Aww, I was like your mom too. That last scene in the CrapShack reminded me of me when mine were leaving home.

Has anyone seen the book "Did I tell you?" ? It's a compilation of thoughts, things mothers hoped/wished they'd told their sons & daughters as they prepared to leave home. I got it for mine for high school graduation, and cried just reading it in the store, and that scene last night reminded me of the book. It ends with "Did I tell you? I hope it's a good life". Here's a sample of it, so you can cry too. lol

Did I tell you?

Yeah. Feeling nostalgic today.

There were a few scenes that might have been thrown in as DR's "just in case" scenes, but I think they made them fit well. Like Richard praising Lorelai. They made it touching (possibly a bit cheesy), but also threw a laugh in with it too. The Emily and Lorelai scene was the same - touching, but with Emily still being Emily. How I loved that she really laughed/smiled at one of Lorelai's jokes though. It made it feel, at least for me, that Lorelai and Emily were going to be okay -- even if we didn't really get to see their relationship really get to that new understanding.

The Lorelai/Rory scenes were done perfectly. AB and LG really knocked it out of the park. As Rory thanked Lorelai, they cut to Lorelai as she gives this tiny nod. It just seemed so real and so filled with emotion. To me it was almost as if LG was saying to AB "This is good. We can move on now." I thought it was very moving and it made me cry.

Lorelai watching Rory sleep was another "wow" moment. Again, the emotion was so real, it's like they knew this was really it. Which, for the fans sucks, but for the emotion that was put into the scenes, it was awesome. Then to follow that emotional scene to Luke doing the impossible for his girls - the waterworks were uncontrollable. I will always love that fictional man.

I did have to rewatch the LL stuff quite a bit last night before I was okay with it. But I am now, really. Of course I would have taken more and I would have preferred that the camera zoom out and showed LL kissing in front of the town, but like I was told last night, you don't have to see every detail. Sometimes it's best to leave things to your imagination. We were left lingering for more, and I think it's safe to say we know LL will be okay this time. So that makes me feel good. And I think SP was right -- that is good writing. To leave us wanting more is a good thing.

It's sad to say goodbye to Stars Hollow. Like Rory said, I loved "growing up" there and am going to miss them all so much. The actors (for the most part, lol) gave us 7 years of beautiful work. ASP created an amazing home away from home for me. And I met great people (fictional and real) all along the way. It's a show that I'll cherish for a long time to come.

And this is really my final post on FF. It's been a crazy ride here as well. Some times were a lot more fun than others, but I do take with me some fond memories -- like the ducks. Good times. Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed the finale and also that you never get so emotionally invested in a show ever again.

So long, folks.
*sniff*

Hi everyone. Thanks for the new thread, all the links and all the other wonderful info you all so kindly provide.

I was okay with the episode, I guess. I am still shocked at the lack of L&L dialogue, but it was expected and it will have to be okay. I loved Richard's comments to Lorelai. That is when I started crying. It did feel like a series end to me. The townies got their due (except Mrs. Kim) and we got the gross Taylor speech, but the only story line that got lost in the mix was L&L. I suppose LG and DSR wanted the emphasis to be on the girls and their relationship with the town and the parents, and that is what we got. Relationships with men? Not so much. I was satisfied with the ending. It was not ideal, but it will do. I can imagine that Lorelai is on the road to developing a better relationship with her mom that doesn't depend on Rory being a middle man and I can imagine that Luke and Lorelai are now together again.

Oh...it would have been nice to see Luke give Lorelai the necklace.

Sorry if others have posted these thoughts before. I am late to the party.

it just wasnt enough to end it there. there shouldve been at least a 2 hour finale, never mind an 8th season.

Aww, Mots, loved your final, final post. Sniff. And your insight over the years as well. I'm sad we never got to climb the trees around the DFI to watch that wedding we were planning a couple of years ago. Those were good times. And thanks for all your work taking care of our Luke/Lorelai Spoiler Thread. I will miss it all so much - the show, the forums, the tours... *sob*

hi all

after watching the episode i feel so emotionally drained and lacking something insightful to say....maybe later

thank you so much for all your guys comments & interps.....i don't know how i watched without them

i did adore the episode, but i can't deny that i feel cheated of LL....thus, i'm comforted by some posts on here where ppl explain how they're okay, it does soften the blow a bit...

i was mad there was no kiss in the diner, but the looks were amazing....good diner banter and looks better than RR IMO....and after reading the whole "take as much time as you need" (is that the exact line? going off 1 viewing here), i tend to see it as two meanings. 1) Luke gets the girls need for time 2) LL are good...they have all the time they need to be heal and be together

oh, and i must find and kill whoever edited the LL scene and thought zooming out of the kiss was a good idea......i went from crying to screaming

It was a great episode. and am still reading everyone's comments. It is helping me. I like the double interpretation of Luke's "Take all the time you need" but I watched again, and am again sad. I also hated how the kiss scene was edited.

Thanks for that cut scene description, Nic.

It's interesting that they really were setting up an LL summer trip thing, but I hate that they didn't give us any follow through with all that set up. They had like a 5 minute town meeting, but they couldn't spare 5 seconds to include that or him giving her the necklace?

I hope the DVDs have some deleted scenes, though they probably won't. I still want to see the one with Luke seeing CL drive by in 7.05.

Ok, I was finally able to see the episode and I must say I loved it. I mean if you look at the situation about not knowing it was the series finale, I think we could have been of a lot worse. I also rewatched at the end of the first episode and I loved that there are also lights at the window and stuff…. A perfect ending

Oké, maybe there could have been just a little bit more LL (especially the kiss, they showed the party to long after the kiss) but I think we can be happy.

I read a lot of reactions before I saw the episode and I interpreted the “take all the time you want” totally different then a lot of you. I thought it had nothing to do with the LL relationship. It was just an answer and saying that he loved that she was back in the diner, but not that he is willing to wait for here, because there is nothing to wait for. They are back together already (This is totally my opinion of course)

Yep they could have squeezed that scene in there but i'm sure it plays out even better in our imagination.

I'm so sad i didn't get the fun times here in FF. I decided to join last year with that dreaded finale.
