If Lorelai had taken him up on that offer, it would have made him just the guy who served her coffee. Not to mention that Chris was attached to her like a low jack. So, would she have brought him in the diner too?

And the failure to communicate was completely a symptom of their loss of friendship. Friends talk to each other. When I watched the trilogy the other day, I noticed that when he gets pissy about the mocking of the book, she gives him a few minutes to cool off, then goes after him. When was the last time either one of them called each other on holding back or walking off? When they were just friends.

Okay so I've been watching GG all day today and yesterday and I decided to take a break and what's on, a ballroom dancing competition which of course reminds me of B&B. Hee! Oh Emily.

Well I look at it like this, if they had gone for coffee at the end of ep 2 then they would have talked and maybe this whole season would have been different. Also if she had contact with Luke for those 5 missing eps then IMO it would be less likely even if she went to Paris that she would have eloped. My point is daily contact with Luke would have changed things maybe she would have dated Chris but I doubt it would have went further and maybe Chris would have seen she was not over him sooner and not been in a rush to marry her?

OT - It annoys me when I *cough* twice only to find it's not real and the ep of Prison Break has not aired yet and I just wasted 700mb!

Okay out for a while

Yep. Of course, then I thought they were still friends. Looking back, it seems like that first break up moved them from "friends and lovers" to "lovers". Sad. Watching DUaV made me sad the other day, because it reminded me of exactly how much I miss Lorelai and Rory in the diner. *sigh*

personally think it would be a little inappropriate for Mimi to come back. I think it would be weird if Lorelai came into the diner and told him they got a divorce...almost like she was asking for pity? It's better if he finds out from someone else, and then when she does come into the diner, he says "I'm sorry about..." and she says something light back. It doesn't need to be dramatic.
I agree with Tara.

Lancer, I don't think TPTB gave alot of thought to how many fans or fans of a certain couple they loose. They probably have in mind that if we loose some, new one will come. Didn't DR say that he don't pay much attention to these thing? If I remember correctly.

and then I feel like Lorelai's fight with Rory just hammered home the 'don't push or the people you love will run away!' idea in her head.

Me too. I am off to watch Hugh and Drew now, so hopefully I will be "unsad" later.

I know this is a little OT, but I was thinking about the title, "Farewell, My Pet." Obviously it fits for Michel, and because of the C/L breakup, it fits them as well. Referring to a person as "pet" is kind of a term of endearment, but also can be a bit condescending. It definitely denotes that one person is "more" than the other. Bigger, smarter, older, more important...something more. Then we are reminded of the fact that Rory is on Lorelai's side. Always. She's not Switzerland. A reminder that Lorelai and Chris are not equal parents, and I know quite a few people discussed this before. They are NOT equals. Thinking about it more, it's just so striking when you compare that to the many, MANY various times when Luke and Lorelai are portrayed as partners, yin and yang, equals. Interesting.

On a completely different note, I'm now betting the big bucks (you know, the 5 dollar bills, the 10's) on Lorelai finding out that Luke still loves her in 7.18. I know this is probably a kind of "duh" thing - but we were speccing different ways of her finding out, and since there is no specific spoiler, I guess anything can happen.

But depending on the intensity and length of this "talk" I assume that Lorelai will be apologizing for giving him the ultimatum (among other things). I also assume that she will give a little bit away about what led her there. I'd like to hear her ask Luke why he didn't want to marry her, since we know that's what she thinks. Of course, on Luke's end, I don't think it was ever that he didn't want to marry her, nor did he stop loving her - even now. Whether it's actually stated or clearly implied - I think Lorelai will get it then. Even if it's brought up before (Emily?) I don't think she will believe it until 7.18.

End of the "duh" rambling.

P.S. - That whole last part may have been brought on by the fact that I really want Lorelai to say, "Why didn't you want to marry me, Luke? Because I wanted to marry you. I wanted to marry you so much. I wanted you to be my husband. And I wanted to be your wife!"

...Or something like that. I think that would be a good way to confront the marriage issue while also addressing the fact that she wanted to be Luke's wife. Contrastly, deep down she didn't want to be Christopher's wife in this way. And she didn't "know how"...

Okay, done for real now.

Hugh and Drew ~~ terrfic. So much fun for a snowy afternoon.

I think I must be the only one that remembers this conversation. This explained it all for me and set up Lorelai avoiding Luke and finally losing it.

LORELAI: It was a great party and a major breakthrough. April's awesome. I think she liked me.
SOOKIE: I bet she loved you.
LORELAI: We bonded. And hopefully, things will change and I won't have to hide.
SOOKIE: Good.
LORELAI: Yeah Luke just needed that time and space. You know and in hindsight, I think it was good for him, and I'm really glad I let him have it.
SOOKIE: You were incredibly patient.
LORELAI: I was, incredibly patient, while at the same time incredibly impatient.

She forgave his deceit, let him deal in his own way and finally when all looked good again, she got the one-two punch from Anna and Luke once again.

Yeah well that really worked for them, they lost 1-2 million and only now that Dopey is gone (or was on the way out) did they come back, bucking the AI trend and getting back to where they were for most of the season. We can all hope that the ratings go up from now and and show TPTB what we have wanted all season!

I don't care how cheesy it is but I want Luke to say "I never stopped loving you"

I agree Lorelai avoided bring up April for that same reason she avoided so issues with Rory, she didn't want to lose Luke, 'cause she knew he would chose April over her, funny how that kinda happened in Partings. But giving Luke time to thing and he knew he didn't want to lose Lorelai either.

Stupid people!
