bringing over the rest of my recap

Lorelai and Rory and Gigi are in CS kitchen. They are making some xmas stuff with popcorns and stuff. Lorelai goes on about good gigi is by adding at it.. she then says to rory that hers is good too.

Oh in the scene before chris brings the trees....lorelai asks rorys about her and logan. she says things are better. She says she was mad at first but logan apologized many times and things were better. She also says she realizes that logan was kind of right and that she shouldn't have gotten sucked into the whole lie...cause lucy was her friend. She says that lucy still hasn't spoken to her

back to the kitchen scene...lorelai and rory talk about the letter...lorelai says that she can't think of what to say. She does this bit about how her brian is full of weirdness (just noticing it apparently  ) Chris comes in lorelai abruptly changes the subject and kisses Chris. Then looks off into space uncomfortably.

There's a lane, mamakim, and zach scene....They're being all protective lane and what she eats...lane is apparently hiding chocolate in a pillow near the coach...seh seems really uncomfortable about everyone asking her all these really annoying details... (like zach asking how many times she peed today)

there is a scene with luke and april upstairs. They open each others presents. April gives him a weird mask which apparently her. April had some clay on her face...and she goes into this weird very ggesque story.

Lorelai and Rory are in Westons. WEstons is all out of the special peppermint coffee thing. Lorelai does a funny bit about the peppermint. Rory asks why Lorelai is lying to Chris. She says she's not lying...and then changes the subject by insisting that htey go shopping. Rory goes on about how honesty is the best policy (insert scene from promo) and lorelai explains how chris has been weird about luke stuff since she ran into him with doula.

They go to the mall and run into luke and april.
April and luke explain the debacle about the rock-shaper gift. April says luke has always been a good gift giver. Rory and Lorelai kind of snicker....Rory starts prattling off all the weird gifts luke has given her over the years..especially xmas and birthday gifts.

was thinking.. what if it's Lorelai coming to her senses, deciding she isn't going to stay down any longer and she declares her feelings to Luke. In a grand fashion.. gestures..etc. They go camping. Ya know, hence the Kayak.
that's so much better than what i was thinking. i was guessing it was gonna be the "Lorelai is single ep" but i'd much rather yours.

Gilmore Girls: Santa's Secret Stuff - TV Squad

Quote:
When I was out in LA, I ran into a few members of the Gilmore Girls cast at the various network parties. Whenever I brought up the topic of whether there's going to be another season or not, the answer I got didn't seem to vary much. It wasn't definitive by any means, but the general feeling was that, yes, we're probably seeing the last episodes of the long-running show.

That's a good thing, folks. While episodes like tonight's had quite a bit of the chemistry of the first five-plus seasons, you just know that it's not going to last. But at least we're seeing some peeks into what we might see in the second half of the year, and it certainly looks like the Chris/Lor 'shippers are going to be disappointed.

Think about it; didn't it just seem like Lorelai had this look of "My God! Luke is maturing before my very eyes!" as she listened to his plea for her to write that letter of recommendation? After all, he's now stepping up and defending his right to be in April's life and he's asking Lor for help. Too bad this didn't happen a year ago, right? Anyway, between this scene and the scene in the science store, Lor realizes that Luke hasn't only been in her life a hell of a lot more than Chris, but he's been more of a father to Rory than Chris has ever been. And judging by the scenes from next week, Chris is going to find that out as well (you knew the minute she got up from her typewriter that Chris was going to find the handwritten version. Too bad we have to wait until next week to see it).

This episode proves once again that Lorelai and Rory speaking to each other on the phone can't replicate the chemistry between Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham when they are interacting in person in a scene. That has been in woefully short supply this year, and I hope they give Rory more excuses to hang around Stars Hollow; maybe make her winter break two or three months long or something.

The whole Christmas-in-January plot? It was cute, I guess. It served as a convenient way to show that Rory has been in London with Logan. It also gave them an excuse to show GiGi (I thought she was in France?) talking about Santa and to put Rory and Lorelai in silly holiday sweaters. I thought it was funny that Lor didn't mind talking about Luke in front of GiGi, figuring she wouldn't understand a word of it. I'm surprised she didn't blab when Chris walked in the room; that's what usually happens in TV-ville, right?

And Chris still doesn't seem to get it; yes, the Ror/Lor Xmas tradition seems weird and closed off, but instead of going with it, Chris overdoes it again, pulling out stockings that even Martha Stewart would find too ornate. He's trying to force the family together instead of letting it find its flow, and it's not working.

Here's what I don't get, though: Rory's a pretty sharp person. How can she equate "I didn't tell artsy chick about me and Marty" with "hey, how 'bout telling Dad about helping Luke keep his kid?"

Always nice to see April again, and that's saying a lot, considering what a disruptive force she was last season. You can see that she's Rory from Season One, with all the precociousness and desire to break out of being a kid and just do what she wants. It's kind of sad that such a bright kid, even a fictional one, needs to be stuck in the middle of such a dispute, but that's the way it is. I mean, how many teenage girls get all happy when they get a rock-polishing kit?

