Episode 7.12: To Whom It May Concern

GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS — Noticing Sookie’s (Melissa McCarthy) recent odd behavior, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) forces Jackson (Jackson Douglas) to tell her the reason. Luke (Scott Patterson) and Anna (Sherilyn Fenn) attend a hearing to decide their custody battle over April (Vanessa Marano). With help from Paris (Liza Weil), Rory (Alexis Bledel) finally makes amends with Lucy (Krysten Ritter), who tells her that she and Marty (Wayne Wilcox) have broken up. While attending Richard’s (Edward Herrmann) economics class at Yale, Rory witnesses a frightening scene. Finally, Christopher (David Sutcliffe) finds the letter Lorelai wrote for Luke’s character reference and confronts Lorelai about whether he was her second choice. Jamie Babbit directed the episode written by David Babcock

TV Guide: Rory returns to Yale after winter break and leaves Lucy a note apologizing for her deception, while Paris ambushes Rory with her master plan of things they need to accomplish in their last semester. Meanwhile, Luke and Anna appear before a judge in the custody case; Sookie asks Lorelai to babysit so she and Jackson can go skiing, but Sookie's behavior is mysteriously erratic; and Christopher makes a discovery that leaves him shaken. RICHARD IS HOSPITALIZED — In the hospital waiting room, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Emily (Kelly Bishop) anxiously await word on Richard’s (Edward Herrmann) condition. When Logan (Matt Czuchry) hears what is happening, he borrows a helicopter to be by Rory’s side, but Lorelai is unable to reach Christopher (David Sutcliffe), who is still angry over their fight the night before. Upset by Emily’s attempt to remain calm by dealing with her social calendar, Lorelai is relieved when Luke (Scott Patterson) shows up unannounced and volunteers to run errands for Emily. Christopher finally arrives to be with Lorelai, but the scene at the hospital is more than he can take. Lee Shallat Chemel directed the episode, written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner

TV Guide:While Lorelai, Rory and Emily wait at the hospital for news of Richard's condition, Logan borrows a helicopter so that he can be there with Rory, and Luke arrives to help out and ends up running errands for Emily. Meanwhile, Lorelai cannot reach Christopher, to whom she hasn't talked since he stormed out of the house.

eee.. new spoiler!

So the whole "Luke realizes he was enough" part... the only time we saw him doubt that he was enough was the whole "i'll go back to serving you coffee" thing... is there a chance we may actually get him admitting that the reason he kept Lorelai and April apart was that he didn't want her to see him fumble up fatherhood before they were married, had kids, etc...? 'cause i'd really love to see him take back the 'she'll like you better comment' and replace it with something more believable.

And yipee Capp...thanks for the fantastic spoiler. I know you said it was small, but I think it speaks volumes about one of the core issues in the first go-round for LL...this realization is huge, and can have a great and positive impact on the entire LL future!

Thanks for the spoiler Cap! It's so nice to enjoy a spoiler without feeling guilty about it! I can't wait to see the look on Luke's face as the judge reads the letter. There might not be enough Kleenex in the world for us that night.
