I agree with the idea that LL have to make some kind of progress in ep. 16 and 17. When taken a face value, ep. 16 being all about the babyshower, and ep. 17 being about a trip of the GGs, it doesn't come off like there's much room for LL. But there just has to be something in there. It's not like LL can rebuild their friendship and then end up together romantically from just eps. 18-22. There needs to be something in these two eps that brings LL closer somehow, so that when we reach the final few and approach some kind of reunion, we can already have LL's friendship going strong.

I disagree that Luke needs to make the first move. I think Luke will have to show Lorelai that he didn't stop loving her somehow, show her how important she is to him, but he can't just be another guy that takes Lorelai Gilmore back. She needs to realize that she needs Luke and decide that she wants to be with him again, tell him that, and then let them go from there. But I really think that Lorelai needs to make the first move this time.

First move romantically is what I said. Lorelai has to go to Luke first and say she screwed up and all that, and I think a scene similar could happen in 7.14 if she goes into the diner. It just has to be short, but sincere. Luke knows her well enough to know if she is being honest and true to her feelings. After that it's up to Luke. First move and first move romantically are two different things.

I'm posting too much.

Love your TL spec, Mots! I wouldn't be opposed to something like that happening. I'm really hoping for LL movement in the next 4 episodes. There just HAS to be movement, and I really want some kind of cliffhanger at the end of 7.17. I dread going into the haitus with a cliffhanger, but LL should really be well on their way back to each other by then IMO.

In the promo, it looks like the same day when Lorelai waves at Luke in the diner and has her breakdown on the couch in the CS with Christopher. She’s wearing the same clothes.

I am thinking that when we see her outside of Luke, Christopher has not returned from his two-day self-imposed exile. He returns later that day or night.

As Lorelai is walking down the sidewalk outside Luke’s, she looks longingly (IMO) through the diner window as if she wants to go in but is afraid to do so (for many reasons). When Luke looks up and their eyes meet, she waves tentatively and somewhat timidly to him. You can see and feel the tension and sadness in that scene. They want and love each other but are afraid to allow themselves to believe it and let their guard down in each other’s presence.

They are both probably remembering what they’ve been to each other and knowing that they still feel the way for each other. It’s only their belief that one does not love the other that keeps them from admitting their true feelings and making a move to change it. However, for a third person looking at them, you can see there is still some unfinished business between the two of them just by the way they look at each other.

I am thinking that her statement to Christopher about wanting to want him is a direct result of her brief and heartfelt interaction earlier with Luke. After seeing Luke, she can no longer deny that she still has deep feelings for him and wishes that she could feel the same way for Christopher. She was willing to keep trying to make her marriage work in the hope that her feelings for Luke would switch to Christopher but it didn’t happen no matter how hard she tried and how much she wanted it to.

Wow I missed a lot. And the episodes for 7.16 and 7.17 were confusing. Did Sassy ever update her lunch info with Scott? I only found the first part.

Maybe since she confesses to Chris that she wants to be with him but can't she'll have the ball to go to Luke and tell him how she feels?

Sounds good to me but I was hoping the Luke thing was after the Chris talk/cry, maybe she sees Luke before and after?

I agree Katie, Luke should not be making the first move. It just seems wrong to me. And yet, I don't want Lorelai to make a bold first move either. Then it would seem as if she's trying to avoid being alone, yet again. I wish there was a way for them to realize how the other is feeling, without actually having to tell each other. The town maybe? I don't know.

I know no one's going to agree, but I'd love it if they got into this huge blown-up argument about everything that happened and then eventually got to where they are screaming "I love you" at each other...

I think the problem is that it's TOO much to happen in TOO LITTLE time. I'm a little mad at DR right now.

In the promo, Luke waves at her first. I'd definitely call that inviting her into the diner for a cup of coffee or something... I really hope she goes in!! All this would have to be before Chris comes back though. I really doubt she'd be out and about afterwards. She's going to be an emotional mess and she doesn't look that way in the promo.

But I agree... I want Lorelai to make the first move. She needs to show Luke that she needs him and loves him first, but somehow she is going to have to see it's worth taking the risk, that Luke still loves her, too... Agh I feel like so much has to happen and there really isn't a feasible way to do it, much less enough time
