Well I have a 19" LCD which makes things very big (Yes I know Dirty!, sad we won't hear that again) I like to use the whole screen.

Oh an animated Lorelai, now that would be something to see!

That Lorelai can take all the time she needs while Luke is waiting behind the counter?

Okee, in general I feel very happy about this ep and also about the Lorelai/Luke ending ... but as always I will need to see it again to really know how I feel I do still have to block Logan from my mind though ...
I agree! I think the rest of the sentence would be "I'm not going anywhere". Lorelai can enjoy her last moment with her daughter before she leaves because Luke will be there when she's gone.

I also feel very happy about the ep and although I would have loved to see more LL, I can't help feeling quite satisfied. I loved everything around it, especially Lorelai coming to Rory's bedroom at night and Richard's "It takes a remarkable person to inspire all of this"!

I'd like to know that too. And the "direction"? I'm assuming that is about them actually being together? Sigh.. I am trying SO hard to just appreciate what we got.. but then I remember things like what SP and KB said and it makes me a little bit disappointed.

But I still loved the episode. It was just too emotional for me not to like it. All the Lorelai and Rory stuff was just perfect.

The "new understanding" was that they teleported back in time to the end of season 4, after erasing the last three years; right after Rory used the connections gotten through her brokenhearted ex-boyfriend to get a job, and the relationship between Lorelai and her parents was shown to have remained just the same, after all these years...All in all, it was "the stuff dreams are made of".

I feel so sorry and sad for Scott. He wanted way more for his character and LL and they just took that from him. I mean Luke got a good ending with April but the main part - the storyline around and about Luke/Lorelai is nothing now. They are kind of, maybe, something along those lines back together - whoopee. They took the final season from him because they had to put on the disgusting LC show and just dragged him out to play in the pool so fans would have something to watch. Now they were finally getting back on track. The episodes got slightly better and at least those 13 episodes seemed to be done deal with which they could have given the show the ending it deserves.

I really thought it was a GREAT episod!
Everything was great - everything but LL and the LL-Finish!

I think the kiss is very sweet - but way to short!
And that's everything. There isn't anything more - no good morning kiss when they are at the diner, no gentlich touch on her cheek -> nothing!
I'm not pleased with that LL Ending - pleased would be far from it!

But we can't do anything about it!
So please start the Fanfics!!!

Well - depends on what you are reading between the lines!

For me I would say yes they are because she is wearing his necklace and is touching it when Rory mentions it.
But without that necklace - I would not know!

I don't often post here, but now, after the finale has aired I feel, it's the right time.
I've got to say, I just loved the finale.
I mean, ok, i hoped for more L/L interaction but I just don't want to feel negative anymore.
I loved the Emily/Richard/Lorelai Interaction. I love that Lorelai is going to be at Friday Night Dinners even though she doesn't have to anymore.
And I know we didn't get everything we wanted, we didn't get our "middle" but for me it's crystal clear that L/L are going to last this time. Their kiss, their looks, for me it said everything.
For me, they don't need to be married, they even don't need to have a child, they just have to be Luke and Lorelai again, and hell yes, they are!
During this episode i laughed and I cried so much but now I'm ready to let go.
I'm sure there will be much fanfiction about what could have happend after the finale and I'll be happy to read it. But at this time I just want to thank all of you for the clips, the spoilers and the many hours when I was able to read your great discussions in this thread.

May 15, 2007: The Goodbye Girls

It’s really over. As hard as it is to write those words, I actually feel like I am able to let go. I had a lot of help, actually. It took a village. Every single person in wonderfully quirky Stars Hollow made it easier to say goodbye to Rory as she left her tiny town for wide-open America. And it was bittersweet.

Who else but Luke would gather everyone to plan a huge last-minute surprise party for Rory in the town square? And when the forecast (aka Babette’s swollen ankles) called for rain, he collected tarps and raincoats to sew together a tent. Sure enough, it was pouring on celebration day when Lorelai and Rory pulled up in their Jeep as all of Stars Hollow huddled beneath that tent. I loved that panning shot of the happy faces that we’ve gotten to know over the past seven years: Zack, Liz, Kirk, Lane, Michel, Lulu, Brian, Gypsy, Miss Patty, Babette, Morey, Taylor, Jackson, Sookie and a wide-grinning Luke all clapping and cheering for Rory. “I can’t believe you pulled it off,” Lorelai told Sookie as she looked around in amazement at all the decorations. Sookie was more than happy to correct her. “It was all Luke. He made me promise not to tell you but I don’t care…He must have stayed up all night doing this.” That’s when she realized this farewell gathering wasn’t all about Rory. And she was right. “I just want to make you happy,” Luke told Lorelai when she thanked him for all his hard work. Then came the moment: The Kiss. Yes, what we’ve been waiting for all season. We’ll never get to see those two underneath a wedding canopy, or the huppah that Luke once built for Lorelai. But they’ll be there. Because we saw The Kiss. And that’s proof enough for me.

