Buying the LC show on dvd That's a good one. Honestly thanks for that finale. Now I can truly say the show ended with 5.22 and finally get my dvd out and watch old episodes.

But not today. Today I'll commemorate the nice series finale with pizza, chips, booze and French Twist Yep right French Twist. Man I love that episode. One of the best comedy episodes of the show. Why did they switch back to drama this season ?

I ff'ed the opening credits like always

I never got the impression that Luke's past gestures meant nothing to Lorelai. But most of them were either before the April fiasco or they were "friendly" gestures. I NEVER got the impression that Lorelai needed a huge gesture. I think she just wanted a small sign that Luke still loved her the way she loved him.

Thanks nicolalala for the deleted scene info and for all the spoilers. Thanks blaab for the clips.(never downloaded them until my VCR started eating the tapes I had made.---now I've downloaded most of this season.) I keep thinking I 'm done discussing this, but am having a hard time staying away. I'm still loving reading everyone's take on the fianal episode.

Does anyone know a good link for fanfic? I've never read any, but I think I may need some to ween me from the show.

Thanks again to all the thread starters and the tour info providers. I've really enjoyed this thread.

I agree. I don't think that Luke had to do this big gesture for Lorelai to know either. He could have just given her the necklace and told her how much she means to him. But both of them thought the other was feeling the opposite of what they were, so they had almost given up. In the end though, they both knew what they wanted and finally saw how the other felt. To me, it was beautiful to see.

There is probably the best fanfic here. But this one can sometimes have some decent ones too. You just have to watch out for more bad fic there.

Oh did anyone, well I certainly did, find it telling that Lorelai told Christopher she was not really surprised when Christopher did not show up at the hospital, but when Sookie said: "He [Luke] must have stayed up all night to do this, can you believe that?" Lorelai answered: "Yeah ..." She has always known. Just couldn't believe he would still love her and well show her that ...

Saranoh!

Okee, now really out of here for now ...

But not without thanking everyone for bringing over spoilers, articles, DC's, well basically anything GG-related!!! THANKS!

First why did my body clock wake just in time to catch the cough, at 2am!

I loved the ep and IMO the last CS scene where Lorelai is talking about time sounded like us, we thought we had time then "3 days ago" it was yanked from us.

also Lorelai necklace has an "L" on it (not the new one from Luke)

and on the bed in Rory's room, anyone else notice the top Lorelai is wearing, little boat anchors, nice touch with Luke's boat trip stuff.

last, Luke put the necklace in his pocket, maybe he was gonna give it to Lorelai, then she kissed him and he had his moment
Great episode, good season final, okay series final, we needed more time!

more time was definetly needed.

And i loved how lorelai said she could believe luke did it, but she just didn't think he'd still do something like that for her. But she didn't need a BIG gesture, just something to let her know he still cares!

The way Lorelai looked at him and said "Luke" after he said the party was no big deal made me melt.

Hi all

It's been awhile since I've posted here(actually it was on the main GG spoiler thread the last time that I was around LOL)

I felt it fitting to stop by one last time and share my thoughts on the finale.

While I consider myself a great JJ fan, I have to say,all in all, last night was the better way to go,and I'm content with saying goodbye to my favorite show. Why?

1)<b> The time was right</b> I forget who said it earlier upthread, but the timeline of the show covered the "right" amount of time in Rory's life,Chilton to the end of Yale. As whoever said,it would be impossible to get a "complete" balance of time in Lorelai's adult life.In all honesty,7-8-9 years out of Lorelai's middle adult life <b> was not</b> going to include her settling all of her family issues(i.e.,parents) her career goals, her evolving relationship with Rory(the true theme of the show, despite out L/L or L/C love) AND her love life. Real life doesn't work that way. I always felt that the premise of the show was to portray Lorelai and Rory "growing up together" so to speak. Having the scholastic timeline for Rory parallel with Lorelai finding her adult self outside of motherhood was the right balance, and in that sense,it was complete.

2) <b>There are worse endings that could have happened</B> I've mentioned this before, albeit a few years ago,but I used to watch this show,Silk Stalkings,on USA where the relationship of the two leads is what held the show. When the actors left the series halfway through its run,the writers got them together-then killed one of them of,and sent the other off to parts unknown. The series lasted another three seasons, but never mentioned the original characters again or resolved that storyline. For those who feel bitter about not getting a complete L/L wedding/baby package, imagine how long it took fans to swallow THAT pill.

DR could have had her end up with Chris instead,he could have had Luke move out of town,or hey-the show could have ended with ASP leaving last year, and 6.22 could have been our final moment. They could have killed off a character(a la Everwood or Dawsons Creek) or made everyone pregnant(a la 7th Heaven,1st attempt at a series finale). At least the show ended on a fairly positive, all around note.I think that even ASP would have written a similar finale.

Finally 3)<b> You can't continue a series past its time</b> Again,I cite 7th Heaven. Yes,11 seasons is a record for WB/CW,but reviving that show for another year was like squeezing a last gasping breath from a dying person. The show had nowhere else to GO. I think that for GG'sto have it continue anothe ryear would be like getting a glimpse into everyone's next phase, and then abruptly stopping. Okay,so we could see L/L continue their romance-as others have said, problems could have come up(April,Chris, etc) and to have them get engaged, marry, and become pregnant in another 13 or even 22 eps would have felt rushing. But even so...what else would have carried the show? Watching Sookie have yet another child?Watching Lane & Zack raise their kids? Paris and Doyle at Harvard?Even watching Rory in her first year as a reporter would have revived the awkward phase circa season 4,when she started her college life, and odds are there would have been no major event of hers to see.Everything was as close to resolved at it was going to get-to push it even further may have ruined the show ultimately.

I feel as though everyone knew going in that this was going to be the last year. SP basically said it outright, everyone was done.I wish season 7 as a whole had been more finale focused, but I think that DR was attempting to create drama for the show in hopes of proving that he could continue it,and that kind of ruined it for me.No matter what,it was ASP's baby.

I do commend him for NOT having Rory marry Logan, though(sorry,Sophies)! I think its an interesting contrast to have the other young married couples against her choosing to pursue her own life first. It was a strong message to send out on a network that loves to show child brides.

All in all,its been a good run,and I think that the show kept with its original theme and messages quite well. That being said,I will miss the series in an era where TV is overrun with either medical, legal,or reality shows.

Goodbye Gilmore Girls, and best of luck to the cast, crew, and people here that were affiliated with the show.I wish them all the best.

Funny, Christiane Amanpour stayed in Room #7. That cancels out Bo/Beau I think.

They talk about what Lorelai and Rory did that day, and it's disappointing that the roller coaster trip is off, but how exciting this job is for Rory, and what a great opportunity it is. Sookie suggestively comments how funny it is that Luke's trip gets canceled, then Lorelai's trip gets canceled. Lorelai acts nonchalant, refusing to bite.
Thanks for that and for all the spoilers.

I hope we get a DVD packed with the missing stuff, maybe L&L after Rory leaves

And congrats Copperboom on passing 5000 posts.

BTW - the only time I lost it was at the party, sitting here at 3am crying, at least with the show over I might get into a better sleeping pattern LOL
