Yep, and thats what I don´t get....but we don´t know how much the townies know about the break-up, but IMO it must be Lorelai who should get her act together.....and her brain.....

It's from the Global promo and Miss Patty says it. It's not really clear if she means Luke but since they're talking about the hen and the rooster she might be talking about him.
He doesn't really have his act together when it comes to Lorelai because they haven't talked about anything so far. I mean it was pretty obvious in the supermarket scene that he would go back to the friendship they had. Maybe not as close as before but at least he wants her to come to the diner and he still wants to share what's happening his life with her.
Lorelai on the other hand

She was willing to cut him out of her life entirely for Chris

I have no idea what is going through her head. I mean they were best friends for years and Luke did so much for her and Rory. We saw how much she missed that in 7.11 but other than that we haven't seen anything so far from her side. Is she even willing to start that friendship again ? Or can she not do it because she loves him so much and is still so hurt that he pushed her out of his life ? I mean what is it that keeps her away from him ?

I also think Luke has his act together as regards to his kid and stuff but maybe they are waiting for him to go back to Lorelai, maybe they don't know what happened and think it was Luke's fault (yes I know part of it was) but maybe they don't know what Lorelai did and Luke is not the kind of guy to tell them or anyone. IMO he would not have even told them the day he found out. So IMO no one but Lorelai and Rory knows the truth.

But I can't imagine Babette and Patty not gossiping about it. I mean Lorelai started dating Chris pretty soon afterwards and married him right away. I would question the break up and come to the conclusion that Chris might have something to do with it. He was around. They all know about their history and that he was responsible for the first break up so why not blame him this time as well.

What I find amusing is the animals they choose:

Luke = Rooster = Chicken male used for reproduction

And I can't stop picturing Chris = The Beagle = Snoopy lying on his dog house while Charlie Brown's talking to him

I think that you and Craig both have the right point - the same one that Tanjia and I also highlighted.

Look at the LL from the townies POV:

They see LL fighting on the street. Maybe the hear everything so they hear Lorelai saying "marry me or it's over" and Luke saying "no".
That's ALL they know. They don't know about Chris because he didn't live in SH back then.
Only Lorelai, Sookie, Luke and Rory know about it and, SURE AS HELL, nobody talked about it to none of the townies. I don't think that even Emily knows all about the LL break up.

And the townies know is that they start seeing Chris and Lorelai dating and then they get married.

So LL breakup: they blame it on Luke
The LC spending the nite together and Luke gettin' informed about it: nobody knows in town
Maybe they don't even know about Luke going to Lorelai's place the morning after and wanting to elope. Hell, not even Liz knows about it.

I can see why they blame the break up only on Luke and thing he should get his acts together.

But even with that I doubt they would guess or think Lorelai would do what she did.

I don't think the townies know or think Lorelai slept with Chris right after her stupid ultimatum but they probably think something was up in that department. He was around for Lane's wedding, they saw how down Lorelai was, they new about the fight in the street so yeah they probably blame Luke for it but Patty and Babette told her Luke would come around and then boom she was dating the dope, a second blink and she was married to him. I mean they all saw how much Lorelai cared for Luke and then all of sudden she just turns around and oh look who's there - my high school sweatheart - as dumb as ever but hey he wants me so why not take him. He won't realize I'm not in love with him anyway

For months the townies saw Luke and April in the diner but no Lorelai. They saw Anna came and go and the two of them smiling and talking. Nothing romantic certainly but it sure wasn't Luke and Lorelai a united front dealing with his 'new family'. They saw Lorelai upset and it seems a lot less of L&L together period. I can see they could think Luke once again couldn't commit. I think they finally saw Lorelai ready and Luke backing off. Anyway, here's to lots of L&L scenes and a lot of fun chance meetings.

I agree with this. And we must remember that sleeping with Chris did not cause the breakup. It was the result of the breakup. When Lorelai gave Luke the ultimatum and Luke did not respond, the town saw the reason for the breakup.

Morning all! Went to bed last night (or should I say early this morning) and forgot to log out.

Maybe they mean that he should bite the bullet, stop pussyfooting around and get back together with Lorelai (already) before he loses her again.

They are both stubborn people and if they keep waiting for the other one to make the first move, they'll end up being alone and miserable without each other for life.

I believe they are talking about Luke because Ms. Patty is speaking in a hushed tone to Babette plus the spoilers say that she and Babette talk in code in the diner. Why would they act so surreptitiously if they weren’t talking about Luke and why would they be so cruel to come into the diner and talk about Christopher knowing how Luke feels about Lorelai?

Hey, even Anna thinks Luke dumped Lorelai. He does need to learn how to have a relationship and have a child. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. He can be a good dad and a good partner at the same time. Maybe now that he has the law on his side in terms of visitation rights, he will be less uptight about the whole thing.

I just want to see a happy Lorelai again. Talking fast, high on caffeine Lorelai.
