Aw one of my FAVORITE GG moments is when Rory is thinking over what her mom is saying and then finally snaps into best friend mode and says "where are we going...cold, hot, etc."...such a perfect scene.

I miss those two being closer than close. Bring that back DR

I, too, like the "want to want" line. I'm not sure if it's the one line that explains the entire season, but it definitely means something. I keep watching those 5 seconds over and over and over...I'm so curious to see what comes directly after that line. It looks like she's going to start sobbing. Ohhh how I love LG crying!

ETA: I really hope the discussion is more about CL then it is about Luke. But who knows...
It's just the promo. We are jumping to conclusions. She may not even be talking about Luke at all, that's just what they want us to think. She has to have more of an explanation than her feelings for Luke to end this marriage. I have no idea until I see it how they are spinning this discussion. I really hope that, even if Chris is determined to make things about him vs. Luke, Lorelai sets him right and explains the realizations she seemed to come to this past week: that he is not someone she could take care of and stand by and be with for 40+ years no matter how hard she makes herself try. Her heart is just not in it and by staying in the marriage, she realizes she would be hurting him more. The discussion probably won't be as amazing as we'd like it to be, but the end result is dopey is gone. We will just have to wait and see...

I agree. I understand why people would be upset with that line - just not wanting to hear it - but I think it's good. When I saw the promo the first time and heard her say it, my friend and I actually said, "ouch..." because it obviously means that she doesn't want him like that.

Anyway, I agree. She knows it would make everything easier. If she could make it work with Chris she might even think that she would eventually be able to come to terms about what happened with Luke. Even though it ended horribly, something good came from it - her happiness. Problem is, of course, that she doesn't want him. And she's not happy. And she's finally realizing that this isn't the way it should be and owning up to everything. Now, it's not going to be easy anymore. No more sweeping feelings under the rug without resolving, pretending everything is okay. Time to actually deal with issues. First thing's first: end it with Chris, the man that - no matter how hard she tries - she can never really bring herself to want.

Yep, I like it, too.

Mots - I agree.

I took the promo to mean that she owns up to still having feelings for Luke (hence the descriptions saying that they talk about her feelings for Luke) but that there is more there (the actual problems with C/L).

I think she's saying that if this was just a case of her loving both of them then she can work through her feelings for Luke in time (maybe). But that's not the case. C/L have problems of their own - reasons why they would never work, even if Luke was never in the picture.

So after watching the dc twice (which btw is cute and funny) and rewatching the recorded promo on my tivo about 20 times...in very slowmo and zooming in and out repeatedly...here is my vote on the ring: She is definitely wearing it at the Inn and definitely not wearing it outside of Luke's! That doesn't clarify the order of everything...but I am very confident that the ring is gone!
My first time on FF today. Thanks to everyone who provided us spoiler information.

Looking at the DC, Lorelai is definitely wearing her ring. You can see it clearly when the counter on the bottom of the video is at: 11:15:29:25 v101:11:09:21 . 1

Yeah I had this thought as well. But doesn’t the ep description say they talk about her ‘feelings’ for Luke? Unless they’ve given this ep a royal tweaking, I’d say the word ‘feelings’ is connected to Luke in some way.

Maybe the feelings she’s talking about aren’t anything for us to get excited about though. I can see Lorelai telling Chris that she’s used to relying on Luke and there are feelings of familiarity and trust between them which could go away with time, as she built a life with her husband, if it weren't for the fact that she's not in love with Chris. Maybe she won’t admit that her feelings for Luke are any deeper than that yet.

I really like the DC. Classic Michel, Sookie's a hoot and Lorelai is more like herself than she's been all season.

From my POV, the problem is that Lorelai broke up with Luke, but I didn't. Lorelai is not invested in L/L any longer, but I, the viewer am. TPTB made a huge mistake in this sl (which we all know). The Christopher question should have been answered in S3, or not all. Once the viewers invested in L/L, it's too late.

As for Chris getting a pass, yes I would love it if someone would address his actions, but I'm not going to hold my breath. However, I would hardly expect Lorelai to rip him a new one while she's dumping him. She probably feels guilty because she should never have married him in the first place.

Also, Chris is the same as he's always been. He didn't get more selfish, he always was selfish. I didn't expect any different from him. Lorelai, however, changed for the worse. She was always somewhat self-centered, but this year she became more selfish. I think she is at the point in her journey where she sees this, and is full of self-recriminations. I'm guessing this is why she isn't tearing into Chris, because she's focusing on her own mistakes. Why ream Chris now? He didn't change, and I think Rory has always known that.

I think this is why I don't feel for Lorelai, in spite of LG's acting. She brought all of this pain on herself by marrying Dopey in the first place. This is what I expect to get out of her breakup with Dopey, her admission of her mistakes.

Now, when I see her pining for Luke, like at the end of 7.2, then I will feel for her.

Yeah, it's obvious she's wearing it in the DC, but it's hard to tell if she is when she waves at Luke in the promo. I've watched it several times and I really don't see it at that point. It doesn't really matter though, because it will come off eventually

ITA! I like your POV. Great post, great points She realizes she made mistakes and is finally going to face them instead of pushing the away thinking they'll disappear eventually.

Sounds interesting. What's the boat trip though? Why didn't they go into detail about it? Hmm...

Maybe Lorelai is trying to say she wants to want Chris...she wants to be the devoted wife he should have...the way Emily is devoted to Richard....but because of her own faults, she can't. She can't let him in. She couldn't love him enough to be that kind of wife and time won't change that. That would make the breakup not about Luke, but about her inability to let people in. She has always had trouble sharing. It is one thing to be married and another to share a life. She cannot share her life with Christopher and time won't change that.

That's strange. I thought 7.17 is Will you be my Lorelai Gilmore

Yeah, where's the mention of the boat trip? Weird.

That's confusing me too. It either has to do with Luke (wasn't his boat at TJ's in ep. 16 filming?) Or maybe it's a reference to E/L/R's trip in the next episode?

Where's SP's name in that description? We know he's in it because of Zach asking him to be the godfather. Maybe something's missing from there.

Thinking about the title.. maybe it's two-fold, as most are.

Will You Be My Lorelai Gilmore - 1st for Rory and the New York Times interview. They could offer her a job or internship.

Will You Be My Lorelai Gilmore - 2nd for Lorelai and Luke takes her out on his now completed boat and asks for them to have a 2nd (or 3rd depending on how you look at it) chance? That could be the end of the episode.. like a mini cliff hanger for us die hard fans.

Lorelai and Rory both are overwhelmed with their prospective futures that they decide to go on a road trip (in the next episode). Emily is so overwhelmed and exhausted by Richard, she goes along too. They flash back to times that were simplier. And Mia is part of the good ole days..

He's in the episode most likely the part to do with the boat. Zach asks him in 7.17 not 7.16 about being the godfather (well it makes more sense in that episode since Lane actually gives birth to the twins in that episode).
