I meant on the new show. I know that "Luke" was originally going to be a girl. I am just full of disbelief at the level of recycling. Al Gore must be ASP's new best friend.

IIRC, the network told her there were too many females and she had to add some testosterone. I can't imagine how the show would have played out with a female diner owner.

I think the LL chemistry is obvious beginning in the pilot, but I remember reading that their soulmate connection was actually planned a bit later, in Kiss and Tell. DP saw their chemistry while they were filming the scene in Doose's where Lorelai is spying on Dean and Luke finds her. (Thanks, DP!)

It's weird to think that LL were not in the original GG tapestry, even if they were very quickly built into it. And on that note, for the first time in a few weeks I have time to watch an episode before I go to bed, so that's what I'm going to do. Just in case I wake up and this haven is gone, I would like to thank everyone and anyone here for all the things you've done for me and for all the wonderful memories I will have of this home away from home. I love you guys! If we never meet again, don't forget this LL wedding fanatic from Texas

Are you referring to Jezebel James or Gilmore Girls? Because with JJ I'm guessing it's one of those shows where not all the characters will be introduced in the pilot - going by what people said who went to the taping and reading the script, it comes across that way. Of course it'll also mean the people who want to throw daggers at ASP will have to go NYC to do so and not Paramount Studios instead

I think there was also the plan to have Scott Patterson in the pilot episode only. I guess with the un aired pilot Amy liked Luke's character as a guy.

I meant that someone said there is a cranky lady diner owner on the new show, which is just recycling the original incarnation of Luke. So, by new show, I really did mean the new one, not the canceled one. Heh.

That is too funny, since I am actually going to NYC, rather than LA for my vacation this year. But no dagger throwing. I look terrible in orange.

I've been in denial a little bit about this place closing. It's sad that I could log in sometime this weekend and it will just be gone. Thanks for everything guys.

Hmm...NYC is a lot more doable than LA! Sorry, I couldn't resist. I was bitter for a while when Partings spoilers came out, but I've gotten over it. I am indifferent to ASP. She created this wonderful show and I know she was responsible for so much of what make us love it for so many years, but...well, stuff happened. That EW article made it seems like she has no intention of revealing her plan for the 7th season or the final 4 eps, so we'll never know if DR's final season was more or less satisfying than hers would have been.

We're a few hours into 5/19 here. I wonder if this thread will be here next time I log on. Thanks for everything, fellow CIP!

Here is a look at Stars Hollow, from movie Norbit. In Norbit, however its called Spring Boils and i think Doose's is called George's Pharmacy and Luke's is Giovanni's. I was surprise when i saw this and everything looked familiar.

I've heard that they weren't actually planned to be soulmates during that time either. But there are so many rumors, that I have no idea what the truth actually is. LOL

Hee. I've heard that the original plan was for Lorelai to end up with Christopher. But that changed due to DS not being available. Not sure if that's true, though.
