I still don't get why people are so angry at Lorelai. She wants to want Chris, and she doesn't. I thought people would be happy about that. I certainly prefer that than her dumping Chris because she thinks he's a horrible person.

i think everyones still running off the steam from him being such an ass tonight and the possibility that he may never get called out on it, or anything for that matter...

no its not about the promo.

Its about her sheer stupidity. her coldness to her own mother. This is far beyond how lorelai is about her romantic relationships

DR has gutted lorelai. He has taken everything that was once good about her and stipped her of it. She's come off as dumber than the aerie girls, cold hearted, and basically self-centered.

In the end, it will be mimi redux. She loses chris . cries cries cries...then we see her get everything she wants which basically means the people she craps all over will settle for whatever crumbs she chucks her way.

Yeah, I am angry but I am also a sucker. In the end, I'll fanwank a way to accept this. I will squee when LL eventually reconcile while my logical brain will be liek...too bad Luke isn't the main character cause then they might hook him up with someone with a brain.

I agree... that is what makes it not about Luke, IMO. She needs to tell him that so he'll know once and for all that it's over, that it can't work. She needs to tell him that in that way, I guess, to soften the blow. I'm just scared about whatever she says about Luke... however, whatever she says, it will give the impression that she still thinks Luke doesn't love her, and that issue will be resolved later. I just have to keep telling myself that she hasn't had a chance to really see that Luke still loves her because her marriage to Chris has been blinding her all this time. The time will come, however, and it will be beautiful. It has to be.

I'm very intrigued by ep. 17 title, btw. Hopefully we'll know more after tomorrow/rest of the week? I like the spec that it leaves us hanging with LL before the haitus... as much as it would kill me

I guess I'm one of the few who doesn't need to see Chris raked over the coals. As long as he goes away, I don't really care what the reason is.

And I do see what you're saying, Genki. Thanks for explaining. I just can't dislike Lorelai. Part of me feels like I should, but I just can't for some reason.

That works for you, but those of us who do think Chris is a horrible person, are very disappointed that Lorelai still fails to recognize (or admit?) that.

This makes it harder to root for Lorelai, or for a relationship that once meant something, that people once believed in and still want to be able to believe in again.

Eh - guess we just have to suck it up and accept that Lorelai still hasn't got her brain back. And search for more patience, lol.

Even though I haven't seen it, to have a complete opinion... the fact that people are saying it was an emotionless/boring episode is incredible. This had the potential to be a groundbreaking ep for GG if they played their cards right (this is a drama now, right?) From what I've read, the only constant theme for the night is that all these characters don't appear to be growing/learning anything. I know I have to see it for myself, but I usually agree with what most people say here.

And how many episodes in a row is that, where we're left thinking "maybe next week then?"
I'm getting tired of waiting for 'next week.' :\

Hee. Those are my reasons. I may not like how Lorelai is acting, but Luke has been a prince. I want to see him in a relationship and I'm tired of seeing the quippy twins.

I had the impression that Lorelai's realization would be gradual, which was what was shown in this ep. You could tell the lightbulb was going off, ok maybe flickering, when Emily was talking about being married for 40 years.

I really saw the realization hit in the middle of Lorelai's last cell phone message to Chris. The part about being married and what married people do for each other. As I was watching Lorelai during that message, I was thinking, dang she still doesn't get it about Chris. Then suddenly I heard the change in her voice and saw the change in her expression, I thought, finally! She's finally getting it! Took her long enough.

I really didn't expect her to act any differently around Luke. They had a nice conversation, and shared a few caring looks. That's all I expected, or even wanted since Lorelai is still married to Chris. Besides the fact that Chris would have blown a gasket if she had even smiled at Luke. Which she knew. I really hate how Lorelai acts like she's stepping on eggshells around Chris. It's a horrible way to live.

In that last scene, I did have a fantasy of Luke and Lorelai suddenly smacking Chris around, but alas, it didn't happen!

As for the promo, I understand why Lorelai wants to want Chris. However, I don't like the way LG said it. Maybe it will play out differently in the ep, but the tone in Lorelai's voice sounded like she was loving Luke against her will. Color me confused also.

It's probably because she feels the love is unrequited. Who wants to love someone that doesn't love you back?

I just noticed, not only does Lorelai look over at the Luke's bags when Emily says "blood is thicker than water," so does Emily.

Chris doesn't even say he's sorry to Lorelai. Ugh.. that scene really makes me mad. He is so rude to Lorelai. She's been calling him frantically all day and that is how he treats her when he gets there? Come on. Ugh.

ETA: Hmm. Just rewatching the promo too. Is there possibly a cut between Lorelai saying "You're the man.." and "I want to want" ?

This sums it up very nicely for me. Luke and Rory deserve far better than to have this Lorelai in their lives. She has turned into Chris -- an emotional vampire.
