Episode 7.15: I'm A Kayak, Hear Me Roar

CW: THE ROAD TO RECOVERY -- At a Friday night dinner, Lorelai works up the courage to tell her parents about the break-up of her marriage, but is derailed by their argument over the healthy meals and no-alcohol policy Emily has instituted to help Richard recover from his heart attack. Lorelai enlists Sookie to bring Richard healthy but delicious meals, then helps Emily organize Richard's business affairs. Over a shared bottle of scotch, Lorelai finally tells her mother about the breakup of her marriage. Rory attends an awkward birthday dinner for Logan with Mitchum Huntzberger, who asks her to help him steer Logan in the right direction. Later, Logan receives disturbing news about the online company he purchased. Also, Luke shares his home with Liz , T.J. and their baby daughter while their house is being fumigated.

TV Guide: Lorelai and Rory attend Friday-night dinner, where Lorelai is reluctant to tell her mom about her and Christopher's marital problems. But Emily has enough on her plate when the recuperating Richard complains about his dietary restrictions and Emily's strict no-alcohol rule. Meanwhile, Rory plans a birthday celebration for Logan, whose dad calls to invite him and Rory to dinner instead; and Liz and T.J. stay with Luke while their home is fumigated because of a moth infestation.

A BABY SHOWER, A JOB INTERVIEW AND A BOAT TRIP ?? While she is in the midst of planning Lane's (Keiko Agena) baby shower, Rory (Alexis Bledel) gets a long-awaited call from The New York Times offering her an informational interview. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) takes over the shower-planning duties, and finds herself brokering peace between Lane and Mrs. Kim (Emily Kuroda) over how Lane plans to raise her twins. Logan (Matt Czuchry) finally admits his business disaster to Rory, who offers him her full support, but when Logan announces that he is flying to Las Vegas to blow off steam with his old college pals Colin and Finn, Rory is disappointed and worried. When Luke (Scott Patterson) discovers that Liz (Kathleen Wilhoite) and T.J. (Michael DeLuise) are trying to sell his boat, he decides to make some changes in his life and take April (Vanessa Marano) on a long boat trip over the summer. Finally, Lane is put on bed-rest and must be wheeled through Stars Hollow in her bed to attend the shower at Miss Patty's (Liz Torres). Melissa McCarthy and Sean Gunn also star. LORELAI, RORY AND EMILY TAKE A ROAD TRIP - Lorelai plans a road trip to North Carolina to attend the wedding of Mia (guest star Kathy Baker), the woman who took in Lorelai and Rory (Alexis Bledel) and served as a surrogate mother/grandmother for many years. Rory has a fight with Logan over his immature reaction to his business disaster, and agrees to go on the trip with Lorelai. Emily invites herself along in an effort to get away from Richard, who is driving her crazy while he recuperates at home. At the wedding, Emily is upset by the close relationship Mia shares with Lorelai and Rory. Lorelai learns that Emily came to see Mia five years earlier to ask for pictures of Lorelai and Rory during the years they were estranged. Logan makes a surprise appearance and asks Rory to forgive him. Meanwhile, Lane and Zach ask Luke to be the godfather to their twins. Finally, Lane goes into labor and Luke helps get everyone to the hospital.

I agree that Luke should not be the one to "crawl back" to Lorelai and maybe the apologies in 18 show that Lorelai was more to blame, but once that is said they need to move on. IMO they both know they stuffed up.

I agree that outside Luke, Lorelai, Rory, Chris and Sookie not one else knows the whole story, not Liz, not Anna, not Emily not the town. Maybe it will come out but not from Luke or Lorelai. Maybe someone will slip up. what if Sookie or Rory or in town and like with Rory broken arm they are saying something about Luke and they defend him and it comes out? Maybe he did tell Liz and she slips up?

From the town POV it looks like Luke bailed again and couldn't commit so I can see Miss Patty and other blaming Luke.

While I think Lorelai believes she gave Luke every chance I wish Sookie would have come out and told her to grow up and talk to Luke! But she didn't and like most her I agree to screwed this up more than Luke by not taking advice from Emily or Rory to say something!

ETA 2 - and even more ranting...

IMO the town sees that the Chris experiment is over and sees these 2 single people again and just wants them to final get it together and make it work.

Sorry, but this makes me so mad. The blame should be shared equaly. It was not more Lorelai's faults than Luke. In what world does the fact that she did not speak out and tell him to treat her better does that make it more her fault. He did not treat her like a partner, but like something he was ashamed off. Yes, she shut up and let him do that, but that does make it her fault? Using that logic a woman bitten by her husband (yes not the same thing, but I'm using the same logic) that does not call the police like her friends tell her should blame herself if she dies. The same way if Luke treats her badly and she does not say anything it becomes her fault. She should not have to beg him to include her in his life. He should just have done it because she was his partner. It's not more his fault, but the blame should not be place more on Lorelai's shoulders. I don't get why it should. Because she moved on to fast with a man people hate? What has that to do with Luke? They were over and what they did after they were broken up is something that was not done to hurt or to make the other happy simply because then their live were separated. They did what they though was best for themselves and that's perfectly normal.

I'm willing to bet that Ms. Patty's comment isn't even about LL, but if it is, and the town is really that into getting them back together, and there's no season 8... maybe we will get the town to throw them a wedding?

Leila All I was saying (in this and other posts) is they we both scared the BOTH screwed up and both paid the price. That being said it was made more than clear to me that Luke had no idea he was hurting her and not for a minute I would think he would do that on purpose.

Lorelai really hurt Luke by going to Chris, maybe it was subconscious (the hurting Luke part) but I don't she really want the to hurt him either. She said she wanted it over, she had tried but when did she ever speak up like with Chris last week?

Maybe one thing she has now learnt is to speak up and be her old self and open up again.

I know Lorelai tells Rory in the teaser about the break up but did anyone wish they had the cat talk like in S4 with the Digger break up?

If this is the last season i want an LL wedding! But i will be happy with LL together and happy for 3-4 episodes.

When is scheduled to start filming 7.19?
