wow, that scene at the Dragonfly should be interesting....I can't wait to see how LG & SP play that off...
I don't know, I'm thinking more and more that the letter is a secret thing...I really don't want her to tell Chris
I like how the description hints at how important Luke has been in Rory's life...I hope that it will bring up the issue of Chris being non-existant, I still think it should be addressed...maybe an in vain hope

okay, i'm near tears so happy, but impatient....wow, i need help....maybe a good fan fic...suggestions anyone?

and MickeyJr3000...nice

Omigd....heart pounding faster all of a sudden...

What are the chances we'll actually HEAR part of this letter?

Because, damnit...the spoiler "She remembers what he did for Rory" and the subsequent inspired letter that'll make Chris mad......it's too good...I can almost see Luke listening to the words Loreali may write and...man, I hope I don't overthink this. I really don't want to overthink this before I get overhyped...

Breathe, Steph, breathe....

Gonna come back with that fake letter I wrote a long while ago. Not exactly fanfic but it's better than nothing on this happy night.

Ok. I've been smiling for fifteen minutes. Not to be outdone in nerdiness, I had to whip out my Abnormal Psych book (Barlow/Durand, 1995; damn 10th reunion) and look up dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, and (yup) possession disorder.

There are "a number of 'running' syndromes in which individuals enter a trancelike state and suddenly, imbued with a mysterious source of energy, run or flee for a long period of time. In most cultures...the prevalence of running disorders is somewhat greater in women...Among the Navajo tribe the disorder is referred to as frenzy witchcraft."

Oh, and there's the case study of the sheriff who becomes an outlaw during his fugues.

Hee.

I really dislike the episode description. It doesn't foretell tension in the C/L/R Christmas. (I wanted Chris to be pushing for new traditions, in effect voiding the last 20 years of old traditions.) I hate that Lorelai has to be reminded of Luke's good. I hate that the letter will be predominantly about Rory when Lorelai also has info about Luke's effort with April (if not his interactions) and his care of Jess, Liz, Lorelai, Rory, and the town and his general focus on family.

ETA mb16, people read your post, you just hit a bad moment with spoilers and episode descriptions and the like. Craig (lancer) usually welcomes new posters, but he's not here today. So welcome!

Thank you for the epi description.

P.S. I just have to say that I am officially sick of listening to college fight songs after I help my nephew create a video of his high school football days!

Thank you, thank you, thank you

From what I gather, Chris finds the original, and it cuts back and forth between the judge reading his copy as Chris is reading his. We also see Luke's reaction to it...and it's classic Luke. Sigh.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you

...and I'm loving the ep 7.11 description!

Thank you Elle!!! And thanks Tanja, for the description!

SO happy. Not only is the letter amazing, but it seems like the direction of the episode will be too; I love, love, LOVE that we'll see the reactions of Luke and Chris intertwined.

It's a little ridiculous that Lorelai couldn't remember right away the impact Luke has made on hers and Rory's life, but I'll take what I can get. I'm nervous about the LL scene in the Inn...I really hope it's good. I also hope it's longer than the 30 seconds we got in MF...

Whose voice do you think we'll hear reading the letter? Or will it be both? I am so exciteddddd I can hardly stand it. If the letter is a let down I'm going to be OH so dissappointed. I can't give DR any more free passes on this season; it's now or never. Bring on the epiphany!

ETA: Sorry for my post sounding like a ten-year old wrote it. I'm a little giddy

I wonder if while Lorelai is babysitting, Christopher decides to snoop around the house and that's how he finds it. For some reason I feel like Lorelai would handwrite a letter like that, which would mean she'd have to copy it if he finds the original, but maybe for court reasons it has to be printed. But I can't see that Lorelai would be so stupid as to leave a file open on the computer where he could find it easily. It would seem he would have to be on the computer and searching through files. Unless of course she just has it saved on her desktop as "Luke Letter" or something. And doesn't Christopher have his own computer? Why would he be on Lorelai's?

I'm rambly when I'm sick. I'll stop now.
It doesn't matter why

I'm thinking she used Chris' computer and it needed to be typed. Or maybe she did it at the DFI and a second copy was printed just for Chris not I just this it was an early draft or maybe she wrote to out first before typing it up at work.

ETA - Maybe Chris is using the same computer and goes to the recent opened files list and sees "Letter for Luke" and opens it, but only if it's a computer at home. But again does it really matter how he found it, remember they have no secrets

And again can I shout THANK YOU! and I'm loving the 7.11 description, even the family stuff knowing what happens the next week

Thanks Mots for the thread!
Thanks elle for the amazing spoiler!!!
Thanks Tanja for the ep description!!

OMG!!! I'm so happy right now!!!
And I do hope so much that this will be it! This will be the start of "only good LL Spoilers" for the rest of the season!!!

I don't really care why there are 2 copies von the letter, but I do think, that the first was a handwriting - just a draft. And the second one was typed and send to the lawyer.

I'm so curios what that letter says and if it really is just about what Luke did for Rory.

Will the letter be deciding for lukes victory about partial custody?

I want to apologize in advance if my long-winded rant has already been brought up and discussed at length. Like I said before, I am new here!

I'm a LL person; but I think LC needed to happen (in addition to the obvious Luke insecurity reasons) for the sake of Lorelai's relationship with her parents. Obviously they've never been truly supportive of the LL relationship (or any non-LC relationship for that matter), always hoping that the timing would one day be "right" for LC.

