I hope we got TONS of extra stuff on the DVD to make up for the lack of it other times, and because it was the last season and we got ripped off

Yeah I started crying with the theme song and barely stopped...I esp. lost it when Lorelai went to see Rory sleeping...and the whole "Luke" part...and of course the very ending.

Oh and count me among the Emily lovers. She's amazing...KB rocks.

For a season that nearly reached 4 million i think the numbers are pretty good.

You know what would be great?

If they could somehow lure ASP back and have her write the REAL finale for this show.

I'm sorry, but last night's episode was one of the worst Gilmore Girls, in my opinion.

Here's why...

It didn't feel like it's usual self. It was slow moving, awkward, and a big chunk of the writing was lame. Was the scene with Lorelei looking at Rory in bed touching? Yes. But, some of the dialogue was boring and useless. Lane and Rory's scene took too long.

DSR and his writers can't write Emily. I noticed this last week during the graduation episode. Emily is portrayed so bi--chy! That's the thing about ASP. You could tell that she LOVED these characters and even though Emily was harsh, she was appealing as a character. Besides her line to Rory, Emily could have been softer. I give credit to Kelly Bishop for making it work. Remember the canoe/kayak speech?

Where is the romance??? As much as ASP was criticized for not having LL be all lovey dovey, she did have a way of writing their scenes and KISSES so romantically. They were like an old Hollywood movie couple. Was there a reason DSR had to pan to the party during the LL kiss, giving us a 3 second kiss we've been waiting for all season??

Where is the dialogue?? C'mon, people. The LL dialogue was ridiculous. That's it? was all I could think. I thought we might actually see these two say "I Love You" to each other and have the other one respond. Stop wasting time on scenes about rollercoasters OR TAYLOR'S STUPID AND DISGUSTING SPEECH, and let LL talk and communicate. Let us see the necklace being given to her. It's not a book! I don't want to imagine; I WANT TO SEE THE SCENES ON MY SCREEN.

The show is even farther away from reality than usual. Christiane Amanpour gives Rory her card after meeting her for five minutes in her pajamas, no less? I hope Scott Patterson gives me his number so readily when I meet him.

The weird camera angles. Some of the close-ups were too close.

How about a hug between Lorelei and Rory, Lorelei and Emily, or Lorelei and Luke? What is this Seinfeld, where they don't hug?

NO PARIS IN THE SERIES FINALE??!?!?! i rest my case.

The episode was not a total loss, some highlights were...

The acting from all of the actors working with such a dumb script. Kudos to the cast for trying to make it work. Specifically, LG and SP were amazing.

This writer loves Babette and Kirk. Her lines this season have been hysterical. A Maury sandwich sounds good right about now. Kirk's sash speech was so him.

Luke making the tarp was a good idea and the party/planning had a great town feel.

Overall, I didn't feel this was a fitting ending to one of the best family shows on TV.
ASP must be laughing herself silly right now...

Thanks for the threads, the memories, and the spoilers!!! Happy DVD watching.

Yeah I know. I meant the ratings this season. They were all around 4 Mio and now we got around 5. Compared to former seasons it's a joke for sure but it's nice to see that almost a million more viewers watched so yeah thanks for canceling the only show that brought viewers - really great job DO. But i bet she'll land a big coup with The Farmer's Wife

At CW, the series finale of "Gilmore Girls" (2.2/6 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) matched its season high in 18-49 and delivered the show's best 18-34 average (2.8/9) since January 2006, when it aired on the WB. click
Second score

I'm betting the increased ratings are not due to any the CW did to promote the finale - I mean, who watches the CW? Yeah, I know some people do but I'm thinking that the many love letters written by reviewers across the county had a lot to do with enticing viewers to the show - either ones that left when it tanked or some new people just wanting to see what all the fuss was about.

Whatever it was - I'm happy for them to go out on such a higher ratings than they had this season -

the show was improving towards the end of this season, and the ratings wouldve kept getting better next season, well if there was a next season!

It took me awhile to come around and accept the finale as the finale and really accept what we were given, but after a 2nd viewing I did accept it and I'm okay with this being the series finale.

There were a few scenes that might have been thrown in as DR's "just in case" scenes, but I think they made them fit well. Like Richard praising Lorelai. They made it touching (possibly a bit cheesy), but also threw a laugh in with it too. The Emily and Lorelai scene was the same - touching, but with Emily still being Emily. How I loved that she really laughed/smiled at one of Lorelai's jokes though. It made it feel, at least for me, that Lorelai and Emily were going to be okay -- even if we didn't really get to see their relationship really get to that new understanding.

The Lorelai/Rory scenes were done perfectly. AB and LG really knocked it out of the park. As Rory thanked Lorelai, they cut to Lorelai as she gives this tiny nod. It just seemed so real and so filled with emotion. To me it was almost as if LG was saying to AB "This is good. We can move on now." I thought it was very moving and it made me cry.

Lorelai watching Rory sleep was another "wow" moment. Again, the emotion was so real, it's like they knew this was really it. Which, for the fans sucks, but for the emotion that was put into the scenes, it was awesome. Then to follow that emotional scene to Luke doing the impossible for his girls - the waterworks were uncontrollable. I will always love that fictional man.

I did have to rewatch the LL stuff quite a bit last night before I was okay with it. But I am now, really. Of course I would have taken more and I would have preferred that the camera zoom out and showed LL kissing in front of the town, but like I was told last night, you don't have to see every detail. Sometimes it's best to leave things to your imagination. We were left lingering for more, and I think it's safe to say we know LL will be okay this time. So that makes me feel good. And I think SP was right -- that is good writing. To leave us wanting more is a good thing.

It's sad to say goodbye to Stars Hollow. Like Rory said, I loved "growing up" there and am going to miss them all so much. The actors (for the most part, lol) gave us 7 years of beautiful work. ASP created an amazing home away from home for me. And I met great people (fictional and real) all along the way. It's a show that I'll cherish for a long time to come.

And this is really my final post on FF. It's been a crazy ride here as well. Some times were a lot more fun than others, but I do take with me some fond memories -- like the ducks. Good times. Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed the finale and also that you never get so emotionally invested in a show ever again.

So long, folks.
