I received this from a source....

Lorelai writes an amazing letter for Luke, which is read aloud in court as Chris simultaneously reads it at home. It's fairly certain by the end of the episode Luke finds out he wins partial custody.

Thanks for the spoiler Dimples. I may just have to watch that one scene. I won't commit myself to the entire episode, but that scene sounds like it will be good. Any chance it will be right at the end so I can just turn on VM early?

Seriously? I'm not doubting you or your source at all, don't worry... but, wow. Could we be so lucky? Why isn't the sky falling? Where's the "but..." in this spoiler?

Prof, CL will have a fight about the letter after he reads it in ep. 12 also... which will probably be right around the end. So it might be good to watch both those scenes.

The OC got cancelled? Really? That's sad. I was actually really liking this season.

Thanks for the spoiler, elle. Yaaay Luke.

Oh goodness, I'm quite behind here, but this has been some good stuff!!

Well, if LL or any other couple for that matter, wait until their issues are solved and buried and their journeys over, then there wouldn't be many couples in the first place. ASP may have thought LL had a lot of personal baggage, but she also said that at one point they'd have to "just suck it up and get it (the wedding) over with."

I hope that happens. I don't care about a wedding, but would like them back as a committed, intimate, cohabitating couple, before the last moment. I don't want neither Luke nor Lorelai ending the show alone, without each other, even if it meant Lorelai barely took one fresh Chrisless breath before reuniting with Luke.
Wow... that's just amazingly said!! ITA Thanks for bringing a new way to look at things!!

Or it overemphasizes the importance of the LL destination to the story while underemphasizing the fan enjoyment of LL moments along the way. (Not saying journey, not saying journey.) I grant that a happy marriage might require Lorelai to shift her view and priorities somewhat, but that might be an interesting transitional process in itself. And Rory will always be a primary focus and friend for Lorelai.

I always thought the only relationship that, if resolved, could possibly end the show is Lorelai and Emily.
That makes complete sense!! Of course, the show is called Gilmore Girls... That definitely includes Emily and her relationship with both Rory and Lorelai. When that relationship is resolved, then it is time for the show to end!!

Well L/L's happiness is a big freakin' zeppelin casting a huge shadow over the rest of the show, ready to crash and burn and take everybody with them. What I wouldn't give for another Bid-a-Basket moment. Or a simple arm around a shoulder because one of them were upset or scared. Or a disgusting Santa Burger. All those "little things" made up Luke and Lorelai. Not the Elusive Wedding at the End of the Series.
ITA

And that's all I really have to say for now... night all!!

Oh! Thanks for the spoiler. You have great timing. I was totally on one of those down swings with my mood about the show.

I'm so happy for Luke. I couldn't have watched if things hadn't gone his way regarding April. He deserves to have his daughter in his life. He's an amazing father.

A spoiler fell from the sky?!?!?!!

Yup. Something's off today when you get a spoiler.

How could the letter be read in court while Chris 'simultaneously' reads it? A piece of paper can't be in two places at once, and I don't see any logic in Lorelai making two copies of the letter.

If it's written on the computer, it would have to be open and Chris would have to have a reason to go on the computer to see it....

Wait a sec, am I speculating???

Seriously, the world's coming to an end.

I refuse to get optimistic again over a spoiler. But I must spec.

Lorelai must either have a carbon copy saved, have a rough, un-typed draft, or have it saved on the computer.

And I'm praying for some good shots of Luke's happy face as he hears this for the first time, compared to Chris's sad, anger look when he reads this... this has the potential to be amazing.

*squee!*

Gee, thanks elle. My rant was overshadowed by your spoilers. You witch with a B.

Seriously, something to look forward to. Thanks.

yay for spoilers! thanks!

so is there a chance that Lorelai doesn't even know that Christopher has read the letter by the time we get to the end of 7.12? I'm feeling very 2-parter-ish for 12 and 13 here..

Ditto! I was just wondering if it would be the first time he was hearing it. And if they are going back and forth it would make a lot of sense to juxtapose their reactions like that. Sounds awesome.

Hmm...I'm excited about the fact that Lorelai writing this letter for Luke will really give her a chance to think about/sort through her feelings/thoughts about him. Even though this probably should have hit me when we got the initial spoiler about Lorelai writing a letter, I'm just really thinking about it now.

She's done a pretty good job of pushing Luke out of her mind since 7.02 or so (at least on the surface) but what is going to happen when she actually has to sit down and think about things in his defense. Since she comes out of it with an "amazing" letter about him, I'm hoping that she is taking the opportunity to realize/remember all of the great things about him (and how much they overshadow his mistakes). Then this butts right up against a fight with Christopher, Luke helping her family and that elusive epiphany. Interesting...

Maybe this was obvious to many of you, but I was having a little trouble connecting the dots before. This is helping...things are starting to make more sense...

ETA: Spec - maybe Sookie is able to "bribe" Lorelai into babysitting by providing her with a quiet place (AWAY FROM CHRIS) to think about Luke and write the letter. It seems like that would be exactly what Lorelai would need at the moment...
