does it matter? how satisfying are the names of extra characters? the chances of us actually get one called "Pastor Bob" or "Justice of the Peace" are really small.

Warner Bros. and the CW declined comment, but one of my deeply-imbedded Stars Hollow moles confirms that Graham will be listed as a producer beginning with Tuesday's episode. My spy says the promotion was most likely a precursor to formal contract extension talks with Graham. (Her deal with the show ends this season.) "It's a step in the right direction," says my source.

In an interview with me last June, Graham made no secret of her desire to see her Gilmore role expand. "I would like to be a producer on the show, but that's not anything [Warner Bros.] is gonna let me do," she said at the time. "I think, at this point, any request [might lead to], 'Well, if you want something then we want an eighth season' kind of thing."

In that same Q&A, Graham also said she'd "never" do the show without TV daughter Alexis Bledel by her side. But what if Bledel were to drop in during, oh, say, November, February and May? As I reported in Ask Ausiello last week, that's one of several life-sustaining Gilmore scenarios the network and studio are said to be throwing around should Bledel nix a full-time commitment.

The wild card in all this? Scott Paterson, whose deal also expires in May and is rumored to be angling for a hefty raise. Suddenly, last year's ill-fated Team Palladino negotiations are looking like a walk in the park with Paul Anka.

wow, a producer? thanks for that article Katie. Of course SP wants a raise, his storylines and screen time have like doubled in the last two seasons.

I say give it to him. His acting has been the only thing consistent to GG.

Thanks Katie!! I'd say that sounds pretty optimistic... gah I really don't want to get my hopes up though... but it sounds good!! And definitely, give SP the raise... he deserves it!!

OT: Am I allowed to bring a post over from the MT? Somebody went on a tour and has some interesting reports...

Just thought I'd ask before I did so, in case there's some kind of rule against it. I'm surprised someone hasn't brought it over here already.

i'm still undecided on this whole season 8 thing. I always imagined it ending with Rory's graduation, and I think Lorelai finding out she's pregnant 22 years later and when she's finally getting Rory out of the house would be good tv irony, I don't think I trust DR to take it any further than that.

SP, as far as I know, has always signed only one year contracts. Hence, the nail biting each year. I would have thought he got a pretty significant raise when he signed for this season along with moving up in the credits and insuring he had a separate storyline while all this C/L silliness went on.

I guess we will see tomorrow if her name is listed. That will be a tad telling given everything she has been saying. I mean, if she's so darn tired, why had producing to your responsibilities on top of everything else. Seems contradictory to me.

All this s8 discussion is so confusing. One day there is an article saying black then the next day there is another one saying white.
I don't want to get my hopes up yet.

But only if SP is in. God i can't even imagine what if..... No bad thoughts.

So I'm thinking, if we do actually get the season 8, then could they please save the baby news for later? I definitely wouldn't mind LL being married by the end of this season, and if there won't be an 8th, then sure, throw in the baby news as well. But if they continue with the season 8, I'd love it if they'd save the baby news until a few episodes into the 8th, so we can get a little bit of LL newly-wed life. Oops, I'm letting my hopes get too high again

I cannot wait to hear that letter tomorrow night... 26 hours!!

Season 8 will be with Scott. I have no doubt about that one

And now that we know Lauren is going to be a producer I'm more sure about another season than before

Thanks Katie! What interesting news. LG is so ambitious...I wonder if her role as producer will help the show or fail it, though.

Is it bad that sometimes I don't want there to be an 8th season, because it'll prolong the LL reunion -- and I want to see it NOW? Yea, it's bad. I take it back.

Why every time something that involves LG is out the rumor mill starts again? I don't know if LG and SP hate or love each other. What i know is that what i see on screen pleases me and is much more believing than when acting with her so called "favorite" DS.

Oh I love the rumor Lauren doesn't like Scott

Because every time she talks about kissing Scott or how they go for it on the show tells me they really hate each other

If hate looks like that I want to hate Scott, too
