I want to. I really do. I was in a place where I was there...but this episode did so much to take away from that...

Reading the debate about this made me think of Moonstruck where Olimpia Dukakas asks Cher "do you love him?" about her first engagement, and Cher answers, "no, but I like him." and Olimpia answers, "Good, cause if you love 'em they will break your heart, because they know they can."

This sorta reminds me of Lorelai and why she married Chris. I think she honestly thought that she could grow into the love for Chris, and still have pangs of love for Luke, but he doesn't love her the same way she loves him so there would never be reciprocity.

However she is coming to realize that she is envious of her mother in that she wants a marriage like hers.

In the scotch scene we hear that Lorelai is the kayak and I think she will belive that she is going to end up alone, because she will want the type of marriage that she could have had only with Luke and he only thinks of her as a friend.

I say leave the second half of S6 and first half of S7 out. Unless you put together a montage of all things Luke - because he's been the only positive growth this year - and Scott's been the most consistent in his performance.

I've just kind of accepted that Lorelai will never be quite as loveable as she once was. If DR can get her back to being half of the person she was, I'll grudgingly accept it. JMO

Genki, I so enjoy your posts. I know Lorelai is sorry about going into a marriage to a guy she doesn't love like a wife should love their husband... but, why the hell is she acting so meek and mild like she done the worst thing to the grear and wonderful Christopher who is the best father and husband in the world?

When the heck is this woman going act like a grown woman? I don't care, I loved, love Lorelai of S1-5. even half of S6. Maybe the Writers are trying to show that without Luke... Lorelai isn't herself, she loss without him. I see when she's in his company alone or with Rory she just lights up.

I agree - considering I watched F&S this afternoon - this Lorelai was a whiny spoiled unhappy woman who just was passive -

I remember clearly in F&S - watching Lorelai battle her fear of facing her father being so sick and Luke saying he would be there when she came out of the room -

me to - so much more than tonight

I looked so forward to this episode,

again me to go figure - i have to stop doing that

but we have Lorelai again acting like a milktoast when Chris showed up

and you know what happens when milktoast gets wet - it sinks she is sinking and he is abusing her

- and him with his holier than thou attitude and them saying Oh you would you like to see Richard?

I know

These writers don't have a clue about how to write these characters - not a clue.

I don't think Lorelai's reaction to Luke arriving was cold. It was surprised and also she didn't want him to know that Chris wasn't there for her. The way she said "Chris isn't here yet, but will be any minute" was said too quickly. Plus, she knows how Chris feels about Luke right now and how messed up their marriage is because of the one favor she did for him. We all love Luke and we all want Luke and Lorelai together, but right now Lorelai is wanting to save her marriage. As of the beginning of tonight's episode anyway. She wasn't thinking of getting back together with Luke like we are. She was thinking her husband should be showing up and seeing Luke there would only make things worse. Which it obviously does. She's in a sticky spot. She wants to be friends with Luke, but she also doesn't want to ruin her marriage. Unfortunately she put herself in this spot. And it seems like next week she is slowly and surely getting out of it. As painful as it seems to be. And as weak as Lorelai has been this season, I think it's a huge thing for her to take the step and say she wants out of the marriage. I didn't know she had the strength to do that anymore. She could have stayed settled in this marriage forever. I'm glad she's stepping up and telling the truth.