I think the upcoming letter stirs the pot, but the good LL stuff happens around Emily and Richard in the hospital; they need to realize once and for all that LL belong together. IMHO, Lorelai's LL epiphany stems from an Emily LL epiphany (and disclosure to Lorelai) that Luke is truly is better for her (this explains the great Emily/Lorelai stuff we've been promised). We've already seen Emily confront Lorelai about LC this season. However, this time she finally swallows her pride and admits, it wasn't the timing, LC just aren't right for each other.

Maybe Lorelai jumped into bed/married Chris b/c she was tired of everyone and everything always working against her realtionships?!? She figured, hey, if I'm back with Rory's dad, even though I won't be truly happy - at least everyone else will!

IMHO for LL to work out in the end, not only do Luke and Lorelai have to decide they want to be together, but Emily (and Richard) must also finally accept the LL relationship. This would be a good way to resolve some of the Lorelai/parent issues if this truly is the last season. Okay I'm done!
Welcome to the thread and FanForum, you sound like you'll fit right in here.

Okay I blame FF!

Why is it goes fine for weeks over the holidays then just as spoilers happen FF wants to have a break down, maybe it's a BB and can't cope with the news?

BTW – I didn’t get the S5 DVD, none in stock where I went, but I think there is a local online store that has it cheaper.

I was just going through old threads trying to find something, but before I get to that, I found the NeShBe list of ways to kill off Christopher, and got really excited reading this:

Quote:
20. Taylor looses his grip on the gavel at a town meeting and it hits Chris right in the face. How he dies from it is left up to the imagination
My imagination just went to how this could be done, even though I don't see him dying from it...getting the gavel to hit somewhere else really accurately... Ahh, it's just nice thinking about that.

Now to regularly scheduled programming:

My Old Post

Quote:
Alright...I spent the past 30 hour writng a letter instead of doing my homework. So you'd better read and review!

To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Lorelai Gilmore and I have known Lucas Danes for approximately ten years. My friendship with him has allowed me to see the responsible, family man qualities that Luke possesses as a natural part of his character. He is not only a father of thirteen year old April Nardini, but also a devoted son to the late William Danes, a caring brother to his sister Liz and her husband, a supportive uncle to his nephews Jess Mariano and William, a dedicated member of the Stars Hollow community, and a respectable business owner. He is also a selfless, caring and dependable friend, as I have seen during my years of knowing him.

I met Luke Danes as a customer in his diner, and regularly eat there with my daughter, Rory, who is now at Yale University. During those years, he would offer me any kind of support I needed with respect to my homeowner needs; voluntarily fixing porches or roof shingles. Luke has been a regular friend to both me and my younger daughter. He has baked her birthday cakes and attended her parties, cooked for her when she became, attended her graduation from high school, and helped her move in to university. He always asks her about school and shows concern in her well-being. As a witness to all he has done for my daughter, albeit completely voluntarily, I have to say he one of the most influential male role models in my daughter's life, following her grandfather. Her father, in comparison, had a considerably small presence in her life and was rarely a supportive part of her life, despite his relative proximity during the past few years. If you would ask my daughter, now twenty two and almost out of university, about Luke, she would have nothing bad to say of him.

I was also a witness to Luke's behaviour as a guardian to his nephew, Jess, when he was seventeen. Jess stayed with Luke for about two years while trying to push through his last years of high school. He had arrived because his mother was having trouble disciplining him and he was doing so poorly in school. Luke had known nothing about parenting or raising children at the time Jess came to live with him, but nevertheless tried as best as he knew to keep his nephew out of trouble and on a positive path. He put him through school and gave him a job at his diner to learn responsibility. He showed discipline and caring to the boy despite Jess's misgivings as a teenager. Luke also regularly sought my advice for parenting because he wanted to ensure he was doing what was best for his nephew. Jess regrettably did not pass high school despite Luke's efforts, but during the past two years, I have learned that he wrote a short novel, and started up a small bookstore in Philadelphia. He has emerged a young, responsible adult, and I believe his success is due in part by Luke's role model behaviour and support.

Lucas Danes, has been a family man ever since I've known him. He had a tight relationship with his father, whom he cared for during his last years of life. Luke supports his sister and nephews during any crisis no matter the sacrifices he would have to make. He's selfless and caring, although humble at his positive attributes.

Luke had not known of his daughter April Nardini, until approximately 15 months ago when she informed him from an informal DNA test. This was because Anna Nardini did not inform Luke that she was pregnant after their break up. Despite the twelve years that Luke missed, he immediately stepped up to the plate to seek a relationship with April Nardini, as well as pay financial support for her. In about a year, Luke has developed a positive relationship with his daughter, so close that he was trusted to take care of her for several weeks while Anna was away to take care of her sick mother. Luke wanted to get to know April and be a good father. He went on a class trip with her and arranged her birthday party last year. He also recently dealt with a medical crisis with maturity as I was a witness to. He called me when his daughter was feeling ill for advice, and immediately took her to the hospital when I informed him it could be serious. He stayed at the hospital the full three days that she was there.

In summary, Luke Danes is a terrific father, role model, and friend. He possesses the character of a responsible guardian and a supportive adult figure.

April has a fantastic father who loves her and would do anything for her. Through my experiences over the past ten years, I would conclude that he deserves and is responsible to take on partial custody over his only daughter, as it is necessary in maintaining and developing the relationship they have only started to experience themselves.

Yours Sincerely,
Lorelai Gilmore.
Honestly, looking back at it, it sucks monkey balls. I hope Lorelai's real letter is better than what I did. Mine sounds incredibly passionless. And I'm going to have to push myself from NOT reading fanfics with suggested letters unless they too, are bad. The real thing has to wow me.
