I have not one bit of feeling for Chris or what happens to him. He is not a character that was lovingly, carefully developed over the course of the series and I never grew to care one whit about the guy - except to resent the character taking up so much valuable time this year - when it is likely the last year.

It does look like LG does a good crying scene, but since I don't care about Chris and have had serious problems with Lorelai since last year, I think this scene will just fall flat for me-because, really, Chris is the man she wants to want? Why on earth is that? I get that it is likely because she married him and wants to want her own husband - but, that line just bugs me.

I think the writers have not done a good job depicting Lorelai's emotions/feelings this year. I really have no clue based on what we have seen what she feels for Luke; I never felt anything real in this nonsense with Chris; they have her whimpering at him again in the end of this week's episode about how she didn't call Luke - when most people I know would have been focused on the "where the hell have you been" aspect of his behavior.

So he ends up being an immature dolt - yet again and next week we see her crying over him not being the man she wants - none of this has made any sense to me - I just haven't figured out what the writers want me, as a viewer, to see in Lorelai at this point.

You know, the place where he and Rory developed this wonderful relationship last year? I am so sick of this storyline that here we are at the end of it, and I just don't care. I feel like the annoying kid on this "journey", asking if we are there yet. Because I don't actually think her "journey" started until about 15 minutes before the end of the last episode. Which means I could have skipped 12.45 episodes. At least then I wouldn't have had to see his smirking face, or had to listen to his bad jokes. GAH. HATE.
ITA

Let him go and don't come back. Just get him off screen. It's consequence time for dopey!

No the teaser (first part before the credits) is when Lorelai tells Rory, later on or off screen we don't know, Chris might say something to her.

Okay I'm out for a while

So in other words, we might not get much of a reaction from Rory? Oh well, something we can do without I guess, as long as she tells her.

TFoLA is on ABC Family right now... Sookie was hilarious in the episode!! Just for fun:

Quote:
LUKE: ...You having twins?

SOOKIE: No.

LUKE: You sure?

SOOKIE: Uh, let me think about it for another millisecond - no!

LUKE: It looks like you're having twins.

SOOKIE: You're gonna make me fall in love with you, Luke.
Geez, what is it with Luke and twins? If we get an 8th season, Lorelai had better be having twins

We don't know that they don't talk about that. I'm thinking that they do, at some point. She has to have another, more probable reason besides her feelings for Luke as to why it's not going to work out. I'm not expecting something amazing, but there is more to the discussion than we really know at this point, so we don't know that it's not discussed in that context as well.

I actually love that line. It's the perfect explanation for so much. She wants to want Chris. She wants to love her husband and father of her child. She doesn't want to be alone, and she doesn't want to be in pain. She wants to love Chris. That's what she's been doing this whole time, getting herself deeper and deeper into this CL thing, because of how much she wants to want this, hence all the ILYs and rushing into the marriage. It makes so much sense to consider that's she's done all of this because she's trying to make herself want this. But obviously it didn't work that well.

Extactly.

Thank goodness someone can put into words that I can't.

I feel nothing for this couple. I can't wait to get his swarmy face off my screen. I can go back to watching the show again and see Lorelai bantering with Luke and to see lovely Diner scenes. Seeing Michel/Sookie and Lorelai and all the other Stars Hallowites without having the great stinking going on.

You know even if L/L doesn't get back together right away. I just want to see both of them happy again.

Eta:

And she wants Luke but... what? He not worth it? Further explaination please Katie. Your explaination is good and I am interested to hear your opinion.

So rewatching the promo and Lorelai's line to Christopher kind of confuses me. Maybe I'm just having an off day.

She says "There are feelings there, but if that's all there was, we could fix it with time."

So she is saying that there are feelings there for Luke, but that isn't their only marriage issue. Feelings for Luke would probably fade, but their other issues wouldn't.

At least, that's what I'm taking from it. Hm. So if that is the case, we might actually get Lorelai telling Christopher what we want her to.. about not being there, about never being there for Rory, etc. etc.

ETA: Lorelai wants to want Chris, but the fact is she doesn't want him. She wants to want him because she is married to him and she doesn't believe Luke wants/loves her. So basically, she is wanting a guy she doesn't think she can ever have. She can have Chris if she wants, but she doesn't. Plain and simple. If she could will herself to want him, it'd make her life a lot easier and less lonely. But she can't will herself to want him. She wants Luke. That's using the word "want" a lot, lol.

One last thing before I go.

IMO the Crying scene is a big "Emmy" moment for Lauren, but isn't the show in the comedy category now?

maybe it's not feelings 'for Luke' maybe it's those feelings of 'you're an idiot! i don't like you!' that she's talking about!

I really really think we are all wrong about this discussion. I think the "feelings part" is so far from the "if that's all there was" part in the discussion -- that they just chopped it up and put it together like this. I have a feeling that part isn't about Luke at all.

I, too, like the "want to want" line. I'm not sure if it's the one line that explains the entire season, but it definitely means something. I keep watching those 5 seconds over and over and over...I'm so curious to see what comes directly after that line. It looks like she's going to start sobbing. Ohhh how I love LG crying!

ETA: I really hope the discussion is more about CL then it is about Luke. But who knows...

Oh, and is Christopher crying in the promo? Kinda looks like he has a tear in his eye.

I think it's a matter of the saying, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with." Unfortunately, that doesn't really work.

I was just watching RTTH where Rory is grilling her mother about leaving Max and she is saying, "maybe you really do love him" and Lorelai is saying, "I'm sure, I wish I did love him, you have no idea how much." another play on "I want to want you."

With Luke, she ran because she loved him and she didn't feel he loved her. So when he 'confirmed' it in the market maybe she decided to let someone else run her life and since her family wanted her to be with Christopher, she would be.

But now she sees that it isn't going to ever be a good marriage, no matter how hard she tries to make it work.

That's what i'm thinking Mots but i'm not so certain that Lorelai will call him on his stupidity.
