Thanks for the new thread and the last clips!

I loved the final episode, only wished it had a bit more LL. I'm willing to make the leap of faith and assume they get their storybook ending. But after watching it twice, I'll admit I'm a little confused by the final LL dialogue. Yes, I loved the looks and tone, but I'm hoping someone can explain the lines themselves to me. For the last season and a half, we've had Lorelai wanting to move forward, frustrated by Luke's need for more time. She reiterates that in the rollercoaster scene with Rory. So why is the final Luke line something to the effect of, "Take all the time you need?" Is it really just about the food, with only the tone being significant, or am I missing something?

I can't be any help because I only have it on VHS, but it was a very quick "Thanks for 7 seasons" sort of thing--lasted less than 30 seconds.

If you're talking about the 10 second thing, at the end of the ep then it's on the clip Jim posted.

Wow 2:50 minutes of LL and only the kissing scene is a true LL moment alone. Man I feel so great about how this show ended and what we got for watching it 7 seasons long.

Who blinked while watching the episode and missed out the LL scenes I put them on you tube

Despite fate intervening for nearly 7 hours, I've found my way onto FF at work with an hour to go. I haven't read all about what happens, but I think I get the gist of most of it.
It's *so* gawd damn tempting to use my works 20MB/s internet connection to *cough* it.

However I'm not ready to lose my job yet.

Thank you so much to blaab, seriously if it weren't for your clips... I would actually have to of learned how to be patient and wait at least 12 hours each week to see the episode... which is extremely hard to do when everyone else is talking about it.

So thank you indeed, for keeping me sane.

And thank you to everyone for everything. There's too many to name, but everyone's contributed to make this place what it is. I say this without having posted here that much, but it's still the first thing I do each morning, and the last thing I do at night, and lots in between... check the spoiler thread and see what's new, and what the latest discussion is.

It's with a heavy heart that I bid this show and this thread farewell.

I just hope people stick around, b/c there is *so* much more to be discussed and explored, mainly in fanfics... and smutfics. I've never written a fic before, but I sure will now.

So this is not goodbye, but it is simply 'til we meet again.

I don't write this to do blame game. I don't hate LG. I think she's good as an actor, and also think as very smart(or sly) as a businessman.
This is just what I understand about this whole situation(? I don't know proper word). And this understanding comes majorly from LG's and other casts's interviews and DO's and DSR's interviews.
And this is very long and boring post(with very ill writing), so to read or to skip it's just your choice.

I think LG had the big role in this Will There or Won't There Be Season8 situation and the dragged S/L of L/L or may I say L/C.
I think she's was like 40 vs. 60 or 30 vs. 70 as positive vs. negative about doing another season. She was not that into another season, but I think she wanted to have options because even if she was tired she knew it would be very hard for her to get another this big role as character wise and as money wise. And of course there's also her production's projects and the producer title things. So to keep the option she had showed more positive attitude about season8 whole season. By doing this, she could give them(CW or WB or DSR) the impression that she's interested in doing season8 and actually she succeeded to make them give her the producer title. And also succeeded to make L/C story go in direction as she thought better drama(Even if L/C's dragged S/L was nothing to do with LG' input, I think she's somewhat responsible because she made DSR belive there would be another season.)
I think LG knew CW wanted GG back very much and that AB was very negative about doing another season, also understood she would have better chance to get what she wanted if she and AB negotiated with CW or WB as a team. So while persuading AB for another season, she kept pushing the limit in negotiation. So, I think, they succeeded to get the pretty amount of money and 13 ep so far. Then they decided to take a one more step so they suddenly threw the 8 ep. deal(If this 8ep.season-deal break info is correct, because it's not the official info. And even if this info is not correct, I think LG and AB were the ones that threw the deal breaker.). And at this point LG and AB decided not to do another season, because they(especially LG) understood CW very likely wouldn't take that deal. But regardless they offered that deal because they didn't have much to lose.
If CW would agree then they would have to work only 2 months, 2 and a half months tops which wouldn't be that much big burden, and for doing that they would get pretty big bucks. For LG, she also would keep her producer title and could get more involved in producing. Maybe she would get to direct a ep. And LG could have a better chance to make her production's show.
If CW wouldn't agree, AB wasn't interested in the first place so she wouldn't mind, and LG would lose to chance regarding her production's show but she already got the producer title which was one of what she wanted and I understand that is very big career point to an actor, besides she didn't want to do another season that much(JMO).
When DSR wrote and sent the Bon Voyage script to her, I think it was more of the season finale. But LG knew it would be the series finale so she sent it back so that DSR could rewrite it as more of the series finale and more emotianl ep.
But you cannot tie the all the loose end in one ep. To do that, there should be the buildup and progress before. Because of the lack of the buildup and progress(or because of very weak buildup and progress), all we got, more acurately all I got is that almost-nothing-(or worse-than-nothing)series finale.

20MB/s and I thought our 1.5 was fast!

Well compare to the 128k I'm on now it's lightning.

BTW I get the promos at work (Gotta love USB flash drives) but they're normally small so don't take long too DL

They only upgraded ours from 2MB/s just last week.
I wasn't brave enough to try and d/l or watch anything at work though. I sit at the reception... next to my boss' office.

Finally time to go home and kick start my welfare internet *coughing*

I might buy some tissues on the way home just in case.

After a rewatch all I can say is... I loved it. I cried just as much the second time around and it really felt like a goodbye not a see you later. Some parts were rushed and uneven, and I agree with SP and KB that in the L/L respect I feel slightly cheated. But.. not so much because of the finale. More because it just shouldn't have been dragged out till the last episode. Thats my only quibble with saying Goodbye and Bon Voyage. Uh and I did feel like the R/E/L stuff was just thrown in there because it might be a series finale. It was sweet but some things felt like they were there just in case. Overall a nice goodbye.

I still can't believe it's over. sniff..

No because an extra 5 minutes doesn't make up for the LC crap I had to sit through ALL season long. They resolved nothing for LL. Where do they stand now ?? Luke is giving her ALL the time SHE wants and needs. Funny how she pulled that ultimatum on him because he didn't move fast enough last season. Funny how she just talked half a day before that to Rory about Luke not being able to show how he feels and that SHE gave him ALL the time in the world and he just didn't react as fast as SHE wanted him to. But now he is giving her the time she needs.
Was that the new understanding ? Just sitting on the sideline, watching her and not making a move ? Oh wait that's not knew. We saw that 4 freaking seasons long and then she married someone else. And what do we get half a kiss where they zoom out when it's getting started.