OK, a quick word about the "Lane is giving birth to a beach ball" plot. When was the last time we saw her and Zack? Because she's gone from "I'm pregnant!" to being seemingly 8-9 months along. Yes, I know twins are a hefty load for a woman to carry; just ask my sister-in-law (Rich's wife, of course). But, if the calendar is to be believed, Lane should only be 4-5 months along. I guess she could be this big already, but it seems like they're exaggerating her belly just so we could have an episode full of "Angry Behemoth Lane." It does seem like she never got a chance to have fun as an adult; from hiding her drumsticks from her mother to being pregnant within two years. Yikes. I don't blame her for still wanting to be rock 'n' roll, despite the bundles of babies she's got growing inside her. Nice touch with Sebasitan Bach's kid (not his real kid, his character's kid). It's a little girl wearing a Ramones t-shirt and a ski cap. "What up?" Cool.

By the way: one Michel scene and one Sookie scene. Why even bother calling them to the set if you're not going to give them anything to do?

So, like I said, overall, the episode wasn't bad. And the Aerie Girls finally got the boot, which is always a good thing. But I can start to hear a faint sound in the background of this show. When I strain to hear it, I recognize it's sound: a rattle. The death rattle. Can you hear it, too?

Absolute favorite line of the episode: when Luke says "of course" after Lorelai explains why they're having Christmas after Christmas. It was perfect.

Same. I loved how he didn't even question it. I also loved him saying that he really meant "how are things going?" Too cute.

I am sorry to do this on such a happy thread and day but... in my opinion from the above quote. I think it all falls on Amy's head. From the end of S4 onward. This show should have progress like people do in normal life... L/L fell in love. We've been waiting for that from say almost since S1.

When they finally got together, she should have let things progress naturally. She shouldn't have gone back and bring in DS/Christopher in a sl to do with any kind of romantic partner for Lorelai.

She drop the ball right there and DR took up the ball and ran with it. It's too early to say the show is dead completely, but I think it's the TPTB kill this show with contrive rediculous sl.

Happy thoughts, I am glad to see the last ten minutes of the show to be very good.

I think I've fallen in love with Luke all over again.

You know what I love the most about him? How he has gracefully managed to forgive Lorelai (not that there aren't things she has to forgive him for, just saying) and he's able to accept that she's "moved on" without holding any sort of grudge against her. It will always be my view that she hurt him more than he hurt her -- so to see him be so kind to her and normal with her and just, I don't know, decent in his all around character, is so endearing. He's not playing the blame game or overly hurting or wasting his time worrying about what could have been; instead, he's focusing on the important things in his life, and he's being such a wonderful dad. That's not to say that I think he's over Lorelai or that he doesn't care about all that happened. Because I know he still loves her as much as he ever did. I just think he's matured so beautifully this season and has become such a good, genuine person. I am so impressed with him.

End silly speech.

I think the season is looking up now I wonder if that will be reflected in the ratings and reviews.

So on balance how was the ep, did the L&L make the C&L bearable?

So I was looking at my pictures more closely and wished that I had noticed this when I was there, but in the window of Stars Hollow Video is a decal for a cafe. I think it says Lila's Cafe but I'm not sure because of the reflection in the window. Can anyone else make it out? And any ideas on what it could be for? Or is that what they used for some of the Paris stuff?

No that was a great "silly" speech.

So the letter (could we have wished for more) and then no Dopey at the hospital we all know where this is going.

Anyone else thing the Lorelai voice over for the letter might be only for the promo?

THE PREVIEW!!! OH MY GOSH!!!!!

"Luke has been like a father to Rory. Once he's in your life, he's in your life."

SQUEEEEEE!!! I cannot wait for next week... oh my gosh I almost started crying during that preview for next week!! She can't say she doesn't love him!!! Because she so does!!! I am so excited!!

Oh, I liked the episode tonight so much!! It snowed when she mailed the letter!! I could actually look past the dopey stuff this time, because it's the beginning of the end!! The balance was actually pretty decent this time around... but GiGi was stupid... I guess she takes after her parents... "You do Santa's dry cleaning?? Really??" Geez... haha... BTW notice how Lorelai left the notepad she wrote Luke's letter on the table by her old-school typewriter... looks like that's where Chris finds it. Hopefully it will be around the beginning of the episode next week... oh my gosh, I cannot believe that's next week!! Ok, I really need to go to bed now, but I am so excited!! Who else LOVED the looks Lorelai was giving Luke when he and Rory were talking in the mall?? I was like awww!!!

Lane's belly looks fake to me... and she walks really funny haha but I loved her storyline!! So cute... Zack is such a sweetheart to her...

ETA: From the looks of the preview, it looks like Lorelai and Rory go to the diner next episode... since Rory's hugging Luke and all, maybe a congratulations on winning partial custody? Hmm...

Nope. I'm thinking maybe that they'll start with Luke in the court, and have the judge read it, then the voice will change to Lorelai, then we'll jump from Luke to Chris reading the letter. They can go as cheesy and dramatic with this as possible, here.

Tara, great post about Luke. I just loved him tonight. He was great. He's so putting himself totally into being April's dad. And you can tell how much he still loves Lorelai, and also Rory. But he's not being bitter or angry. It's so sweet.

As I rewatched the ep, I noticed so many more "LaLa"s.

Also, I love how the last time we had a shot of Lorelai walking away like that (6.22), it broke our hearts, and now this time, it gave us hope.
