That Luke and Sookie scene was the scene that made me go buy season 1. I thought, "Huh. If I actually knew why these Luke and Lorelai people won't set a date, I bet this would be even funnier." By the time I got back around to that scene, Sookie just pissed me off. I am glad for the new writers letting her come back around to prepregnancy Sookie. Odd, but still a friend. Last year, she seemed more obsessed with the wedding than anyone else. (Except those of us on this thread.) And she had been a shrill, shrieking harpy for quite a while before that.

Tara, you and I can be in the tiny club of people who liked this episode.

Oh and Luke has lost his grumpiness. Old Luke would have ranted at Liz and TJ or something. As much as I love the New Luke, I need a rant. Seriously
There was a baby in there though...
Still Mots, I totally agree with you. He SMILED at them. He didn't rant, he barely frowned....he's TOO soft.

Maybe once he gets back with Lorelai, he can find himself getting annoyed with her quickly and do some more grumpy rants...and hopefully, Lorelai at that time will be annoyingly hyper and invasive and teasing him in the diner, due to high amounts of caffiene that she's been missing.

Seriously...who are these people? The SPARK (Yeah, I'm repeating stuff). Tara Ashley, I get what you're saying. I have a feeling it's the writers fault, not Lorelai herself. They're not writing Lorelai with the same spunk and zazz that she had back from BEFORE ASP gave us season 6. Pre-Season 6 Lorelai was a lot spunkier. Luke was a lot spunkier. And while AB can deliver some lines perfectly (some of the jokes really do fall off her tongue well), and they certainly seem to know how to use Kirk, they're not exactly doing it for Lorelai and Luke...or maybe it's how LG is acting...but it's obviously according to the direction of the writing, so I blame them.

Everytime Liz mentioned the worm hole and finding the right worm hole, I kept thinking about the maze and the conversation in the maze.
Heh. There it is...there's the wormhole.

They're going to get lost in the maze, aren't they?

How big can this haystack maze be anyway? If they hold it in the town square, there's not much room!

Maybe the promo peeps are telling us to go watch the old seasons instead?

She needs to get back on the horse so to speak, or should that be rooster

ETA: The Luke scenes made me so sad. He does look lonely. Poor guy has so much to offer, and no one to share it with except for a daughter who lives halfway across the country.
ITA - that scene sounds so said lucky I have the whole ep to build up to it, get the tissues ready!

I have a feeling that Lorelai and Luke will return to their usual Grumpy/Spunky selves when Lorelai starts going back to the diner and relishing in her coffee addiction. That way they can get back on common ground with their usual banter, and that, as we've seen, leads to a relationship.

I enjoyed Luke being nice tonight. I think it's a reflection of how he feels about his family. He automatically seems more at ease with Liz and Doula around, although, anything with TJ should annoy him enough to give us a good Ol'Fashioned Luke rant.

Lorelai has been pretty pathetic all season. She's lost her spunk, which is really sucky, considering how happy and spunky she was with Luke. I think it was the fact that she was with Christopher though, and she was never as-herself with Christopher as she was with Luke.

So hopefully they'll figure things out... and hopefully they give us another season for LL goodness

I'm all for a season that revolves around LL, but at the same time, it just wouldn't be the same without Rory there.

What do they insist on putting Scott in those big cloths? What don't they have him with rolled up sleeves anymore.

I don't know how I feel about the eipsode? After much bitterness and waiting for the EiF to finish, it's like Luke has his family and Lorelai has her family and never the twain shall meet.

I definately don't want Lke to make the first move. I want them to meet by accident and if they start talking or something.

I really feel kind of blah about this episode. Luke seems too soft and broken, Lorelai seems too... oh I don't know. It's like it was just pure cotton candy and nothing much to chew on.

I don't know if I am just broken from all my hopes for this couple and the show. There wasn't even a spontanious burst of laughter that you can't keep in from it anymore. I am just sad.:

Sorry... Don't mind me.

Luke said his life isn't his life without her in it. It still holds true. He fought for April and won but it's a hollow victory without Lorelai by his side. Too bad he didn't comprehend that last spring. A partner is there 24/7 and with April gone most of the time now I guess he will realize that.

Cheer up guys! There wasn't much to be expected out of this episode, and I think we got everything we should have. LL anvils, a sweet Lorelai/Emily scene, NO CHRISTOPHER (why has no one rejoiced over this yet?), some pretty funny moments...it was a satisfying filler episode, IMO. Honestly, when I compare this episode to practically any episode in the last half of the season, it's GOLDEN.

ETA: I reserve the right to be pessimistic in the next few episodes...the closer we get to the end, the more scared I become. I.need.season.8.

I liked this episode. I liked the Luke stuff, loved the Emily/Lorelai stuff and can most likely skip the R/L stuff.
