I loved that too. There were so many sweet/cute moments like that last night. I really loved the way she was all flirty and joking in the diner with him in the final scene.

.
I agree with this to an extent--last night was about the Girls, and it should have been. But Luke was by no means just a townie. We got his POV more in this episode than I think we ever have. We saw him react to the party being cancelled, we saw him make all the arrangements to get it going again, we saw all the trouble he took to make it happen (that extended shot of him sewing the tarp) and in the shot of everyone cheering and greeting Rory and Lorelai at the party, his face was the one that they focused on at the end. More importantly, he shared in the last moment between the girls. The last image ever of Gilmore Girls is Lorelai, Rory, and Luke in the diner, sharing life's big and small moments.

And I'm satisfied that there is a new understanding between L/L. Yeah, it's kind of frustrating that it's not spelled out, but it's definitely there.

And the way she touches the necklace and the looks they give each other.
I'll miss those two *sigh*

When is that, the first time or for the last scene?

Heh. One of the moments for me was Babette in the diner about to burst into tears. "so this is it?" And again with the tears. I literally cried and laughed through the whole episode. But I understand those who are not completely satisfied and I wish fanfic could work for me but it doesn't. The end was what I saw and the rest doesn't matter because it would never be "real" to me.

And I think that is it for me. I will always love this wonderful show, the characters, the actors and the good with the bad. Just like in any relationship. Though I have learned never to care this much about a tv show ever again. lol. So a strange feeling I am left with. This really is it... wow.

Lorelai going to talk to Chris for some (important!) reason and Luke being TOTALLY calm about it. Why.. because she picked him. LOL
I don't wanna be a pessimistic grouch, but when exactly did she pick Luke. From where I'm standing it looks more like she gave up on Luke and picked Chris - only that didn't work out the way she wanted it to (seriously, how did she not see that coming?) and now she's back to 'but really, I still love Luke...' with no real explanation or anything. There was half a season of her denying any kind of lingering feelings for him and treating each other as if they were less than acquaintances and BAM now she suddenly loves him again...

To me it kind of feels as if she "choose" him by default, you know, because her oh so amazing possibility didn't work out the way she wanted it to...

And while I love the finale and especially the party, the whole 'they've kissed, so obviously they're gonna live happily ever after'-thing doesn't do it for me.

What I mean is that the first time they got together and had their really and truly amazing first date, we all thought that this is it, this is gonna work and it'll be perfect - and then they broke up.

And then they got back together and again we thought they were past the whole Dopey thing and that they'd finally gotten their act together and that it would stick - the whole package. And lookie here, they broke up again!

So how exactly do we know there's not gonna come something else stupid and break them up again? How do we know it'll stick this time? Because of one meesly kiss and a necklace that we don't even get to see him give her?

I'm sorry if I'm being ungrateful or something, but that doesn't cut it for me!

And I hated (yes, hated!) Lorelai when she said Luke didn't know how to show her his feelings and that he can't feel! And then her pretentious bit about giving him all the time in the world and being vulnerable...

It made her look like a real b****! I mean what exactly did she expect from him after she married another man? That he would come running when he probably doesn't even know that she's already divorced? That he'd get up on that stage and play the Reynolds to her Dolly? Does she know him at all?

And all the things he did for her are suddenly worth nothing and meant nothing?

If that's really what she thinks of him, then he's better of without her.

Okay, rant over. Got it out of my system, carry on.

Sorry for being such a downer, but I'm really... I don't know, dissapointed I guess.

To me, this is only true if you look at it completely from Luke's POV and if you forget everything about the way Luke acted in 6.09-6.22, the things he said to Lorelai in 7.02, and fact that as far as Lorelai knew Luke not only had no reaction to her song but was even embarrassed/angered by it. Luke and Lorelai both hurt each other deeply, and I understand her needing a sign from him that he still wants her.

I know what you mean and techinally she didn't pick Luke over Chris. She didn't love Chris and the broke it off and we (= I) know she never stopped loving Luke. Luke will never have to be jealous again. He knows now that it's him and not Chris. Which also happens to be the reason why I'm, and maybe as the only one, is ok with C/L getting married and not just have her jump in his bed. That's the only reason I would ever believe that Luke believes that she's over Chris.

We can't be. But we couldn't be even with a S8 and a wedding. Divorce?? But I know that it'll stick and that's good enough for me.

Okee, in general I feel very happy about this ep and also about the Lorelai/Luke ending ... but as always I will need to see it again to really know how I feel I do still have to block Logan from my mind though ...
Babs, I totally agree. I know I haven't posted much, but even though I'm not really into the Logan and Rory relationship (I didn't hate them, not one bit, I just somehow never got into them) I have to say that I agree with almost all of your posts these past months. You have expressed my exact thoughts yet again! Sometimes I would read your posts and it creeped me out. I really like how you seem to love and get the show as a whole.

For me this episode was a wonderful send-off to my favourite TV-characters ever. It was of course bittersweet and I was reluctant to start watching the ep after the DL, and once I did it was with a feeling of dread. But I loved every bit of it (of course the kiss could've been longer, but somehow the whole not showing the giving of the necklace seemed true GG style). I would've loved to see Luke and Lorelai's "middle" but I resigned to the facts awhile ago.

