I agree Chris always knew he was second choice that's why he was such in a rush to change everything in her life.

Lorelai doesn't love Chris and you can tell that everytime she mutter out ILY its so not sincere.

She looked at Luke so lovingly at the mall it was really feelings from her heart.

IMO, something MUST happen in the hospital....maybe Dopey insulting or yelling at Lorelai, prob even in front of Rory, and when she tells him to stay calm, he yells at her too or says something really bad......THAT would wake Lorelai up.....she doesn´t care for herself, but for Rory.....and if Dopey is treating Rory bad, THAT could be her wake-up call.....

Thanks Mots for the thread.

I was a little sad in parts about seeing the family together knowing how things are gonna turn out in a few week. Over all it was a good ep, very good. Great writing and even the acting was good, I liked most of it. I'll have to think a bit more to get all my thoughts in order.

back to catch up...

BTW the early number make for sad reading 3.65 Mil, that's a season low and 0.7 down on ep 10. It's probably the lowest since season 4 but I'll have to check.

Didn't we have a spoiler that Chris sees something after he arrives at the hospital and "can't handle it", or something like that? Seems like he's the one that is constantly walking away. Not that I mind that, you understand. So, maybe that's what helps Lorelai see that he's not going to be there for her and, um, causes her to end it.

Geez - why is this so complicated? I find Lorelai's steadfast refusal not to see what's right in front of her and, in the process, dragging the hurt on more and more, too painful to watch. Really - is there anyone who loves Lorelai who hasn't been hurt (or will be hurt) by her decision to pursue a relationship with Chris? Including Chris? Is she really so delusional?

I so hate what this storyline has done to my Lorelai. She has absolutely no credibility anymore.

clmorrow I agree Lorelai has not mourned her loss of Luke, they had that street fight then the supermarket and she cried a little but this was BIG and I feel there is more to come before they hook up, get hitched and have a baby.

ITA with the thinking that since they were already engaged so lone next time not so much, I bet the town and Emily could get something together in a few weeks if Lorelai can do all the arrangements in one day before, why note.

Ah those stupid ILY. Just words nothing more. Actions speak louder and by just looking at Lorelai when she is with Luke and her eyes light up and she smiles an honest smile tells me more than those stupid words.

I'm so angry at that son of a witch with a b. The guy is really unbelievable. I mean he always wanted her and did everything he could to get her but that now really tops it all. What a calculating dip*****. Knowing all of that and just scenting his chance to weasel his way in. That Lorelai couldn't think straight or knew what she was really feeling - we know that but he algid took advantage of her and that whole situation - ARG !!! I'm so mad

Maybe what happens is that after he storms out of the house, she actually (finally) starts to really look at what she has done and is doing and begins to think about the things that Chris says to her in the fight. Maybe she realizes there is truth in what he said.

By the time he finally arrives at the hospital after not being there for her and Rory, that will be the final light that goes on. Yes, he was second choice; no, she doesn't love him the way she loved (loves?) Luke; no, he never has been responsible and there for Rory and finally she decides to end it.

I too think that Chris will likely make one more appeal to try to make it work and that it really will be Lorelai who says no. Otherwise, I really won't know what this stupid "journey" was all about -- she has to realize and acknowledge her actions and her feelings and learn that she made a mistake. Him walking out on her doesn't do it for me.

And, also, if he does the leaving - what is the epiphany? I'm going with my spec above - I think that is how this unfolds. (and, yes, I know nothing - it is all my spec and hope for how this plays out). But, we did get info that epiphany plays out a little slower so I think the fight will be what starts her finally "seeing" herself in this whole mess.

When someone makes those kinds of accusations and questions your love, usually (if you are a thoughtful person at all) you reflect on why that is and take stock of yourself and your situation.

Just two weeks and we will know.

BTW - MM, I don't want to be mean here, but she is a big lady, it would be relatively easy to hide any pregnancy given the show wraps production in about April, on the other hand it it was Lauren then not so much.

I'm not sure that Chris would be looking to fix things with Lorelai. He may come to the hospital just because he thinks it's the right thing to do, but I'm not so sure he'd be wanting to make things right. Christopher is too selfish and self centered to ever accept that he came second to anyone. He'd never be able to stay married to Lorelai and be happy about it. He'd always glare at Luke and the townies and mostly Lorelai. He'd know they weren't what he was expecting them to be. Chris wanted to be Lorelai's everything and he's learning (or finally facing) that he isn't and never was going to be. She settled because he conveniently could supply her with the whole package. But it wasn't really about loving him. I think when Chris sees what he sees at the hospital it's just going to sting even more. He'll be seeing living proof that Luke really is that guy Lorelai described in that letter.

I think they're seperation will be mutual. Both finally coming to terms with the fact that they shouldn't have gotten married because 1) Lorelai was no where near ready and 2) Luke is it. They both always knew it, but they've both been ignoring it.

Maybe in the end it will be mutual but not at first, we have that spoiler. But since when has a break up been mutual at the start? It always takes someone to make the first move.

Does the extended promo make anyone squirm and grimace? Lorelai is so weak. Her attempt to hug him makes my heart hurt. I used to love her because she was so strong and sure of herself. What has she become?

Okay I may be a crazy GG (or LG) fan -- but did anyone else notice that the tone of her voice when she says "I love you, I love you" is exactly the same as when, in the ultimatum, she says "I pick you, I pick you"...referring to the purple wallpaper vs Luke?