I was glad to see Richard and Emily at the festivities, even though they stood alone in a corner. (Considering they never tried to be a part of Lorelai’s special enclave, it was actually the perfect spot for them.) Dick praised Rory at his cocktail soiree but finally turned his affections to Lorelai. “It takes a remarkable person to inspire all of this,” he told his shocked daughter. Only took him 22 years to praise her for the way she raised Rory. Typically grumpy and dour Em eventually cheered up when Lorelai agreed to continue Friday night dinners, no spas, no tennis courts, no strings attached. Looks like the Gilmores agreed to a peace treaty, and without Rory as barter!

Of course Rory wouldn’t be Rory if she didn’t land a fantastic gig. Who needs the New York Times when you’ve got Obama, the bus and the campaign? Wonder if she placed that call to Christiane Amanpour after meeting her at the Dragonfly. Nice cameo! The newsgoddess actually seemed comfortable in an acting role. “Get in there, do what you can, show them what you’ve got and the rest will take care of itself,” she encouraged Rory. Great advice, from her idol, no less.

It’s nearly impossible to pick a favorite moment, but mine was the final scene at the diner. “What a delightful menu! In such a lovely font! We need a minute, we can’t decide,” they told Luke, who’d opened up at 5 am just for them. (Oh, and in case you didn’t catch it, Rory complimented Lorelai on her pretty necklace. Yep, Luke gave it to her!) We left our girls just as we found them in the pilot: bantering over coffee as the camera slowly pulled back from the diner window. Bon voyage, Lorelai and Rory. We’ll really miss you.

Wasn't going to post, but can't help myself. I finished watching the ep and can't just sit here and stare at the wall and not talk about it.
Got up an hour earlier than usual and at precisicely 4 hours later I started watching and then crying.
I must say that I loved it - every freaking second of it. Call me a push-over, easy to please or whatever, but I liked it a lot. In fact at the time I saw 7.01 in December (when I first built up the nerve to watch) - this episode was spot-on what I could have hoped for at the time. So I'm pleased.

Thank you Craig for bringing over that article.

Amen. Couldn't have said it better myself. This is what I feel. I can't wait to see it again and am looking even more forware to tonight where I plan to start from 1.01. *Sigh*: Goodbye Gilmore Girls, Luke, family and townies. It's been a bumby but mostly great ride.

ETA "Disclaimer". This does NOT mean that I won't be over the moon happy if by some miracle we do get more. I will! I would love to see more LL, Rory on the road, more townies, April etc. And my biggist wish for S8. Silly and stupid, but gosh I would love to see it. Lorelai going to talk to Chris for some (important!) reason and Luke being TOTALLY calm about it. Why.. because she picked him. LOL

Was that the new understanding ? Just sitting on the sideline, watching her and not making a move ? Oh wait that's not knew. We saw that 4 freaking seasons long and then she married someone else. And what do we get half a kiss where they zoom out when it's getting started.
FWIW, I read the "take all the time you need line" as a statement to the viewers: These two have all the time in the world because they're back together and they're not going anywhere. There's no rush.

In the light of day I still find myself strangely apethetic. The only time I was moved to tears was the Lorelai/Richard scenes, Luke's face when he said he only wanted to see her happy and....that was it.

The ep was too paint by numbers as commodore said, and I really truly think LG sent it back for re-writes because she knew she wasn't coming back (regardless of any kind of "talks" she was in) and wanted closure for her character and Rory.

Another thing I came away from the finale was a real sense that the show, the writers and LG wanted to remind the L/L fans that it really was all about The Girls. Everything else was just peripheral, and in the end, even Luke was just a townie. And don't you forget it.

Before the finale I kidded that the "new understanding" was Luke reciprocating the kiss. Huh.

Sounds good to me, plus all the stuff about Luke wanting the girls to spend time together before Rory goes off to her new job.

Can't wait for the fanfic to be written, L&L taking it slow dating and stuff. I bet if we did have S8 that DSRs plan would be a wedding no sooner than ep 10-11.
