I think it's more or less that she "wants to want" him because it would make her life so much easier. There would be less to explain, less to feel guilty about. It would be one less romantic mistake, one less failed relationship, and one less mark against her in the screw up department.

Agreed, that's how I took it. It would just be so much easier for her if she did love Chris, but she doesn't. She's tried pretty hard to love him/pretend that she loves him, because he's sort of the "safe" option right now.

I can't believe that Chris was such an ass when he got there. He heard the messages and knew everyone in Stars Hollow was there for her before he was. He was the one being the jerk. He is the one who should have sucked it up and at least hugged his wife, tried to calm her, make sure she was okay, when he got there. But no, he is snippy and arrogant and walks away. Oy vey.

And I understand that Lorelai thinks that Luke doesn't love her, so being with Christopher would be easier if she didn't have feelings for Luke. However, she knows that Luke must still feel something. He said when he got there that he just got in the truck and drove, not knowing what he was doing. That shows her what his priorities are. And obviously it's to be there for her.

Soooo.. I don't know. She shouldn't want to want Chris at all. She should just want to want Luke and figure her life out.

The only thing that went through my head when Chris showed up and Luke excused himself without acting like a brat as Chris did is that "Luke Danes is a stand up guy." I wanted to slap Chris when he was cold to not only Luke, but his own wife again...

i know why she wants to want chris because he is the perfect guy in everyone's opinion aka her other life - it makes sense to me omg bad me but it does - its like the best thing she has ever said

maybe its totally separate from luke- maybe thats what the want is about

maybe on one level the former her wanted to marry chris and they did and she discovered even though maybe she did fall in love with him again - it won't work

i am overanalyzing everything

it also shows where Christopher's priorities aren't, and while I agree with you initially, after tonight she should finally realize that she's better off alone than with that. That's why I can't believe that she still claiming she wants to love him after this ep, I'd want to throw his stuff out the window.

and PS did Emily say they've only been married 40 days? was she exaggerating or are we screwing with time again?

I really loved how Luke looked him in the eyes, ignored him, and politely addressed Lorelai and left. Who's the bigger man, hmm?

I think that wave is enough to sustain me for a very long time. Coffee, then food, then a wave, the actual entering the diner time will have to be following soon enough.