I loved the scene between Richard and Lorelai, I always felt that these two needed closure, more so than Emily and Lorelai. Also loved that Lorelai will continue attending FND. She needs her parents just as much as they need her. I am so thankful that we got these scenes, I would've been so sad if we hadn't gotten any significant parents/daughter scenes. Only thing I didn't like was that Emily didn't even acknowledge Luke in that scene by the barbecue. A simple "Luke" or "good-bye Luke" would've been good enough.

I loved the mother daughter scenes and I think if they had hugged, both Rory and Lorelai might've broken down. BTW, who else was half expecting Lorelai and Richard to hug or at least reach out to each other? On the other hand, this slightly awkward silence following Richard's kind words was again typical Gilmore style, especially concerning Lorelai and her parents.

Well, it's so hard to say good-bye, but I'll forever be greatful to this wonderful show that's been such a big part of my life for so many years. I'm very positive that I'll never get this invested in a TV-show ever again, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Thank you all for showing me that I wasn't alone with my addiction and that there are many other crazy people out there! And thank you of course to all the people who provided clips, and spoilers and information. And a special thanks to genevieve and copperboom who took the studio tour with me last summer. Sitting here at my laptop in Germany I still can't believe that I actually got to see Stars Hollow (and sit in Luke's armchair in his appartment while lucky Gen sat on his bed!)!!

May 15, 2007: The Goodbye Girls

It’s really over. As hard as it is to write those words, I actually feel like I am able to let go. I had a lot of help, actually. It took a village. Every single person in wonderfully quirky Stars Hollow made it easier to say goodbye to Rory as she left her tiny town for wide-open America. And it was bittersweet.

Who else but Luke would gather everyone to plan a huge last-minute surprise party for Rory in the town square? And when the forecast (aka Babette’s swollen ankles) called for rain, he collected tarps and raincoats to sew together a tent. Sure enough, it was pouring on celebration day when Lorelai and Rory pulled up in their Jeep as all of Stars Hollow huddled beneath that tent. I loved that panning shot of the happy faces that we’ve gotten to know over the past seven years: Zack, Liz, Kirk, Lane, Michel, Lulu, Brian, Gypsy, Miss Patty, Babette, Morey, Taylor, Jackson, Sookie and a wide-grinning Luke all clapping and cheering for Rory. “I can’t believe you pulled it off,” Lorelai told Sookie as she looked around in amazement at all the decorations. Sookie was more than happy to correct her. “It was all Luke. He made me promise not to tell you but I don’t care…He must have stayed up all night doing this.” That’s when she realized this farewell gathering wasn’t all about Rory. And she was right. “I just want to make you happy,” Luke told Lorelai when she thanked him for all his hard work. Then came the moment: The Kiss. Yes, what we’ve been waiting for all season. We’ll never get to see those two underneath a wedding canopy, or the huppah that Luke once built for Lorelai. But they’ll be there. Because we saw The Kiss. And that’s proof enough for me.

I was glad to see Richard and Emily at the festivities, even though they stood alone in a corner. (Considering they never tried to be a part of Lorelai’s special enclave, it was actually the perfect spot for them.) Dick praised Rory at his cocktail soiree but finally turned his affections to Lorelai. “It takes a remarkable person to inspire all of this,” he told his shocked daughter. Only took him 22 years to praise her for the way she raised Rory. Typically grumpy and dour Em eventually cheered up when Lorelai agreed to continue Friday night dinners, no spas, no tennis courts, no strings attached. Looks like the Gilmores agreed to a peace treaty, and without Rory as barter!

Of course Rory wouldn’t be Rory if she didn’t land a fantastic gig. Who needs the New York Times when you’ve got Obama, the bus and the campaign? Wonder if she placed that call to Christiane Amanpour after meeting her at the Dragonfly. Nice cameo! The newsgoddess actually seemed comfortable in an acting role. “Get in there, do what you can, show them what you’ve got and the rest will take care of itself,” she encouraged Rory. Great advice, from her idol, no less.

It’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite moment, but mine was the final scene at the diner. “What a delightful menu! In such a lovely font! We need a minute, we can’t decide,” they told Luke, who’d opened up at 5 am just for them. (Oh, and in case you didn’t catch it, Rory complimented Lorelai on her pretty necklace. Yep, Luke gave it to her!) We left our girls just as we found them in the pilot: bantering over coffee as the camera slowly pulled back from the diner window. Bon voyage, Lorelai and Rory. We’ll really miss you.
That's all I have to say too.

And Babs ITA with you: Luke tellin' Lorelai to tell all the time she needs was a wat to tell Lorelai to take her time to be with Rory one last time and to tell her he's not going anywhere and always gonna be there for her.

Yes the LL part was unsatisfying and I agree to what SP, EH and KB said.

But since it's over I think it's better to make the most of it.

Thanks to everyone who came here and helped us overseas with videao, spoilers, vodcast, transcripts, pictures.

This has been a very nice place for me to come, even when the original thread died and we split up in 2 groups.

Today I've seen Sophies and JJ posting in both thread because, really, we ALL LOVED this show.

I was ready to let go. But it's weird because I have teary eyes and feel sad and I never thought I'd be this emotional.
I guess that comes with the territory.

I love you guys. Thank you very much for everything
