Color me unimpressed. I get LG's point about giving each of the supporting characters their final bow, but the result was a finale that felt very paint by numbers. The Rory and Lane scene in particular dragged, IMO. Suddenly their friendship was this huge deal when it hadn't been for 3.5 seasons. It was like L/L kiss? Check. Rory/Lane reaffirm their friendship? Check. Taylor says something awkward and gross? Check. Town meeting? Check. Friday Night Dinner? Check. Christopher shows up to shake things...well, I guess I should be grateful that ONE formula was abandoned

But I think we can officially put to bed the notion that DR wrote this as a season finale. Still, it screamed "oh ****, gotta tie it all up at the last minute!" I didn't watch Everwood, but I imagine the effect was similar with that finale.

Someone at TWOP pointed out that Rory's party speech to her mom seemed more like Alexis saying thanks to Lauren. I'm going to agree with that. It did seem more L/A than R/L. It was a great moment between the actresses.

When Lorelai and Rory are at the diner at the end. Rory says she likes the necklace and Lorelai holds it looks back towards Luke and smiles...What does Rory say? Does she say "It suits you?"

Totally agree. Didn't seem like acting to me; it felt so real, real enough to think that it might have been something to do with both actresses saying thank you for seven years together.

I am very happy with the series finale. I couldn't ask anything more than this, due to the short notice. I found some parts to be absolutely brilliant and witty. Thank goodness that Christopher was not in the series finale or season finale. I loved the last diner scene, wished the dialoge was more funny then about reporting. But I am very proud of this show for making it so far.

p.s. i missed the scene when Rory comes home after bonding with Lane. My tivo cut off and cut back on =[ anyone wanna tell me if i missed something?

Given the butcher job that the writers (that includes you, ASP) did through most of the last 22 episodes, I am happy to say that I loved this finale. Maybe my expectations had been set appropriately, but given where the story had gone, it was nice closure.

In particular -
- Lane and Rory's talk on the porch
- the Lorelai and Rory moments, particularly the goofy reenactment in the diner
- SP hitting the "I just like to see you happy," and "take all the time you need" lines perfectly
-Lorelai looking at Rory in her bed and crying
- and many more

As far as the L/L reconciliation, again, given what kind of expectations that I had, I was pleased. The kiss, the look exchanged in the diner, the necklace...good stuff. I can only imagine all the fan fiction that is going to come out of Luke presenting Lorelai with the necklace.

As a frequent lurker and very occasional poster, thanks to all of you for your dedication to finding and posting spoilers. I don't know if I'll ever follow a show this closely again, but you all made it a very fun experience. Thanks so much.

I've only posted on the L/L spoiler boards once or twice in the past, but now that the show is ending I would like come out of lurking and give my final thoughts on the episode. I've pasted this on other websites..

we deserve an 8th season. i want my luke and lorelai wedding. i want to see how rory will do with her job. i want to see more friday night dinners. i want to see more of the town. i love you gilmore girls.

it just felt like a season finale, not series, but i can't do anything about that now. it was perfect.

i want luke as my husband. seriously, the nicest most caring guy EVER and i love him. LOVE HIM. lorelai don't mess this up now because if you do he'll be mine. FOREVER.

i loved the party. i love the townies. i love emily and richard. i love everything about this show again, even though it sucked last season and the first half of this one, i still love you gilmore girls. i'll miss you

And I'm thankful for the Luke and Lorelai scenes. Although they were short and we were robbed out of a longer kiss (and the entire season), I'm thankful DR gave us at least SOMETHING in the finale, rather than nothing.

We all joked about it, sadly it turned out exactly that way.
To me, it feels "disrespectful" to quote KB.

if I remember correctly Rory comes home to find Lorelai ironing. Rory can't understand why Lorelai is not upset that this is happening so fast. Lorleai says something like she has to keep doing these things because she can't stop and think about it. She needs more time...there is still more time, and I think it meant she couldn't start being sad yet.

It did feel like a set-up for a Rory-light eighth season. R/E and Lorelai had a "nice moment". That's all. Richard acknowledged that Lorelai had made a home for Rory and herself, Emily kept interrupting - that will never go anywhere now.

And Luke and Lorelai of course - they reunited at 8.55pm. Is that a joke? 15 months of hell for 5 minutes of happiness.

Rory's send-off into the world was grand. Lorelai's will be forever unfinished. That's half the show. Yes, I'm pissed.
I hate when jokes come true, thanks for the LAST 22 eps DSR!

I'm bitter and still haven't seen the ep, how will I be at 6 tomorrow morning?

and that's lunch...

SP was amazing - always has been and always will be .

I feel sad that its the end (who isn't) but, it was a good send off, given that it they didn't know it would be the end...I still can't / won't believe it is, though ...

Thank you to everyone who has given us so much over the past seven years. From clips to spoilers to breaking news, you guys are simply the best.

Tonight was a tough one and I cried several times throughout the show finally losing it during the scene between Rory and Lane saying goodbye. I have grown up with this show and learned so much from this show in that I have read books I might never had if not for Rory reading them and discovered new music that has made my taste in music significantly better.

To me it has always been about the Girls, with L/L coming in a very close second. I love that we got to see some great scenes between Emily/Richard/Lorelai. I must admit that the L/L union was a bit to brief for me but other than that it was a great ending to a great series.
