Well, whatever happens, I hope SP is able to get involved with a good show - didn't MA say the news about him and the zombie show was incorrect? So, we don't know if he has signed on for something else in case GG ends.

As to AB - if she had bailed before her contract was up, I could understand the urge to be upset with her, but as it is, I just don't understand why she shouldn't be able to make a decision about her life now without people blaming her - there was never a promise of an 8th season from anyone -

It seems unfair - to me - that because ASP and DR wrote such a crappy storyline, AB is getting the pressure to hang around to fix it the way some fans want it fixed. I don't see why she would lose all her fans, etc. over this - probably most people who watch casually don't have any idea what is going on behind the scenes ---

Personally, I know absolutely zero about any other show that I watch and enjoy. I don't participate in any other threads other than GG ones - I think it is the hardcore fans that will be upset which is too bad because I would have loved a wonderful last season, but to blame AB? I just don't get that.

I think season 8 became an option after Amy went to the suits and demanded one and especially after she announced her season 6 ending. I can't imagine them not going to the actors asking them what they think about it after Amy said she would only do a seventh season if she gets an 8th one as well. They or rather Alexis could have said something back then. I don't really think they didn't talk about it after Amy's conditions were announced. Everybody knew Amy wanted to have one more season. They didn't give it to her and either Alexis or Lauren already said no at that point or they were open for it.

Even if they were open to it a year ago they could certainly change their minds now - if WB had gotten a firmer commitment from the girls about the possibility of doing another season, who knows, maybe they would have given into ASP's demands. My guess (and, obviously, it is just a guess) is that the girls were not indicating giving more positive signals and so the WB declined to give ASP her two year contract.

Every single thing we have now heard about this situation is from second or third hand sources - we know nothing official and, personally, I find it unfair to lay all the blame at AB's feet when we literally know nothing about the specifics. What if both AB and LG said yes and then the studio wouldn't meet LG's salary demands? We just don't know - I guess I just find it disturbing to be flaying AB this way - but, that's just me.

One day I hope we get the real scoop on what happened, beginning with ASP's demand for 2 more seasons. Would be nice.

It sounds like nobody talks, everything is done though a 3rd party.

I think it's safe to say that we'll most likely never know what truly went on - not regarding these current negotiations nor about those concerning the Palladinos.

But I want to hear an official decision about season eight, already!

In this case, the longer we go without some news the gloomier it appears.

Because she knew she was writing the show into a corner and needed the time to get it back out. Just too damn bad not every one wanted to play with her after it got out what she wanted to do

How did she con the WB into letting her write 6.22 that way without a commitment?

Well her show, her way of saying goodbye. I don't think they had a saying in it really. She could do whatever she wanted to do. Same goes for what's going on the dvds or not. If madam doesn't want specials on the dvd there are no specials on the dvd Control freak No. 1 aka Amy.

I recall an interview with ASP from a few years ago in which she said that in the beginning of the series the suits interfered with the story and she put a stop to that altogether and wouldn't allow it - I don't know how she managed that but perhaps when she renewed her contract, she had that stipulation written in as a new provision in the contract.

From all accounts she was a notorious control freak - for her to go off the rails last year the way she did, she must have had free reign - it is really hard for me to believe that anyone looked at that direction of the storytelling and thought it was a good idea, especially since it was likely going to be the last year. I also doubt we will ever know the truth behind ASP's demands - I have my own cynical opinion, but we will never know.

Then:

1. 6.22 was written that way regardless.
2. She was confident she would get her way.

btw: I also heard around then that part of the reason WB balked at a 2 year deal was that Amy was also going use that time for developing her new show. Any truth to that.
