded in her dream or whatever - just another moment for them to talk about their history.

I expect that by the time L/L/C shows up at Graduation the "notatrianglefromhell" (as notoutforawalk used to call it) is over and both men swallow their pride, "bury the hatchet" for a day and allow Rory to enjoy her day...at least I surely hope so.
That is what I hope for too. I know they love putting the "fun" in dysfunctional on this show, but for once I'd like for it to be a little normal.

I do hope they make the graduation fully about Rory. And just the fact they Luke and Christopher both attend I'm sure will mean a lot to Rory and rightly so. Honestly they both deserve and have the right to be there. I know Chris is not a great dad but he is still her dad and she obviously want him there. Same with Luke, she wants him there but why it would have to turn into LLC crap I don't see. Yes it wont be comfortable but they are all there for one reason only. Rory. I really dont see them making it about LLC at all. Hopefully..

But.. there still have to be things happening and now we know about the dream and I hope there will be some good L/L stuff in this episode too.

I kinda hope we have another Yale moment like in GB! with Chris feeling out of place and maybe Luke having more to say to the other "dads"

but ITA it's Rory's day so the ep should be mostly about her.

The Godmother episode is on. Sleepy Luke and Sookie screaming "it's your butt"

I still don't understand why Luke wasn't there.

I can't imagine what is going to be involved in this graduation episode - I'm guessing there will be scenes with Rory, probably Paris, beforehand - maybe Rory will be awaiting news about a job she hopes to get, or a talk between them about how their friendship will continue, who knows.

If C. Amanpour is really going to appear, I would think she would be the commencement speaker and then Rory would also have some interaction with her - if they have Rory do another speech, it will be redundant to me - is she going to thank everyone again? I'd like it to be mostly behind the scenes stuff before and after the ceremony -

CA is in the finale as far as I remember. I don't want Rory to do a speech again either. I want her to shine in other ways. But.. its DR and he likes to use old SL's so I think we will see a Rory speech. Meh

He in fact is one of the few that was a witness to the part of her life that saw her grow from a precocious child to a determined young woman. He was there when she got her PSAT's scores, when she got her College acceptance letter's, when she was making her pro/con list. He help her move her stuff into residence the first year. Christopher was absent.

Of the 2 I do not think that Christopher is the only one that SHOULD be there. He still even after marrying Lorelia paid little heed to Rory. He didn't even think she should be at their wedding. He didn't think she should be notified when her room was going to be taken over.
The only reason I think he should be there is because he is actually footing the bill for her education. For that and that alone he deserves a ticket to the event. If Christopher wasn't there- Rory would not be surprised, he wasn't there for most of her life.

Well said. IA with you 1000% (is there such a thing), if you catch my drift.

Luke has always been there for Rory from the time he met her. Christopher has never been consistently there for her, including her birth. He only shows up when it's convenient for him and after all the hard work has been done for him (case in point, he only showed up after Rory was born to glance at her through the nursery window and then left her to be raised alone by her mother).

No matter how some may hate Luke and try to diminish his importance and role in Rory’s life, this is a fact that cannot be ignored. Even the Palladino's (DP to be exact) made a distinction in pointing out that Luke has always been there for Rory and has been like her surrogate father when her biological father was never around. Who better than the creators of this show to tell us and show us what they wanted us, as viewers, to see and believe. That is, Luke's importance in Rory's life and how lacking as a father Christopher has been in her life.

If Rory wants Luke to be at her graduation, then he should be there regardless of whoever likes it or not, including Christopher. The fact that she wants him there speaks volumes. Christopher has already acknowledged that he was a poor father figure. If he can be forgiven and be invited to his daughter’s graduation, why can’t Luke who has never done anything to hurt her and has always been one of her strongest advocates.

At Chilton she was the valedictorian and had to make a speech. I don’t see her being a valedictorian this time around as she dropped out of Yale for half a year and then had to fast track.

If she does make some kind of speech (a thank you) I can see it happening after the event. Maybe they all go out to dinner or have a celebration of sorts at the DFI.

I totally agree! Chris=sperm donor. He has never been there in a crisis for his daughter, has never shown anything other than to use Rory to get to Lorelai. I am not a big fan of his, probably because he reminds me of my ex-husband...LOL. I do think because he paid and because Rory wants him there he should be at the graduation, but Luke is the one who earned his invite by "actions speaking louder than words"

About a Rory speech, maybe she does it a family dinner or something. She surely can't be Valedictorian or anything like that. Sure she is smart, but it never seemed to me like she was the top of the class at Yale.
