Thread Rules
  • This thread is to discuss spoilers of the show, which includes analysis and speculation of what might happen on the show, or what people would like to see happen regarding Luke and Lorelai. The thread should not be used as episode discussion thread. That should be done on the Gilmore Girls board.
  • Be respectful. Not everyone is going to agree with you at all times. It's perfectly fine to disagree with someone as long as it is done respectfully, but do not attack other posters.
  • Don't tease! If you have spoilers that you aren't able or willing to share just yet, it's inappropriate to come on the forum and tell everyone that.
  • Please note that asking and/or begging for more spoilers isn't necessary. Our sources give what they can, whenever it is possible, and when the time is right. Asking over and over again won't make them come any quicker, or any more detailed.

Feel free to discuss everything about Luke & Lorelai. Have fun posting!

Exactly, this maze symbolizes their twisted, misleading path so far, or at least Lorelai's complicated, winding, crazy, so called journey.

Only problem I have, 7.18, is cutting it too close to the end for LL. Too darn long.

Which is exactly why I can't seem to get excited about any of these new spoilers.

That it really turns out like in the promo. They cry over each other and Chris is all understanding and comforting and mature and nice and all
Why the frak is that a bad thing? She doesn't rip Chris apart like you want? too bad. They're ending, that's clear from the upcoming spoilers. And I'd rather have Lorelai end this marriage on some slightly good terms with Chris, then have anything like WBB when Chris will just come back again and screw up any LL progress later.

I think he's all understanding and mature because he finally is realizing and understanding what Lorelai's saying and accepting it. And he's not mad because he just knows it's the truth and what's been right in front of him for months if HE had just opened his eyes a bit more.

And it would be awful for Lorelai to scream and yell at Chris, then tell him it's over. She loves Chris, whether you like it or not, and she knows that just telling him it's over will crush him, so of course she'd want to take this as nicely as possible. Plus, she's on the edge of a breakdown herself, I don't think she'd really want to be screaming at him at the risk of losing it and totally breaking dowm.

We shouldn't want that either, knowing where she ended up last time that happened.

You know, Katie, I really do see where you are coming from, but maybe it is because people have trouble picturing him being all mature or whatever? I certainly do. Or maybe because this is much more civil than any other break up the girl has ever had? There are a lot of reasons that someone may not like it, especially if they still see Chris as an immature, self-centered, jackass of a douche bag. And I think there are a number of people on this thread who see him as at least one of the above.

And while she may in fact be crying over the loss of her dreams or whatever, the promo plays it more as the loss of Chris. Considering there are a number of people here who can't understand why she would be civil to the guy in the first place, watching her boohoo all over him, when the break up with Luke scored us one tear? Not generally going to thrill everyone. So, it doesn't matter that if it isn't just Chris, because that is what the promo makes it feel like.

I even get that she is supposed to have been in denial, or moving on, or whatever, but she is about the best I have ever seen at moving on. Aside from the not really going into town until she and Chris were married, there was nothing, not one little glimmer of remorse that her "life hadn't worked out". And even going back into town after getting hitched can easily be read as, "I proved I could get a man. Now I won't look like a loser to these people." Which...wrong, but whatever.

The fact that some fans would like to see a different type of ending for C/L doesn't mean that they should not be able to express it here without being criticized for their opinion. Saying "She doesn't rip Chris apart like you want? too bad" is kinda harsh - in my humble opinion....

I'm still wondering how Luke finds out about C/L end - I don't know why Babette/Patty would need to be talking about it in code - to me, this seems like something one or other would be flying to Luke's to tell him about.

Babette seemed to feel a need to tell Lorelai about Richard - I wonder why they would hesitate to drop their juicy bit of gossip to Luke. Maybe it is just to drag out how long it will be until Luke finds out - I hope that that moment will be done well and we will get treated to another good Luke expression.

Thanks for the thread withbatedbreath.

I totally agree with you Katie. I also don’t think that this is the time for her to get angry with him over his neglect of Rory. It’s all in the past now. She knows what he has done, has forgiven him and told him that she has forgiven him. He also knows what he has done, has expressed regret over it and the letter reinforced to him again his lack of responsibility for Rory. Rory is grown up now and can fight her own battles, if she wants to, with her father. It’s now up to Christopher and Rory to fix their relationship and not Lorelai’s responsibility to hold him accountable for his delinquency of the past or future.

Lorelai might bring up the fact that he was not there for her and Rory when they needed him but the real issue at hand right now is their relationship. It doesn’t work, they are both sadly aware that it is not working and know they must do something about it. They are united (by the holding of hands) in thought, sadness and regret that the dream they fantasized about for many years did not materialize the way they wanted it to and they finally have to accept it for what it is and lay the dream to rest forever. They both have to move on from each other and find the true dream.

Heh. I didn't even notice them holding hands. You can tell that this storyline has me captivated. Honestly, he comes on screen and I zone out. I had no idea I was doing that in the promos too. At this point, I don't care if they cry until they die of dehydration, as long as he is off my screen for the rest of the season. (Excepting of course the graduation. It will make a nice change that he actually shows up for something.)

I can take it no worries there

I just can't believe the guy gets out of this mess AGAIN without "punishment" He looses Lorelai - wow that really makes up for all the crap he pulled over all those years. I don't even talk about giving him a piece of her mind for being a dick as a father. What he did to her over all those years. He was never there, supported her, nothing. No she rewarded him each time he came back and now she is even crying over losing him She knows she doesn't love him enough or wants to be with him and still she bawls and lets him go just like that. That's really great. He knew he was No.2, left her alone AGAIN last week and she is not calling him on that Sorry that I want her to finally tell him what a big fat jerk he is.
