Maybe when Luke is driving home after having car shopped with Lorelai, his hat "mysteriously" flies off and out the window on the drive home. And when he gets back to his apartment he goes to find "any old hat" and of course pulls out the blue one. He puts it on and smiles. We fade out.

I would bet there are different motivations on the part of people releasing info about the status of negotiations vs those who put out spoiler info. Maybe the leakers about the news about the show ending are being circulated to force the official announcement so that people working on the show - in front of and behind the camera - can get on with making arrangements about future employment.

But I don't think this is the type of thing that would ever really help LG/AB... especially AB if she is the one holding things up. It seems to me that she would just end up losing her fans if it came down to whether or not she signs and she ends up opting not to. She's going to disappoint a lot of people.

I doubt the majority of the general viewing public is going to have any idea why this show ended - and even they do, I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of people like me that wouldn't blame AB for not wanting to continue given that she honored her contract.

Hee. Now that is a spec I like. Maybe he takes Lorelai there to show her the fancy boat and the wind knocks it off his pretty head.

What do we know about episode 20 ?

* Lorelai sings Fernando
* Townies sing also
* Luke "misplaces" his hat, puts back on the blue, finds the black again but sticks to the blue
* April is in that episode because people saw her on the set while filming the episode
* there are night scenes with Luke, April and Babette

Did I miss something or get something wrong

I see it like that:
they need to pay a lot to the actors for the next season. after this season and people's reactions is quite a big risk. So i understand they want to check the waters, see how much people want to have next season, if it's a good deal to pay the actors as much as they want. And then if AB and LG sign for next season they will be seen a heroes who saved the show
