I can relate to doing stupid things when you think someone you love more than anything, doesn't feel the same way back. Your mind just doesn't function right, no matter how together you are. I hated Lorelai with Chris, and hated what she did, but when she told him and was honest, she did start to redeem herself in my eyes too. I would have hated her, if she had lied to Luke and had gone and eloped.

Not sure what I feel about whether there is going to be a season 8. I want there to be so we all see a middle and end, but I don't think it is goping to happen. I am still crossing all my fingers and toes though.

I completely agree with you, peachypeep. She could have kept her mouth shut and married him. She told him knowing he would walk away.

I too have done DUMB things I am not proud of out of despair, not thinking clearly and being afraid of being alone. I cannot judge her. My heart aches for her.

Lorelai could have made the same decision George made on GA last night. But there are obviously going to be consequences for George. Once Lorelai woke up in Dopey's bed she knew there was no going back. But she didn't have to marry him. I'm still keeping up hope for season 8.

I think Lorelai did the right thing telling Luke. I think she "jumped" with Chris partly because she thought Luke didn't want to marry her and partly because she believed that her sleeping with Chris shut the door of that possibility forever. In her mind Chris was the only option left because she at least knew that he loved her and wanted her and the other option of being alone scared her. She was afraid she'd be alone forever.

Well spoken. I hate that she did it and all, but totally agree with what you say.

This is where the writers lost me; I think Luke's character deserves someone a bit less self-centered and not quite this pathetic. Lorelai's character was written as flawed in earlier seasons but she was made of stronger stuff. Now, I just don't care that much for all her angst. It's repetitive and redundant. (And I am a big fan of LL) She's being written as if she is still 17, not almost 40. It's painful to watch and I hope she'll come to some big realization, but at this point,I'm not certain, given the short time left in the season/series.

For me, where this logic breaks down about how she thought Luke didn't love her is that once he finally got his head out of ass and called her for help with April's birthday party and then was genuinely pleased she was there and even said she should stay for the sleepover because April will want it, that bizarre notion flew out the window.

Yes, there needed to be a fuller talk about what he had been doing but once he opened that door he seemed to be ready to embrace having April and Lorelai interact.

It wasn't until she went to Anna and Anna said that idiotic nonsense about engaged not being married that it seems Lorelai flew off the tracks and began her Houdini act before she suddenly exploded with the ridiculous ultimatum.

So - the whole thing seemed even more absurd to me than had it happened before the birthday party. Oy, I have thought about this too much.

Thanks for pointing out the Ausiello report.

There has to be a reason behind this, but I can't tell if it's bad for season 8 or good. If GG's done for sure, why would they care about if GG gets high sweeps ratings? And moving it closer to upfronts allows them more time to decide if it's series or season finale. It could just mean that they want to keep the VM lead in right up until it's finale the next week.

After all of the rejection Lorelai had gotten from him, maybe it just wasn't enough that Luke seem ready - he needed to be very assertive about wanting Lorelai in his and April's life. But ASP did a very lousy with the whole story. My point is that I have found a way to make this story work for me, because I forgive Lorelai for screwing up and I think Luke has, too. And I think Luke is very much ready for a table for 4 or 5 now. I hope they can convince each other how much they really do love one another.

Isn't that the irony of it all? They both love each other, but they think that the other doesn't love them. Hopefully in their communication skills they seem to have picked up in the last year will come into use for this purpose.

What worries me is the little amount of time we have left. I think L&L will reunite and then the screen will fade to black. I only wish we had time to see her get the whole package.
