I never thought that they were actually spending the summer on the actual boat. More like you said staying near a lake and then sailing during the day. That boat will not go well on the ocean. Not for long anyway. Take it from someone who has spend many summers on a yacht (yes I hated it!)

And I wonder why Mrs Kim wont go to the baby shower? I love her, she always cracks me up.

This is going to seem a little perverse, but could the title Would You Be My Lorelai Gilmore be referring to Luke speaking to April? Maybe Luke always intended to bring Lorelai out on the boat when it was complete. Obviously not the case now, so maybe he asks April to go on the trip filling in for Lorelai.

Just because he seems to be selling the boat in this scene doesn't mean it really happens. I'm guessing something happens that makes him change his mind and decide to keep it and take April boating - they don't have to go on long boat rides - they can do lake boat rides in that thing or river trips and stop and camp out at night...I've done that with a small boat. It is possible.

Again, DR using something from two years ag- he and Kirk sqabbling over money as in the argument about whether Kirk would pay $1.10 for toast and whiddled the price down - looks like this time, Luke wasn't going to let him get away with it.

I get the feeling Luke probably had a bit of a hassle with his clan and that may be why he's in such a testy mood - nice to see testy mood Luke back, now if they could only put some funny words in his mouth - I'll be a happier girl...

Maybe he buys a bigger boat, as I spec’d previously, so that his eventual bigger family (which includes Lorelai) can accompany him on future trips.

Thanks for the new thread Mots.

I have a spec

What if after Luke has the conversation with Kirk that we see in the DC Lorelai walks out of Mrs Kim's house and they meet? She asks about the boat, he says he is going to sell it and Lorelai tries to change his mind?

I hope the boat story turns out to be an L&L twist. She did save the boat once before and maybe now again? Only she knows how much it truly means to him. She also knows how he gets instantly hot but then cools off. Yep, that could be a DIRTY!!

I think it's all part of Luke deciding to make changes in his life, including letting go of the past.

ok, take that and then throw in Cheryl's Lorelai stopping him scene, and Lukes big epiphany that he'll never be able to move on from Lorelai?

It starts off with Mrs. Kim and a customer, and Mrs. Kim being stubborn about something. Lorelai comes in, asks how business is, and Mrs. Kim says that "people die, go bankrupt, there's always furniture to sell." Lorelai came for picture of Lane, and Mrs. Kim gives her some, explaining that they're shape and wants them returned that way, and Lorelai says that she'll do her best. That answer doesn't seem to be good enough for Mrs. Kim, so Lorelai says that she'll return them in their present condition. Lorelai says that she'll see her at the shower, and Mrs. Kim says that she won't, and that Lane knows why. Lorelai starts into a round of 20 questions, asking if there's a problem between her and Lane ("yes"), if Mrs. Kim can put it aside for one day ("no"), if it's that big of a deal ("yes!"), if there's anything Lane can do to change Mrs. Kim's mind ("yes"), if Lane knows what it is ("yes"). Lorelai asks, "what do I have 14 questions left?" Mrs. Kim says "I have work to do." Lorelai pleads one last time for Mrs. Kim to come and Mrs. Kim says that life is full of disappointments, and runs off to yell at a shopper.

The Mrs. Kim line in the beginning to Lorelai reminds me of the one when Richard says something like, "People die, we pay, people lose a foot, we pay," etc, etc.

Thanks for the new thread and the heads up on the DC. I'm really looking forward to the Lorelai/Mrs. Kim scene(s). It should be great fun.

Thanks for the new thread, Mots!

Interesting DC... Mrs. Kim won't go to the shower because she and Lane have a fight about how the twins will be raised (probably religion). At least, I read that somewhere. And I really don't think Luke follows through with selling the boat. However, I was super excited to see him grumbly to Kirk There better be a rant in there somewhere!!!

The boat scene with Kirk and Luke reminded me of 4.02, where Luke and Lorelai go back and forth about the truck and the mattress. Only in the DC, Luke's a bit more annoyed since it's Kirk.
