it's kinda like eating vegetables, you know its good for you, and better in the long run, but it doesn't mean you hafta enjoy eating them. so basically.... Mots is right. I'm just unhappy at the moment.

i thought it was weird that in the promo it looks like Lorelai is sitting all alone when Luke gets there, what if that's when Rory and Logan have left to go run errands and they either call him, or make a stop in SH and that's how he finds out?

oh, and in the midst of all of this, how unfair is it that LG can look that pretty for an entire episode?

I wonder how Rory must feel about Chris not being there. Fine, he is mad at Lorelai and he doesn't want to be her second etc. etc., but what about Rory? Rory's grandfather is in the hospital. Rory is scared. Rory needs support too. Is he ignoring her calls too? I just can't believe he isn't there at least for his daughter. People fight all the time, but in the case of an emergency you suck it up and you are there for your family. You do not abandon them. I think it would hurt Rory to know that Luke can show up simply because he cares and wants to help in any way that he can and her father won't even return phone calls. And I don't mean to imply that she wouldn't want Luke there, but her father should be there for her too. And he never is. Over and over again. Even now that they are all a family, he's still not there for her. Oy.

i think Christopher has been such an insignificant part of Rory's life at this point, that while we think her instict should be to look for her father, it's more of an afterthought in her mind, kinda like her in his....

but can you imagine the scarring that this is gonna cause Rory? to see her grandfather collapse not once, but twice now?

He didn't even care that the letter indicated how absent he was from Rory's life while Luke was like a father figure to her. He cared only for Lorelai's feelings for Luke. And yet Lorelai is with him for more than half the season. *sigh*

Well, I seem to be in the minority because I thought last night's episode effectively moved this story forward.

1. Lorelai reiterates her commitment to Christopher and he walks out. Which is what he has done his entire life - walk away from his responsibilities.

2. I'm not dismayed nor upset that Lorelai wants to make her marriage work. After all, it will make everyone happy (Emily, Richard, Rory) and Lorelai likes to make people happy. Whatever deep-seated feelings for Luke still linger in her heart, she knows she totally burned that bridge with him by sleeping with Chris, so it's a non-issue for her.

3. The very idea that anyone (talking about the MT here) would give Chris a pass for disappearing for a few days because of a fight with Lorelai is out of his/her mind! You don't do that people you love! Heck, you don't even do that to room-mates. He is sulking, and it's not attractive, and no, I don't feel sorry for him.

4. Lorelai's eyes are being opened that the new and improved Christopher is not all that improved. He is still all about ME ME ME!

I know nothing and have no spoiler sources, but I'm with Cappucino and I'm staying optimistic!

What if Rory calls Luke. Yeah I know it's way out there but in the promo she asks Lorelai where Chris is and she sounds really sad and in need for him to be there. What if she sees that Lorelai really needs someone there. I mean she has Logan and Emily and Lorelai don't show their true feelings around each other. Each has to keep the pretense up that they are strong. Chris is not there and Rory calls Luke because he was there when Richard was in the hospital in season 1 and she knows Lorelai can let herself go if Luke is there to catch her. She really needs a friend and so maybe Rory calls Luke.
I would like that!
But I don't think that DR let it happen that way.
I don't have a plan why Luke could show up there but I really like your idea with Rory!

Since we know she doesn't end the marriage because of Luke, it seems they are setting it up for her to finally have her "epiphany" - she can't rely on Chris - they have a fight, he disappears and isn't there for his family - again. I can see her telling him that she can't be with someone who behaves so irresponsibly.

I mean, after all that went on with Luke, he still shows up to support her and Rory at the hospital. And, she has one fight with Chris and he's no where to be found. Says reams about the difference between the two men. And, while Lorelai isn't leaving because of Luke, maybe she will finally realize she deserves more than an immature man-boy as a husband.

And, now, Luke really is the man that got away. Somewhere buried deep inside, I can't help but believe Lorelai must be thinking that to some extent.

Actually, Chris is doing exactly what she THOUGHT Luke was doing last year. She felt like Luke just left her hanging. Her babydaddy/husband actually does it. Sucks to be her, I guess.

Thanks for the EW review Mots

I like this:
Quote:
If the scenes for next week are to be believed (Richard's heart-attack scare intensifies, and Luke shows up to the hospital ready to be of use while bratty Christopher remains AWOL), weren't we viewers just marking 12 episodes before the inevitable Luke-Lorelai romance reaches its crescendo? I, for one, feel used.
Count me in!

Whatever went on last year with L/L and how Lorelai perceived what Luke was doing - i.e., not being fully committed, perhaps not loving her enough - the guy never would have not been there for something so huge as what is coming up next week with Richard. I mean, he's even coming to help at this late date after everything that happened.

Maybe on some level she is trying so hard with Chris and giving him this chance because she realizes she blew it last year by not giving Luke a chance, by not taking time to sit down and actually talk to him about how she was feeling and letting him know she felt they were growing apart. Maybe she realizes now that had she done that, they might have made it to the alter.

So, now, she is going out of her way to to not screw up so badly again. Who knows? This "journey" is just plain headscratching and stupid to me. So, I don't know what DR could be planning or thinking.

Oh, I am scratching my head too. The little bit of Anya in me thinks it is a nice bit of vengeance.
